Barack Obama on ‘Los Suns’

The Commander-in-Chief gave a tip of the cap to the Suns’ organization for their standing up against the immigration bill in Arizona prior to their Game 2 win last night: “President Barack Obama has given a shout-out to NBA’s Phoenix Suns, who are wearing jerseys that say ‘Los Suns’ to honor the Latino community, diversity and the state of Arizona. Obama made the remarks at the beginning of a Cinco de Mayo celebration in the Rose Garden. The president said: ‘I know that a lot of you would rather be watching tonight’s game — the Spurs against ‘Los Suns’ from Phoenix.’ The line drew applause from the crowd.”

Nice. Honestly, I’ve been a Suns fan for a while now, and this kind of class move makes me proud of the organization.

  • http://www.slamonline.com melvin ely

whereas GW bush would’ve just shook his head and muttered something stupid. Now watch as this gets precisely zero coverage from Fox news.

  • Bruno

next game will be Los Spurs vs. Los Suns

  • http://freewebs.com/galacreativa Gus

next season it will be “La Éne Be A”

  • Wilford Brimley III

Phoenix is the kidnap capital of the country. Illegals pay taxes. 8 cents on every dollar. Illegal aliens undercut American workers and lower wages. People who support illegals are stupid, rich or criminals their damnselves.

  • J-Bird

Thanks for that Wilford. Now please leave :)

  • frm

wilford brimley……..nobody is supporting illegals, people are against this stupid law which basically, if you look latino, the police has the right to arrest you and interrogate you.

  • Wilford Brimley III

Folks, you obviously haven’t read the law. If you haven’t broken the law, then you have nothing to worry about.

  • J-Bird

Wilford, have you ever heard of racial profiling? This is legalized racial profiling, and as a citizen of AZ it worries me that our lightweight state politicians would introduce such short-sighted, irresponsible policies.
Fortunatley there are many people, including myself, who oppose this bill, and will fight to keep it from becoming law.

    Go Suns!

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com Dutch Rich

    Wilford Brimley the Turd…..
What else does that law say????

  • http://www.hoopshype.com Maya Moore

Lucky for the suns they don’t have to worry about illegals taking their jobs while they stand in an unemployment line with hundreds of other U.S citizen construction workers. They also have the luxury of not worrying about illegals bringing drugs unobstructed through gated mansion property. The reason illegal immigration is a problem today is the left-wing democrat numbskulls who put Jimmy Carter and Barry Obama in office figured out they could get votes by creating a dependent-class just like they did to blacks in the seventies. Also, on a related topic, while 100’000 Americans were being screened by airport security by patting down 90-year old women and confiscating baby bottles, another Islamic terrorist made it onto a plane despite being on a no-fly list. Strangely enough every act of terrorism in the last ten to fifteen years has been committed by Muslim men, and more than 50% of them have had Muhammed in their name. Now if only the Big Government could come up with some kind of security plan based on that information! Eureka! Every act of terrorism since Obama got elected has been stopped by city cops or American citizens. If Americans are the ones keeping each other safe when Obama’s policies are clearly not doing the job, maybe he should stop insulting us, patronizing us, manipulating our youth, and undercutting our ability to protect ourselves. Before the Muslim man who tried to bomb New Yorkers was caught, the mayor of New York speculated that it was probably the work of a white home-grown right wing nutjob. That’s liberal thinking for you.

  • SLAMISFOX

SLAM just censored a comment I made that contained no racism, no unverifiable information, and no lies. But it did criticize Barack Obama’s policies. Thanks for stopping my thought-crime before it got out Slam. You’re definitely good party members. I wonder if taking shots at President Bush’s personal life would be censored as quickly as criticism of Barry’s actual policies. Shame on you, SLAM.

  • Maya Moore

Barack Obama usually says something stupid. Now watch as this gets absolutely no coverage from MSNBC, CNN, CBC, ABC, Associated Press, the NY Times, New Yorker Magazine, The Huffington Post, The View, Oprah, David Letterman, Jay Leno, The Daily Show, Time Magazine, etc. etc.

did anyone read what maya moore or citizen just wrote?

  • Citizen

Come on, SLAM. Just post my comment already. Don’t pick and choose who is allowed to voice their opinion. There’s nothing racist (read it again if you think so), nothing inflammatory or violent, and nothing that isn’t verifiable in my post. If you want to talk politics, then do it like Americans and let everyone have a voice.

