David Stern Wants LeBron James to Stay in Cleveland

Stern put a smile on Cavs fans’ faces, with his comments about LeBron’s impending free agency. NBA.com has the quotes: “NBA commissioner David Stern knows Cleveland fans are anxious about this summer and LeBron James’ pending free agency. He is rooting for the same outcome as Cavaliers fans. ‘Hopefully he’ll stay,’ Stern said Monday before Game 2 between Cleveland and Boston in the Eastern Conference semifinals. ‘That’s the way the system is designed.’ Stern helped negotiate the current collective bargaining agreement, which provides teams the ability to pay more and add an extra year for their own free agents. Stern is hopeful that will allow teams such as Cleveland to retain its stars. ‘That’s the way it should be,’ Stern said. ‘It allows teams to keep their own players.”‘

Coming from the same guy who “designed” the 2003 Lottery for Cleveland to get the #1 pick.

Mr. Stern always knows what hand to show and when to show it.

    1) Looking at what he just said, “which provides teams the ability to pay more and add an extra year for their own free agents.” You will instantly know if players play for money, or to win.
    2) Usher probably asked David Stern to say that so Lebron could stay =P

David wants the crab dribbler to stay in Ohio. The boy knows better than
go against stern. Without the crab dribble and “no one touches the queen” treatment, bronbrons lack of any fundamentals will be exposed. Stay in Cleveland as the master has ordered

All Stern is trying to imply is that with James in Cleveland it keeps competitive balance. For instance; what if bron, wade, bosh, amare, etc… all choose to sign in the West??? Then all the real dominant players are all out west with nothing for the EAST Coast fans to watch or a star to root for. But, I do think its out of place for him to speak abt this especially during the playoffs! Good intentions Stern, but not a good soundbite…

I write it here first. Lebron will be in CHICAGO. Theyre waiting on a coach LBJ Likes. A phill Jax/Chitown reunion in the works? Think about it… it makes your head spin

it might make your head spin, but if i’m Lebron (**5 min pause for an f-ing cool daydream**), that situation would say “living in the MJ shadow” for me. he’d be a failure if he won anything less than 7 titles there.

Michael Scorn – what a great comment. i can see the League Planning Meeting 2002 now… where should we send LeBron? Cleveland! It’s a great untapped market full of limitless resources…

d**nit guys, you’ll be saying next that the jews were responsible for 9/11
enough with the conspiracies just see what happens, stern wants him there for whatever reasons, who gives a d*mn? i think he should stay its his home state but d*mn, if he goes somewhere else he’ll still earn big money, dude probably makes more out of commercials and shoes that he does his contract

Hey stern, why dont you fine your own ass 250k and shut the hell up. If Cuban, a fudging owner of his own god damn team gets fine for saying i would love to him or something like that, how the hell can the COMMISSIONER of the league get away with a comment as forward as that. Dont get involved in his decision, hes a free agent the commissioner should not be tampering like that. Nazi-stern stricks again. Thanks for Ewing, but if Lebron doesnt come to NY i will kill you. thanks
