Barack Obama on ‘Los Suns’

The Commander-in-Chief gave a tip of the cap to the Suns’ organization for their standing up against the immigration bill in Arizona prior to their Game 2 win last night: “President Barack Obama has given a shout-out to NBA’s Phoenix Suns, who are wearing jerseys that say ‘Los Suns’ to honor the Latino community, diversity and the state of Arizona. Obama made the remarks at the beginning of a Cinco de Mayo celebration in the Rose Garden. The president said: ‘I know that a lot of you would rather be watching tonight’s game — the Spurs against ‘Los Suns’ from Phoenix.’ The line drew applause from the crowd.”

Bah, I hate working nights, I gotta reread my comments so I don’t write “But don’t kid yourself” twice in every response I submit.
Also, you’re right about my using christ as being offensive, I apologize for it. I probably wouldn’t use the any other deities’ name in vein, mostly because it isn’t a common expression in the English language started by southern catholics who were trying to say “christ, forgive him” in a sarcastic way. But, you already knew that.

They weren’t Muslim. It’s a damn shame when someone like Citizen writes blatant lies. Just a damn shame.

Doyouwantmoresaid:Go back in my posts and show me once where I said that a certain race should be singled out. I said Islamic men, which is a religion. A racist is the worst thing you can call a person
Is being called a racist worst than being called a pedophile? How about being called a Nigg(er?
Where the hell did this new logic come from that makes being called a racist so horrible? David Duke is not only called a racist, but he’s a unrepentant former member of the Klan. His life doesn’t seem so horrible.
Strom Thurmond, Trent Lott and Jesse Helms were all called racist and all supported segregation at one time. They were also powerful long term members of the United States Senate.
Where exactly is the proof that the worst thing you can call someone is a racist? I’m tired of this new meme.
Also, you can’t tell if someone is Muslim just by looking at them. You really can’t. So, the only way you can profile based on religion is if you are actually profiling based on race and clothing.
This whole “profile religion” movement is bogus and idiotic. Besides, most of the domestic terrorist organizations operating in the Unites States have Christian roots, according to the FBI.
We gonna start profiling Christians next?

This issue is not about Republicans vs. Democrats. Of course, Democrats are weak on illegal immigration. George Bush wanted amnesty.
I support immigrants who follow the law, wait in line and got through the legal process. This law is not racial profiling any more than any other law on the books. You have to commit a crime, then after that, your legal status is questioned.
All Muslims are not terrorists. Most Tea-Partiers can’t get over the fact that there is a black President.
Illegal means Illegal. Companies that hire illegal immigrants should be fined and/or arrested.
I support fair wages. Illegal aliens undercut fair wages and make rich corporations, richer.
It is blatantly unfair to the immigrants who have waited in line and done things the legal way.
I also voted for Obama, and will vote for him again in 2012.

Wilford, you really think this proposed law dosent have a scent of profiling? Reasonable suspiscion can be so easily exploited by policemen and women who hold their own prejudices. It just seems like an angry/hasty reaction to a problem that has been growing for a long time.

AllenP/Contessa Brewer – You made an accusation and I’m not letting you off the hook. I challenge you to actually do some math and post it here. Take the number of victims of Islamic terrorism in the last fifteen years (world trade center, pentagon, DC sniper, Fort Hood shooting, Madrid bombings, London Bombings, etc.) and compare that to the number of Muslims in those democracies. Now compare that percentage to the number of Christians in democracies and the percentage of victims of Christianity. You could also factor in the percentage of aid that is received worldwide from Christian organizations and democracies if you want. Mcveigh wasn’t a Christian. The guy who flew the plane into the IRS building was even a registered democrat. (CNN, MSNBC reported that he was a disgruntled republican by the way) – - – How dare you throw crap like that accusation around? Especially when you’re blessed to grow up in a Christian country with God in the pledge of allegiance.

    Timothy McVeigh.
    Joseph Stack.
    George Sodini.
    The Unabomber.
The Anthrax man. — They were white, though. So that makes it okay to throw them in with ‘Christian’ terrorists. The Unabomber was a University Professor, and a big Bill Ayers fan, too. — Nice try though. How do you feel exactly, about Islamic terrorists, AllenP? Are they justified somehow, by your way of thinking? Are they victims that just need to be shown that we understand their plight? Seriously, post some of the math from the last post, and then publicly condemn the principles and ideology of Muslim terrorists as easily as you would the white guys you posted. You know why calling someone racist is the worst thing you can do? There’s no trial, there’s no real set standard. Your career is over, your reputation is smeared, the debate is over, and it’s assumed that, if you’re accused of racism, well you must be racist! Political correctness is becoming the Sharia law of America.

Arizona’s law is exactly like the Federal immigration Law…only difference? The Federal Government doesn’t enforce their law.

