Antoine Walker to Work Out, Attempt Comeback

Antoine Walker’s been in the news a lot this year; too bad none of it had anything to do with his game. Today, however, it does.

Walker, a former All-Star, is set to attempt to work his way back into the NBA. According to the AP: “Louisville coach Rick Pitino says Walker will work out with several Cardinals over the next few weeks. Walker hasn’t played in the NBA since 2008 and has suffered legal and financial woes since stepping away from the game…Pitino, who coached Walker at Kentucky in the 1990s, said he also hopes Walker will talk to his players about the temptations that come with life as a professional.”

I don’t think he has a real chance to make it to the L once again, but I wish him all the best.

“I know it sounds crazy, kids, but when I was down to my last $5 million, I just got a feeling that with a trip to Vegas, I could finally take down the house. And with Coach Rick volunteering to take care of my wife, I was SURE this was the right thing to do!!”

I’m not gonna lay it on Walker.
He fu*ked up, and now he’s trying to do right by himself and make it better.
    Best of luck to him.

My 1st ? right off the bat is how much does he weigh and is he even near in shape? His age doesn’t concern me as much if he is in playing shape b/c there are even older players than Walker contributing in the L right now. He may have to go to the developmental L or overseas but with his past mentality would either even want him?

He may be in good shape! How many calories can you burn doing the shimmy?

As a Celtics fan I miss the exciting Walker/Pierce days but it’s sad – almost embarrassing – to see the guy in serious money troubles. I doubt he’ll make a successful comeback to the NBA, but maybe somewhere overseas he’ll find something.

Hes 6’8 and can shoot from distance, he will get paid to play, somewhere. Which is all he needs.

  • andrew

he must’ve ran out of money.

Euroleague, after taking a personal finance education course. Very sad to learn of someone blowing so much money in such a short time. However, it was his money, earned by his talent alone. Maccabi Avi may offer a contract, or the NBA Developmental League. NBA, I doubt it…

    Everyone deserves a second chance!

i didn’t know he just.. ‘stepped away from the game’..

  • Lz – Cphfinest3

Antoine Walker will harness his game by eating some Cardinals over the summer. Boing Dynasty your comment should have read: He’s 6’8 and can shoot, however not hit, from distance..

  • Exile

    LOL. right.

  • Nick

He might actually be in solid shape. Last I heard he was playing in Puerto Rico. Sure not top competition but it’s still in pro ball and you have to be in decent shape to compete at any pro level. Someone will pay him.
