Safe to Say, Lou Williams is No Andre Miller

We were stunned when the Sixers let Andre Miller walk so easily this summer. We were even more shocked when they passed on Ty Lawson and Eric Maynor, two PGs who could’ve made immediate impacts, for Jrue Holiday in the Draft. The 76ers were sure that Lou Williams could shift over to the PG spot. So sure they didn’t hedge their bet on it at all.

With the season almost over, two things are now clear (at least according to the Philly Inquirer): The Sixers missed Andre Miller immensely all year; and Lou Williams is no point guard.

“[T]he experiment failed.

Experiment Lou Williams Point Guard has been unsuccessful for more than one reason. It will be abandoned.

The reasons for failure?

Williams was promoted to starting point guard within an offense that clearly doesn’t fit his style, or the styles of his teammates. In essence, he was given the keys to a lemon; the engine just wouldn’t turn over for him.”

If that wasn’t bad enough, now the question is: Will Lou Williams be able to readjust to being a spark off the bench next season, or has he been spoiled?

I never understood the hype for this guy. Skinny, limited court vision, and I think his handles make him seem more athletic than he actually is. So, I sort of figured this would happen.

    EPIC FAIL!

  • Kendrick is God

realisticly though there better off than this time last year cos they are in line for a better draft pick and Holiday isn’t looking too bad.

The Sixer’s best pick-up last year was Jaime Maggio.

Lou was actually doing fine IMO. He was using his scoring ability to make plays. He just lost his rhythm when he broke his jaw. And then when he came back, Allen Iverson was around and Jrue Holiday was in the rotation. Now we see that Jrue is a better point guard, so I doubt we’ll try this experiment again. But I still think Lou will be great off the bench like he had been doing.

What? Lou Williams was well on his way to the most improved player award. Then his jaw injury was a setback, and for some reason the coach decided not to play him when he returned. Man, I blame all of Philly’s setbacks on Eddie Jordan.

Holiday is a better PG than Maynor and Lawson.

  • Mr. West

Williams needs to take a holiday and get exiled somewhere

Sweet lou is not a good starter, they just need to realize that and move on. Also the Princeton offense with that team is just dumb, either get a new coach or put in a new system and get a stable roster, iggy deserves as much.

Holiday is already very, very good.
    Co-sign Nigel.

    the guy is just overrated.

  • Simmy Sosa

Honestly, the system stinks and you would think a coach would recognize that it isn’t working for ANY of the players. Elton Brand, a career 20-10 guy, is avg 13 ppg and 6 rebs. This was the big free agent last year but Eddie Jordan has made no effort to accommodate him. Jordan needs to make an adjustment or his days in Philly are numbered.

  • COGGIE

i blame all of this on the day the head office signed elton brand, should have chased josh smith.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Co-sign Simmy, Elton Brand should be THE piece the Sixers build around.

The difference between a great coach and, a good coach is being able to work with what you have Like Pat Riley. The Lakers were showtime then with the Knicks he had a bunch of hard nose guys so thats how they played, then you have coaches like Larry Brown where they know one style of play, and they have have players that fit that style. Eddie Jordan has a running team that he’s trying to make a halfcourt team.

I would fly over there just to show the 76ers I could be a better PG, for half that money.