  • Citizen

J-Bird- Also another example of emotional liberal thinking. If you say something that doesn’t line up with what we think, then shut up and go away. No retort, no debate, no openness to the idea that there might be some truth to a differing viewpoint. Just shut up and go away.

  • J-Bird

Who am I speaking to? Citizen or Maya Moore?
Anyway, what makes you think I’m not open minded, I love hearing all viewpoints and I’am grateful we have venues to discuss impotant topics like this.
As for your anti-Obama sentiments, clearly we strongly disagree.
Go watch Fox news and sean hannity pal, and have fun!!
    Go Los Suns!!

  • Maya Moore

Thanks J-Bird. Go watch MSNBC, CNN, CBC, ABC, Associated Press, the NY Times, New Yorker Magazine, The Huffington Post, The View, Oprah, David Letterman, Jay Leno, The Daily Show, Time Magazine, and the other shows run by the Liberal educated masses! Have fun! Go Orlando!

  • J-Bird

Yea you’re right, it’s hard to find the educated conservatives.

    Go Los Suns

  • rashado

“Strangely enough every act of terrorism in the last ten to fifteen years has been committed by Muslim men, and more than 50% of them have had Muhammed in their name.”

this is the by far the most ignorant racist thing i’ve ever read on this website. i’m arab muslim and i know first hand your government and the activities it sponsors is responsible for the lives of millions of innocent civilians through terrorist activities.

  • Maya Moore

Because Conservatives are all uneducated teabagging redneck racists, or because conservatives are clinging to guns and religion while ‘acting stupidly?’. Face it, J-Bird, there are millions of people who are intelligent hard-working good people that get dissed on a daily basis by all those Networks I mentioned, not to mention their President. You and Sean Penn and Rosie O’Donnell just call them names and tell them to shut up and go away while blindly ignoring the mistakes and slip-ups of the Commander-In-Training. You think the Democrats care about Mexicans trying to make a better life for themselves? They’re trying to create yet another dependent group of victims to vote for them while they reinforce the welfare state.

  • Maya Moore

RASHADIO: Is Islam a race? Funny, I thought it was a religion. When someone makes fun of Christianity or blames Jews for the world’s problems I’d bet you don’t speak up to defend those groups.

Thanks for illustrating so beautifully to everyone here the subversive bulls&it that Liberalism encourages. Good thing people won’t be bullied for long.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/CathedralsRecords?feature=mhw4 Earl

Look at those last two comments! :) 100% Right.

  • J-Bird

Maya/Citizen, are these “millions of people who are intelligent hard-working good people that get dissed on a daily basis” tea-party members? If so, I havent heard many bright ideas coming from that bunch, just a whole lot of sunscreen and high blood pressure.
If they’re not tea party members, who are they? Why dosent Fox news give them a voice. I would love to hear from these “dissed” citizens.

    Again, Go Los Suns!!

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com Dutch Rich

@ Maya Moore; Sean Penn is probably too busy cleaning rubble in Haiti and trying to make sure people have clean water and aren’t getting raped in the camps. I haven’t checked on Rosie lately. I’m happy you know of some that have presidential experience that we can put in office instead. Is there an institution that offers President degrees that the rest of us don’t know about? Wellfare state huh, I guess you’re proposing having the latino community (Mexicans as you call them) work for free?

  • http://www.sonicbids.com doyouwantmore

I’m pretty sure the people coming into Arizona illegally are mostly coming in from Mexico. Just sayin’. – - – Also if I can chime in about Tea Party people, the bright ideas they stand for are: lowering taxes and supporting a free market economy. They’re not just rednecks with signs, despite what CNN shows. – - – And I think Obama’s leadership is in question, not his qualifications. He’s clearly a well-spoken guy who understands politics, but not really much of a leader know’m'sayin? He’s more like a College Professor who suddenly gets to test his political theories in real life. – - – And we don’t even know what kind of education he really has, because he refuses to disclose his grades from University. – - – Also, if anyone wants to respond to what I wrote here, try to address the points I brought up, rather than comment on me as a person.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

doyouwantmore, I disagree with what you’re saying, as a person.

  • http://www.sonicbids.com doyouwantmore

LOL In what other way would you disagree Teddy? As a bear? Or are you saying you’re not sure I’m a person? And is that because I disagree with you, because I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • J-Bird

@doyouwantmore, arent “lowering taxes and supporting a free market economy” just republican slogans? I’ll clarify, when I said bright I meant new, or innovative.

  • sush carter

this is a pretty interesting string…@citizen & @ maya moore…maybe just take all those muhammads and throw them in a concentration camp somewhere with all the illegals and robert sarver eh?

