Brandon Bass Wants More Minutes Next Season

The question of why the Magic played Bass inconsistent minutes this season was a question in the first place. Via the Orlando Sentinel: “Bass signed a four-year, $16 million contract as a free agent last summer, but was used sparingly during the season. An active 6-foot-8, 250-pounder with a nice touch, he averaged about 12 minutes in Games 4 and 5. “It’s been great. I live to play in the playoffs,” he said. “For me to be out there and contributing it’s great for me. How tough has it been for me? It’s been tough. Nobody wants to sit on the bench. I just continued to work. ‘I just felt at some point I was going to be needed.’”

He deserves it!! He is a BEAST!!

He deserves more minutes. One of the many mysteries/failings of SVG this season was excluding Bass from the regular rotation. Bass is a better bench bigman than any of the bench players he would have matched up with on the Celtics. The Magic deserved to lose for not utilizing a talented player like him especially when they acquired him in such an unprofessional manner. They basically stole him and then reneged on their deal with the Mavericks by matching the Gortat offer. (Granted, there was no physical deal but it is clear that the Mavs would not have just let Bass go like that. He was an olive branch for Gortat. Hell, Gortat doesn’t even want to play in Orlando.) The Magic got what they deserve and it will be unlikely that any GM has any serious dealings with them this summer. FREE BASS!

He should have gotten minutes, because he is way better than Glen Davis and he played for the Celtics, so why can’t Bass play when Lewis was stinking it up for the first three games.

I like SVG but he should try a more traditional rotation and lineup next year.

Vince needs to go. The Gods will not reward a team with a chip if they’ve got Vag Carter. Buy him out. He’s worthless. He can’t even sell tickets anymore so not even a cellar-dweller has use for him.

i don’t think it’s quite fair to say Bass is better than Big Baby, let alone “way better” since he’s yet to really prove himself (although he hasn’t had much of a chance), but from the little I’ve seen, Bass is clearly talented. unfortunately, when SVG had to choose between calling on a reserve and hoping his starting PF got it going, he chose the latter. hopefully he gets more opportunities next year.

Bass was a beast in Dallas! but orlando uses only 1…

svg sucks at subbing guys and establishing a set rotation. nothing new. great x and o guy, okay motivator, atrocious for subs and time outs.

I don’t think the Celtics would trade Big Baby for Bass? I think the Magic would.. Therefore, Big Baby’s a better player. But wow does Bass have potential. Big Baby got opportunities and I think that a couple years from now Bass will be a good player on a good team or a really good player on a bad team

Can’t believe a guy that actually plays hard would sit on the bench on this team.. Actually I can because being soft is what the Magic symbolizes to me lol.. Rashard Lewis is a joke, VC is a human pylon on defense, and until Dwight can learn how to catch the ball, turn around, and shoot a jump shot his post game will be a joke.. How do you play basketball for 10 years plus and not be able to shoot a turn around jumper anyway??

the two games bass play significant minutes, orlando won that’s it

If only the magic could get rid of Rashard and Vince they would be much better off, i guess they feel they have to play them to justify the money they make…..Larry Brown would make these guys a championship team.

Orlando doesn’t realise that Dwight won’t actually win them anything….they should trade him whilst he’s worth something.

Dacre thats too much of a statement.. as for bass., i basically agree in every comment.. the guy is such a physical force. i think he could match up well with kg or perk had he given a chance. too late.

svg is not a good coach…………….been tellin u this all season long…any other franchise would have handed him the pink slip….his players dont have are know their role. jj reddick should go to the suns where he can get more attemps he is the alltime greatest 3point shooter in college history……..wow i could manage dat team… first thing i would do is get rid of jameer and dat coach move dwight to power foward and bring rashad off the bench he would still get his 8 point per game….i really think that franchise dont have there heart set on really winning a championship. who in dat front office is a winner no one thats including the coaching staff on down. now compare boston in la their players r surrounded by champions

It seemed like the Magic could have used Bass. But typically guys that don’t play extended minutes for a reason. They can’t cover their defensive assignments, fhey constantly call for the ball every trip down the floor etc. If Bass had been playing good, setting screens, rebounding, etc, he would have been on the floor.
