Sixers to Fire Eddie Jordan Today

The first of the coaching dominos to fall is in Philadelphia today, says the Inquirer. Happy trail, Eddie Jordan: “Comcast-Spectacor, which owns the Sixers, will fire Jordan, in his first year with the organization, during a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Philadelphia  College of Osteopathic Medicine, this according to a source close to the situation. The Sixers, 27-55, finished their disastrous season on Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena. Comcast-Spectacor will be obligated to pay Jordan for two more seasons, or approximately $6 million, through the 2011-2012 season. On June 1, 2009, Jordan signed a four-year contract, the final season of which was a team option. Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski, who executed the three-week coaching search that resulted in Jordan’s hiring, is scheduled to make the announcement.”

    Meh. He was the worse.

    Are teams done hiring this clown now? I was shocked when he got that job in the first place.

    @niQ: worst?

    I’m not sure why he insists on running that confusing “Princeton” offense at EVERY chance! All that does is limit go to guys. It just erases all opportunity for a team to have a spontaneous backcourt. It flusters all creative gaurds. It sucks, he sucks, and something else sucks.

    AVERY JOHNSON !!

    honestly its pointless to fire him after 1 year. what this team needs is leadership and continuity. the Sixers front office has struggled mightily in recent years. next year the sixers will have their what, 5th i think?, head coach in the last 8 years. theres no way you can win with that much turnover. its pathetic.

    what i don’t get with Eddie Jordan is that he got so much praise during his assistant coaching days at Nets behind Byron. people keep blasting byron saying all he does is cross and uncross his arms, and the real coach behind the Nets’ amazing turnaround was Eddie Jordan (granted Kidd was on TOP of his game then). People and press were happy when he got the head coach gig in Washington, and now he just sucks?
    maybe he needs to work with Byron again to recapture his success?

    I’ve got a better idea… Start firing players.

    Albie
    He sucks on defense, and he sucks at connecting with his players.
    The second thing is a big deal for a head coach. You have to command respect, and Eddie struggled with that in Washington and in Philly. Don’t really know why.

    Don’t really know why? How about not changing the starting line up whenever you feel like it and not giving players like Brand or L.Williams enough playing time? (Even when healthy.)

    Wow. What did I just write. I was trying to talk about how he always changes the starting line up…. and the other note was how he never plays Brand and Lou, the players who could deal the most damage… Somehow he feels that 20 mins or less is enough for them.

    This just made my day. Sorry Eddie, I think you are a better fit for the college game to run your princeton offense. The game has changed. Good luck to wherever you end up! I will be watching…