  • Maya Moore

J-Bird: No, those things are economic policies, but unless it comes from someone in Hollywood or Barry Obama, you can’t comprehend something beyond a slogan.

Sush Carter: That’s what Liberal media has taught you to do, right? Take a valid point from someone you disagree with, put words in their mouth, and then respond to the “in other words, what that means is…” accusation that you came up with in the first place. It’s bull%hit and dishonest and deep down, you know it. So, no, I would not put anyone in a concentration camp. I would however, be all for increasing scrutiny of Muslim men with Muhammed in their name, the one thing that our politically-correct culture refuses to do, for fear of offending someone or, gasp, being accused of racism. (That’s not racist, because Islam is a religion.)

  • J-Bird

@mayamoore, read what doyouwantmore wrote, then read my response :) .
Also, thanks for clarifying, you’re not for racism, just religious persecution.

  • chintao

I don’t think people actually realize how much of the U.S.’s economy is dependent upon illegal labor. Without it, many things people take for granted would become much more expensive, and lots of businesses might have to shut their doors. Also, some “real” Americans might have to do certain jobs that they can turn their noses up at right now.

Everybody wants to skate the surface of the U.S.’s problems. The reality is that Obama, Fox, CNN, maya moore, Wilford Brimley, J-Bird, doyouwantmore, and Citizen are all on the same team. They just don’t know it. Times Square was another power grab by a rapacious government that is seeking to abridge civil liberties yet further. People are being factionalized and turned against one another, because it makes them easier to govern and, if necessary, marginalize, persecute, imprison, and/or kill. The government is inching us toward Orwellian dystopia. The Arizona law is just another step in that direction.

  • Maya Moore

Chintao, I almost guarantee you’re going to be a very conservative guy in ten to fifteen years. And to clarify further, I’m not for religious persecution. (Once again, you can’t say “In other words you mean…” and then accuse the person of being guilty of the thing that you put on them. It’s manipulative and controlling and you know it!) I’m for common sense. I’m saying that arbitrarily screening little old ladies and confiscating baby bottles could be time better spent screening Muslim males. Yet another bull&hit liberal, emotional, reactionary argument that diverts blame and creates false victimhood. Screening Islamic males within a certain age range is NOT religious persecution. Telling someone “you can’t be Muslim” is religious persecution. Nice try though.

Maya/Citizen, do you know how ignorant you sound? hunt down anyone with Muhammed in their name, mind you that you didnt say first or last name, so I guess Muhammed Ali is at risk lol, didnt think about that did you? all jokes aside that is beyond belief, better security is needed no half brained ideas like that, what if some one attacked you based on what your name is? not cool when you at risk is it, its like if you get profiled just cause someone with the same skin color did something bad assuming they are all bad. oh wait that does happen. so lay off we had 8 years of your idiot, give us at least 4 with ours

  • Buppie

    Bravo, LOS SUNS!
Doyouwantmore: you’re right. They are not just rednecks with signs. They are stupid rednecks with misspelled signs.

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

Buppie is right. Tell a tea party member that federal taxes are the lowest they have been in 60-years, and they’ll call you a liar. It’s mind numbing. I’ve talked with many members are a protest, and none of them knew anything about politics. It’s entirely possible I only spoke with the uneducated bunch, but some of them are so mislead…
Maya and Citizen are part of the world’s biggest hypocrites. Take away their guns, and they’re screaming that you’re breaking the second amendment. But racial profiling? That’s a-okay, even though it’s in violation of the fourth amendment. Being a specific ethnicity is NOT A PROBABLE CAUSE. F it, can I search every redneck in a trailer because they’re making meth? If not, then we can’t search every dude on the street who looks like he’s from mexico because he may be a drug dealer. The majority of them are not drug dealers.
When it comes to immigration, I’m usually more conservative. I’m for heavy border patrol, I was for the walls… but Americans should be given the benefit of the doubt of being American citizens. This is not a police state. The republicans are turning this country into COMMUNIST RUSSIA, what they accuse every democrat of.
It’s sick, and it’s sad, and it’s downright hypocritical.

