Report: Nene May Have Torn Left ACL

The Denver Post reports that the Nuggets (who staved off elimination from the Playoffs last night) may not have the services of their big man for the rest of this season: “The Nuggets sure hope they’re wrong, but a source familiar with the situation said the team is extremely fearful that Nene tore his left ACL in Wednesday’s Game 5. Nene was attended to by team trainers and doctors after his second-quarter fall, and today he will undergo the revealing MRI. The team listed the injury as a left knee sprain.”

*laugh* @ Clapzilla – Yeah, “source familiar with situation”… what is this, ‘New Idea’ Magazine?

We now have confirmation from the Nuggets staff that it’s ‘just’ a hyperextension and sprain. Those both sound painful, and will probably limit his productivity, so he’s not exactly going to tear it up in the next game.

You can run through a list of players who suffer tough breaks without mentioning Greg Oden?

I always liked Nene, but he was playing like doo-doo this postseason. I actually don’t think it hurts the Nuggets’ chances at all.
