Kobe Bryant to Remove Finger Splint?

In an effort to improve his ghastly shooting percentage of late, the OC Register speculates that Bryant might face the Thunder without the splint on his broken finger: “Kobe Bryant has been doing his practice shooting recently without the usual splint for his fractured right index finger, and he is considering ditching the support for the postseason, which begins Sunday. It’s no coincidence that Bryant’s experimentation comes right before the serious part of the championship defense. While working on his shooting before the Lakers’ game Wednesday night, he was not wearing the splint … Bryant shot 5 of 23, 8 of 24 and 8 of 23 from the field in his last three regular-season games. In the game before that, he shot 2 of 6 from the free-throw line. Bryant has said in the past that the splint compensates for lack of strength in the finger, which he can’t fully straighten because of the injury and gets tired easily from use. If Bryant’s finger is strong enough to go without any brace now, another concern would be whether it would be strong enough to deal with being hit in game action without splinted support. Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a general interview with the team’s Web site that he has noticed Bryant without the brace on his finger but didn’t know Bryant’s plans.”

    wow, such big news

  • http://www.slamonline.com James the Balla

This is a big deal… one good hit could re-injure the finger.

  • Roc

Dangerous, but I trust Mamba’s judgement. Big ups to Slam for projecting LA to win the Title this year! :) ))

  • http://djsfklf.com Jukai

Damn, too bad Bruce Bowen retired…

  • http://djsfklf.com Jukai

Oh wait, Kenyon Martin would do this in a heartbeat. Let’s hope Denver beats Utah so this can happen.

  • unrel

^ kind of silly to hope for dirty play..

  • http://djsfklf.com Jukai

True, but I think it’s also kind of silly to root for that d*ckwad Kobe to get another ring. Soooooo….

    Kobe Bryant to Remove Tampon?

  • http://wrwood1@aol.com WOODY

Why would Kobe have any say in wearing a splint. Surely that’s a decision for the doctors and team management – not the player involved.

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

I see Jukai has saved some of his best venom for the Lakers playoff run. Nice.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

Glen Davis would do it in a heartbeat.
But on another note, I’m still thinking back when Horry tackled Nash… or when Raja Bell clotheslined Kobe.. damnnn.

  • LA Huey

    @Anton, you so mean

  • Jackie Moon

Kobe Bryant to Remove Tampon?… from Anton’s mouth

  • Thomas

Why do people buy into this BS every playoff? Every time the playoff nears and Kobe’s got problems with his fingers and he still put up 30 a game and hit clutch shots like it’s nothing…. He’s Kobe f**king Bryant, he’s gonna b*tch, torch opponents and then b*tch some more.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Kobe, the king of flailing elbows, could not get angry if somebody swiped his hand to test him out.
If Ron Artest wasn’t his teammate, I know he would have done it.

    Hate gets weird sometimes.

what was the reason for him NOT getting surgery done on it earlier in the season again?

  • BackInBlack

the lakers would of lost a bunch of games

  • http://j_cotero@yahoo.com jody03

i dont think the finger needed surgery? i think its just like any broken bone, the only way its gonna heal is with time.

Where James the B. at to shield his boy?

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Kobe will produce, just like last year, give the Prince Ledance his MVP, Kobe wants the Finals MVP. Kobe will kill and all yall herbs up here will be watching the games too to watch the top 5 greatest talent ever. Also ANTON you need to go back to trying to write recaps, trying to get on SLam writing list, but you know what your corny ____ rhymes and saying suck and I believe your a very gay man with your personal sayings!!(BOOK IT)

  • erich

It wasn’t that much of an injury if he didn’t sit out games or get surgery.
Tape it, take an aspirin then shut up and play.
I think their were players in history dealing with bigger injuries and they still were on the court.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Erich shut up, Lebron sat out 3 games with a sprained finger before and other players would have sat out with that finger for more games than KObe, you dumb hater, I hate these cats up here who don’t watch ball and just talk off their weed out heads. Dude watch the NBA games then talk, Kobe has played with more elements than you would play with in your over forty basketball league. Shut up and watch the greatest, you must be a clipper fan. Also a aspirin is not going to fix a mess up finger cat, you need to be able to guide the ball smart one. Also don’t start sentences off with I think,(basically you don’t know) and also I feel a little dumber for responding so long to your idiotic comment, but hey I have been busy and don’t have the time to respond to articles like I used too, thanks for your stupid comment.

    Uhhh.. Damn, Seed.

  • Omxniyeince

The Seed just killed and owned a kid lol

  • karma

The amount of hate people reserve for this guy is mind boggling. He’s been mentioned in the “best” category since about 2002. That’s 8 years of sustaining a high level of play. Please stop hating, it just looks stupid.

  • erich

I know, that my grandfather and me build his roof together while I had a broken indexfinger and middlefinger.
I know that I played ball having it taped the next day because I assumed it was just sprained, before my mother told me to go see the doctor.
I know that I’m not just watching ball but I’m also playing it.
I don’t know if you do Seed.
    One other thing Seed
I know that guys like Willis, Isaiah, Allen I., … played with injuries that were more serious than a broken finger.
    ;-)

  • JoeMaMa

What’s funny is that Kobe merely practised a day without the splint. He didn’t say anything; he just practised. And now people, on this post, are hoping he gets injured, calling him fragile…all because he practised without a splint. Wow. Hate defined.

  • Yesse

Kobe should have done surgery a long time ago. This might cost him.

  • http://djsfklf.com Jukai

It’ll probably take surgery to remove Kobe’s d*ck from The Seed’s mouth. But dun worry, Kobe’ll play through it and if he shoots 30% he’ll blame it on his teammates not following the triangle well!!!

I want Kobe fully healthy, with straight fingers, a decent dinner, the machine contributing off the bench and bynum growing the F up….. and then I want that healthy smiling fool bottled up and removed very very early from the playoffs with no excuses whatsoever for him to use.

  • http://www.nba.com/suns Dacre

It aint hate – just more love for other teams.

  • http://alan.george@gmail.com Breeze

Well im guessing this love for other teams you had Dacre was thier the previous year? why do anyone question this player? cause hes not as cool as you like him to be or he not as hood. See if your really honest with yourself besides jordan have you ever seen more talent ? is he not the top 5 greatest hmm i dont care what team you liek thats your personal prefrence but give respect where its do damn …