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore

Go back in my posts and show me once where I said that a certain race should be singled out. I said Islamic men, which is a religion. A racist is the worst thing you can call a person, and that’s the first thing you Liberal sheep bleat out when someone suggests that your ideology is part of the problem, and has been since the sixties. I feel like a parent trying to talk to sulky teenagers. And the ‘lowest taxes in 60 years’ number? That’s a figure straight from MSNBC and the White House. Way to think for yourself, Jukai. Statistics are easy to manipulate. The Tea Partiers are protesting not only the Federal Tax rate, but bailout, the Obama White House’s inability to create jobs, the broken campaign promises, and the Republican Party’s refusal to actually represent real people They are protesting the USE of those taxes (Social programs that do nothing but exist from year to year to secure more FEDERAL funding, School programs to promote ‘diversity’ and ‘family planning’ while kids are being told they aren’t allowed to wear the American flag to school. (That happened yesterday) The mainstream media has embraced protest every time someone throws a trash can through a Starbucks window or assemble to protest those stupid redneck racist Conservatives, but when MILLIONS of peaceful, intelligent, AVERAGE Americans assemble and create one of the first real protest movements in the last thirty years, the President and CNN respond by not only not taking those people seriously, but also name-calling. You’ve been fooled. And I think you know it. Do you? You do right?

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore
  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore
  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

doyouwantmore: Yeah, I’m the one who has been fooled. This from a guy who is telling me ‘statistics are easy to manipulate.’ Don’t you think, if the numbers were false, FOX would be all over it with proof? “Do you? You do right?”
Bottom line, FEDERAL TAXES ARE THE LOWEST THEY’VE BEEN IN SIXTY YEARS. The tea party has no valid complaints about Obama raising federal taxes.
    They don’t.
And let me tell you, there ARE valid complaints out there— a lot of Obama’s policies, mainly the healthcare bill, are going to force STATE taxes to be raised drastically in the very near future. Obama’s credit protection agency is a gamble and may well end up hurting the credit card problems facing the nation.
Do any tea party member seem to understand this?
None that I’ve talked too. None that I’ve seen. Matter of factly, I’ve never seen this fact mentioned once on any one of their platform worries.
Many polls show that, among tea party members, ~60% believe Obama has raised taxes (statistics are easy to manipulate, but I mean, they’re blatantly out there reciting this). Many of them also believe Obama wasn’t born in this country (sigh). The worst part is, the same polls show that tea party members seem to be well educated, college-degree, job-holding people… but the misinformation and propaganda that gets tossed around in these rallies is absurd. I certainly didn’t think all those tents out on the white house lawn protesting Bush was doing any good, but at least those people weren’t spreading MISINFORMATION.
I also scoff at the gesture that the tea party members are angry over ‘broken campaign promises.’ Polls show that anywhere between 40-60% of them consider themselves republicans, and the rest consider themselves independent. Barely any consider themselves democrats. How could they be ANGRY about broken campaign promises when they didn’t LIKE the campaign to begin with? Angry at the bailout? The bailout started by the republicans they put into office?
School programs that promote ‘diversity’ are created when there is actually a problem with diversity. If you feel there is a problem with nationalistic pride in America, perhaps create a program that will cause acceptance for those who wish to wear the flag to school… otherwise, I’m not sure where your complaint is COMING from. How will cutting these social programs suddenly make wearing the flag as clothing acceptable? The more I think about it, the more I’m befuddled about that point you just brought up. Why even mention that?

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore

Despite the fact that this is a public forum and that Obama and his policies are the actually the subject matter of the article I’m posting in, I bet there are people ready to tell me to just shut up and go away. Right? Because that’s what happens when someone with an opposing view criticizes liberalism and refuses to do the politically correct thing and roll over. You accuse them of racism, re-interpret what they say to fit what you already think of them, and tell them to shut up. The only comments on anyone’s actual racial background came from that Rashad dude and a few others. (Some of which were pretty disturbing, too…) And the sad thing is I’m a pretty good guy who loves basketball and performs hip-hop all over the country and works with youth-at-risk. But to you? “Duh, shut up racist!”

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

No one’s telling you to shut up. Stop playing the victim card here, christ.

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore

You mean campaign promises like: being bi-partisan? Creating jobs? Not hiring lobbyists? (broke that one on day one) Making family members off-limits for personal attacks? (ask the Palin family about that one, regardless of what you think of her) No more pandering to Wall Street? (Goldman-Sachs gave more to the Democrats than anyone else, a cool million to Obama’s campaign) etc. etc. – - – Tea Partiers are protesting the overarching ideology of Liberal Obama’s administration that funnels taxpayers money to create school programs that have everything to do with political correctness, sexual politics, and welfare-state victim quotas, rather than Math, English, and Science. — Yesterday six kids who wore American flag T-Shirts to school were ordered to turn them inside out or go home because the school was afraid the shirts would offend someone. Forget statistics and parties and all that crap and think about what direction America is heading when stuff like that happens. And the people who voted Obama in just keep on bleating and blundering along on ‘Hope and Change’ right over the cliff. You know why Obama’s motto was “Yes we can.” Not to give people hope. It was psychology, and very manipulative at that. It was a way to associate Mccain with “No you can’t.” Forget what you think of Mccain etc. and think about what that says about Obama inc. and their willingness to manipulate people’s feelings.

