Al Jefferson to Do Community Service Following DUI

Big Al avoided jail time after pleading guilty to drunken driving in February, and will now do 40 hours of community service. From the Star Tribune: “Al Jefferson didn’t attend his plea hearing in front of Hennepin County judge, but he won’t have to serve jail time.Timberwolves star Al Jefferson must perform 40 hours of community service and participate in a one-day drunken driving seminar for his guilty plea to misdemeanor drunken driving Thursday. Lawyer Emanuel Serstock entered the plea on behalf of Jefferson, who wasn’t required to attend the hearing in front of Hennepin County Judge Mel Dickstein. The judge sentenced the Wolves center to 30 days in jail, but he won’t have to serve the time if he performs the community service, attends the seminar and stays out of trouble. He also must pay a $300 fine.”

Curious as to where Big Al ends up next season. I don’t see the Wolves keeping him, and anticipate him being part of a package with Detroit, who are looking to make some changes for sure.

as a wolves fan, i am kinda hoping that we trade him. i just dont see him being a franchise type player that can carry a team to be very successful

Dude should’ve gone to jail just for missing his hearing. Unbelievable, I am so sick of athletes getting away with murder, literally.

I hope he learns his lesson. We’ve had more than enough tragic road incidents lately – JR Smith and Eddie Griffin, RIP, come to mind.
