Shaquille O’Neal’s Record stats (and dollars)

Ben Hoffman writes: “In his 18-year career, Shaquille O’Neal has put up plenty of big numbers. He has scored 28,255 points, grabbed 12,921 rebounds, won 4 N.B.A. championships and made 5,862 free throws (though it took him 11,121 attempts.) But the biggest number of all for O’Neal is $290,846,146, his career earnings according to Basketball-Reference.com.”

So don’t feel bad for Shaq when he has to take a major pay cut this summer.

Jesus! I knew he was minted but didn’t think it was like that

  • Yann Blavec

He’s one of only five players to record 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocks. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kevin Garnett, Vlade Divac are the others.

  • Orlando Green

Is that only basketball contract money, because apparently he has said before that he hasn’t even touched that money yet. He has been living off of endorsement money!

  • Ronald

@Orlando Green. I hope that’s the truth. I heard that a few years back but remember when the gas prices were sky rocketting? He was spending a LOT of money. Some ridiculous numbers. I doubt that whole I haven’t touched my salary money is holding up these days.

  • Fat Lever

I know it’s still a lot, but that’s pre-tax money. You can knock about 40% off of that for his net earnings, strictly from bball, unless he’s deferring his salary, which would be the smart thing to do.

@Yann.. unless Im missing something, Duncan easily fits into that category with 20,000+pts, 11,000+ rebounds, 3,000 assits and 2,000+ blocks

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

@ bouncyman: Yann is probably reading an old statistic, since Duncan only recently hit the 3,000 assist mark.
Also, Bill Russell (14500, 21600, 4100) and Wilt Chamberlain (31400, 23900, 4600) would have easilllly made this list had they counted blocks back then. Baylor (23100, 11400, 3650) maybe too.

    $290 mil… Damn. ‘Nuff said.

  • kobesbestfriend

If only he was dedicated to keeping himself in shape and took the game more serious he would have like 10 rings by now and solidified himself as the best big man ever but he was to worried about kobe stealing his spotlight…he was paid $200,000,000 too much IMO!!!