I’m going to say this again:
I’m f*cking tired of people complaining about how they have to pay taxes for illegal immigrants. Does it suck? Sure it does. But EVERYTHING IS A TWO-WAY STREET. You taxpayers aren’t doing NEARLY as much of a favor for these people as you think you are.
We’re always talking about the illegal immigrants as if they’re leeches. Why don’t we talk about how much the illegal immigrants actually BENEFIT the United States? These people work their @sses off in low-paying jobs that NO ONE ELSE WANTS. Do you realize how much this benefits the economy? THERE IS A REASON WHY THE UNITED STATES’ GOVERNMENT DOES NOT GO THROUGH MORE EXTREME MEASURES OF QUELLING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. It’s because, quite frankly, the US Economy needs these people to sustain its longevity. These people provide a great amount of support for this country, whether you like it or not.
And the money that their exploitative companies make–companies that pay MORE in taxes with HIGHER profits–by paying them ridiculously low wages MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THEIR LACK OF TAX DOLLARS.
Sure, you can racially profile every Latino, Asian, black, or brown person, and see where that gets you; let’s see how much the US benefits from deporting it’s labor force.
As much as I h@te the prospect of cheap labor, and want only fairness and equality for these people, the fact is, the United States needs them here to sustain the economy.
No illegal immigrants means companies have to pay their workers higher wages, which in turn means lower profits and more layoffs, which THEN leads to lower production and even MORE layoffs.
It’s f*cked up for both sides, but right now America really does not have a choice. So STOP dehumanizing the illegal immigrants and acting like YOU’RE doing them such a big and righteous favor. THEY WORK HARD to stay in this country and feed their families–regardless of how much you pay in taxes, THEY still complete THEIR work.

Maya Moore is a big fan of Ann Coulter’s.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Also, in case you people haven’t noticed, NOT every single brown person is a Muslim… SMH. Armenians are mostly Christian, Indians are mostly Sikhs and Hindus… The same people calling for profiling Muslims are the same people who can’t tell the difference between a Palestinian and an East Indian.
And how can you “profile” a religion? There are white Muslims, Indonesian Muslims, Malaysian Muslims, Pakistani Muslims, black Muslims and Chinese Muslims.
Let’s be clear: “Profiling Muslims” actually means “Profiling all brown people,” in other words “Racial Profiling.” So don’t tell me it’s not racist.

  • doyouwantmore

    You’re naive, Mr. Bear.

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

I like how doyouwantmore ignored my massive point about “profiling is profiling.” That makes me very happy. I guess there’s other points to argue, might as well dodge mine!
I’m not exactly sure HOW we got to religious profiling. I have mixed feelings on it. What we have in arizona is racial profiling. Simple as that. It’s an illegal law. Unconstitutional to the extreme.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Doyouwantmore: Right.. You know, the nation with the highest population of Muslims in the world is Indonesia. Maybe you can profile them, too.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

No but seriously, you can call me naive all you want, but we have to start seeing people as what they really are… people. Not as some illegal pests. And profiling discriminates against LEGAL Americans as well…

    Do you want more
Citizen said that ever terrorist over the past ten to 15 years was a Muslim.
    That was a lie.
You felt no need to correct that lie. I did.
I don’t care about the political affiliations of the folks I named, and I didn’t make it a Republican versus Democrat debate.
I pointed out that it is a blatant and obvious lie that every terrorist act committed in America over hte past 10-15 years was done by a Muslim.
Finally, I provided you with multiple examples of people called racists who went on to live healthy, productive and powerful lives. Did you happen to miss those names?
You continue to believe that being called a racist is the worst thing in the world, despite all the evidence to the contrary. That’s what works for you, so I doubt you’ll change. You continue to ignore the obvious examples of folks accused of racism who have had nothing happen to their lives. Being called a racist is NOT the worst thing that can happen to anybody, hell being called a pedophile is much worse.
But, you just go ahead an wallow in your newly acquired victim status.

AllenP: It’s like your trademark: Ignore the larger scope of the argument being presented to you, and explore the shallow point-by-point jabs that you’re trying to take, to force common sense to defend itself, rather than be heard. Teddy the bear reps your point of view very well: Not that bright, not that incisive, not that original, and lockstep with the politically correct, naivete of the moment. Have you read the ARizona law? It’s the same as the old Federal law, only Arizona has chosen to enforce it! And if you’re somehow implying that I, or any other person with good sense, is in favor of institutional racism, then I would ask you to reconsider, because that’s a lie you have been told, and dutifully believed. But, I would remind you that there is a legal way to enter America in search of the American dream. You’d make tax-paying Americans pay 11.2 Billion dollars to pay for illegal immigrants every little whim. That’s just straight foolish, and deep down I suspect you can feel it.
