Deron Williams Hopes to Avoid Wrist Surgery

D-Will tells the Salt Lake Tribune that he doesn’t want to go under the knife this summer, and risk missing out on playing for Team USA in the World Championships: “Before he can commit to playing for USA Basketball at this summer’s FIBA world championships, Deron Williams said Tuesday he first will rest his injured right wrist for the next month to month-and-a-half in the hopes that surgery won’t be necessary. ‘That’s the last thing I want to do is have surgery,’ Williams said, adding, ‘I’ve just got to rest it first and hopefully that takes care of it and I can play.’ Williams is expected to take a leadership role on the U.S. team, especially with several members of the 2008 Olympic team likely opting not to return, including possibly LeBron James , Dwyane Wade and Kobe Bryant.”
