Five Kentucky Players Declare for NBA Draft

With the NBA lockout looming, it’s no surprise Kentucky freshman Daniel Orton is jumping to the NBA with his boys, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson and Eric Bledsoe.

only 2 of those 5 are first rounders and cousins keeps on falling down…

  • mike

actually all 5 will be first rounders

  • TyMo

Picking Orton in the first round would be a huge risk because I still don’t know what the heck the guy can do.

They will all go first round. Cousins won’t drop beyond 5th pick. The teams hovering there could really use him.

    From NBAdraft.net:

    NBA comparison: Eddy Curry/Derrick Coleman

    If that’s not a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is…

Kentuckey won’t even be a top 25 preseason rank next season..the entire core of that team is gone.john wall #1 pick..

    Orton sucks.

Orton is Al Horford all over again and will have a better carrer than everyone of them MAYBE acccept wall(slightly overrated to me). just like Horford turned out to be a better pro than brewer, green, and maybe noah

early derrick coleman with the nets or derrick coleman with the sixers? makes a huge difference. slight pun intended.

They’re all going in the first round. Period. Talk to executives arond the league. No one’s gonna pass on Wall/Cousins past the top 5. Patterson’s a proven talent and would have been a lottery pick last year. Orton’s a big body with athleticism and proved he could hang and bang with the SEC’s finest big men every game – not a lottery pick on every mock board but still a first-rounder. Bledsoe is uber-athletic, has a huge upside, would have been the top point guard prospect were it not for Wall, and demonstrated big-time shooter’s touch when he opened the tourney with that 8 of 9 threes performance.
Oh…and Kentucky will still be in the top 25 to start next season. They’ve still got Coach Cal, s handful of guys that could start just about anywhere in the country, and the nation’s best recruiting class…again.
    Go Blue!

I’d rather have Bledsoe than Wall. And Horford played some years at Florida, won two national championships. We knew he could play. Can’t say we know that much about Orton.

  • OneStep

Wall should stay one more year and get a jumpshot. Without it NBA guards will simply sag off him and dare him to shoot. He’s simply not ready yet. Athleticism only gets you so far.

@ Homie: that is hilarious. If I were is agent I’d be trying to get that taken down. It defamation lol

    does mike even watch basketball?

  • mike

@JE – As much as I’d like to prove you wrong right now, I guess we’ll have to wait until June 24th. In the mean time, keep trying to make it seem like you know what you’re talking about.

Cousins = Rasheed Wallace pt 2

Update: Patrick Patterson has not *officially* declared yet, because it is a big decision as declaring twice annuls his college eligibility no matter if he signs with an agent or not. Story (sorry SLAM, you don’t have the update): http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/Nobody-told-Patrick-Patterson-he-was-entering-th?urn=ncaab,232942

  • Zach

@Stillballin: Kentucky not being preseason rank top 25? thats a joke. Brandon Knight said all he was waiting for was John Wall to declare for the draft. That kid won the McDonalds game and is the 3rd best prospect. Kentucky also has 2 top 100 players committed already. They have 6 top 100 players considering, and 5 of the 6 are McDonalds All Americans. Kentucky will be back next year in full strength

Bledsoe will be the pick, he has a great upside, Wall and Cousins got so much praise, Bledsoe flew under the radar. He will be the best out of all of them. BOOK IT!!

4 yrs later. this remains true
