Dell Curry’s R.O.Y. Vote Taken Away

This makes all the sense in the world. However, if I were Dell, I’d probably sneak a vote in for Stephen on the other awards: “A fantastic rookie of the year race between Stephen Curry and Tyreke Evans could come down to a single vote. Could the deciding ballot be cast by Curry’s father? That was a distinct possibility until Tuesday afternoon, when the N.B.A., citing an obvious conflict of interest, decided to pull the ballot from Dell Curry, a Charlotte Bobcats commentator, who is Stephen Curry’s father. ‘The vote will be reassigned,’ said Brian McIntyre, the N.B.A. senior vice president for basketball communications. ‘Dell Curry should not have received a vote for rookie of the year. We don’t want to put Dell in such a position.’ Teams submit their lists of local voters to the N.B.A., which can step in and reassign ballots if necessary. That is extremely rare, however, and the Curry situation was not initially flagged. N.B.A. officials revoked the rookie-of-the-year ballot from Dell Curry after it was brought to the league’s attention by a reporter on Tuesday. The league does not generally disclose which ballots have been assigned to which news-media members, but Curry openly talked about having a vote for rookie of the year. Curry, a former 12-year N.B.A. veteran, will still be allowed to vote on other awards, McIntyre said.”

Tyreke will probably take it. But I’m hoping to see a CO-ROY this year with Stephen…

Yes, Dell played in the NBA. Kinda sucks he cant vote for his kid but in all fairness the NBA did the right thing here.

It SEEMS like the right thing but it’s still a bunch of bs for PR. I wonder how many of these voters share the same agent as the players, etc…

Yet the Chinese still get to vote Yao as the starting all star year after year. (sometimes undeserving) I heard last year that Damon Jones was a top vote-getter.

Tyreke would win anyway. Curry is amazing but his defensive game just doesn’t exist. If you wanna talk about stats, Reke wins, if you wanna talk about presence on both ends of the floor, ‘Reke wins. No room for controversies here.

  • Aaron

    That’s a little ridiculous.

    Free Dell Curry.

  • The Ghost of Wilt Chamberlain

Dell’s vote wouldn’t be too much more biased than some other vote getters, what with team loyalties, professional relationships etc. Are both players (Reke and Junior) really that good or just products of good situations? ie. bad teams who give them the greenlight to play

  • ai come back

man its his son how the heck is he not gonna wanna vote for him especailly when he did play pretty close to tyrekes levl

“Yet the Chinese still get to vote Yao as the starting all star year after year. (sometimes undeserving).”
Sometimes undeserving? Are you freaking kidding me? Wow you are delusional, perhaps you’d rather see Marcus Camby starting in front of Yao… What a stupid comparison. Yao has been the best center in the West for several years now, and the votes he’s been getting come not only from China, but in AMERICA too; you know why? Because he’s the best in the West.
If you can’t see this you are not a basketball fan, Terry.

  • Ronald

Co-sign Teddy. And the first few years Yao got more paper ballot votes than online votes. And you know, we don’t have paper in China in addition to basketball knowledge in China. I bet terry wants to blame the Chinese for voting for AI in the ASG this year.

Evans should win easy hes been doing good all year and Curry just started doing good after the break so Evans should easily win it

Curry has been getting off harder than Tyreke once he was declared the W’s true 1. Since Jan 1 his avgs. are 21-6.5-5. Come on now, and he said he wanted to go out with a bang and try and win the ROY so he goes for 42-9-8 against playoff bound portland. Watch every warriors telecast to see that Stephen “Son of a Gun” Curry is the truth.