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore

And I count at least four times that, instead of answering some point I brought up, someone said something personal or told me or others to go away. It’s not that I’m hurt, it’s that I’m trying to illustrate the lows that people will stoop to in order to deflect, rather than answer, an argument from someone who thinks your melting pot of political correctness and pseudo-political drivel are not well thought-out. And for the record I don’t automatically classify as ‘right-wing’ or a fan of Bush, just because I think Obama is as bad, or worse than him. It’s not Tea Partiers and Sarah Palins and Joe the Plumbers that demand that people be classified by their race or sexual orientation or political party. That’s you guys from all the evidence I see here and all over the media.

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore

And by the way, using Christ’s name like that is truly deeply offensive to me, and others. Does that make me racist? Would you curse out the Prophet or Allah to a Muslim just as quick or would you think twice because you don’t want to offend?

  • http://www.bighollywood.com doyouwantmore

And Tyreke Evans deserved the Rookie-Of-The-Year award.

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

Okay, first off, read the recovery report: 100 days 100 projects (lamest federal title ever). That alone created 150,000 jobs, and while many of them were short term, it was a drastic help to the nation. I applauded this and thought it was a great start in the right direction
Then the whole ‘healthcare debacle’ totally took over democratic policy, and the creation of new jobs was sidelined… even after the 100days100projects job ended, the administration focused on healthcare instead of job creation. I was a bit angry about this myself– I wasn’t entirely for or against healthcare reform (didn’t like the plan, not sure we’d ever see something better) but thought it should be put on the backburner while the economy was fixed. I can point fingers at Republicans who tried to sabotage the healthcare bill and prolonged its clearly inevitable process for nearly a year… but I wont, since it’s not something Obama HAD to focus on.
Now, what I can blame the republican party on is opposing many of the green-energy changes Obama wants to do, which will create a sh*tstorm of jobs in the future. I know they appreciate the job create and don’t like things like whole cap-and-trade thing… I don’t like how everything has to be passed in ONE BIG BILL and can’t be split or added retroactively as time passes by… but that’s politics… it’s easier to pass something if it’s done all at once… but don’t kid yourself; so yes, a large blame on the Obama administration, but don’t kid yourself— job create is slow because of a LOT of Republican dissent on nearly every bill Obama tries to pass.
But hey, you’re right on a lot of yer hate— Obama has been in bed with more lobbies and wall street than I really wanted him to be. He’s meandered on a lot of baseless policies and hasn’t focused on what I feel is important. He has CERTAINLY not tried to be bipartisan.
I just think it’s ironic that you and your republican cohorts are ‘angry about broken campaign promises’ when you DIDN’T VOTE FOR HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE. Shouldn’t you be happy that he broke his promises if you didn’t like them?
ALSO, TO FURTHER PROVE A POINT: Obama never said -anything- about Palin’s family. That was proven false YEARS ago. You’re spreading the same lies that you’ve been fed, kid. Did you ever bother to look up what Obama and Biden said? Did you ever try and google it, or bing it, or hell, even alta vista it? Do yourself a favor, do it now and educate yourself.
The rest of what you’re saying is near crazy ranting and pointless points. You’re saying Obama’s slogan was created to change people’s minds and get votes? NO WAY! I can’t believe it! My view of the political world has totally altered! I have to flee to Canada!
And once again, I don’t get your point about the American flag T-shirts… While it was semi-obvious what the kids were up to, the vice-principle had NO RIGHT to ask them to take off their caps and turn their shirts inside out— he had no PROOF that it was an attack on mexican immigrants, just an inkling. That man should be fired, or at least several reeducated and demoted. The same reason that the VP had no right to ask those children to remove their American flag clothing is THE SAME REASON WHY THE COPS HAVE NO RIGHT TO PULL OVER EVER SINGLE -MEXICAN LOOKING FELLOW THEY SEE ON THE STREET-
    ^^^^^^
read my last point over and over again.
