Danny Ainge Regrets Towel ‘Incident’; Fined

Ainge tells the press that what he did in Game 1 of the Cavs/Celtics series was “unprofessional.” He forgot to add that it was also hilarious. From the Boston Herald: “What I’m most regretful about is that our team is playing well, and people are talking about a towel being thrown,’ said the Celtics president of basketball operations. ‘I shouldn’t draw attention away from our team like that. It was unprofessional. It’s not something I’ll lose a lot of sleep over, but it’s something I regret.’ But the moment was good for several laughs on the team. ‘I just heard it this morning from (Ainge),’’ said Paul Pierce. “He’s just a fan of the game.’ Said Doc Rivers: “I didn’t know about it. I was up in my dungeon doing my work and my cell phone was going off and off. So when I saw it I got a good laugh. He was going back to his playing days.’’’

UPDATE: Danny received a $25,000 slap on the wrist from NBA HQ today for his behavior.

Ainge doesn’t regret is action. He doesn’t care. If it was in Boston it wouldn’t be an issue.

Danny’s not sweating it as they just saved $2 mil by benching Nate for a bit. F*cking stupid NBA. Don’t fine people when they don’t break any rules. NBA: where creating a police state atmosphere happens. Do they think that ALL GMs are going to start doing this now? Are they trying to “send a message” to put a stop to this potential problem before it becomes widespread? Are the other GMs just itching to look like as much of a dipsh*t as Danny did? F*ck you, David. F*ck you, Stu. Worry about the poor refereeing. That should be your #1 (and #2 and #3) focus. Don’t worry about this nonsense.

He regrets being fined, not throwing the towel.
