Nate Robinson Might File A Grievance

Nate needed to play in Boston’s remaining 28 games to earn the bonus. He played 21-straight games before falling into Doc Rivers’ doghouse two weeks before the end of the regular season. Via the Globe: Robinson’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, facilitated the deal with the Celtics in hopes of getting his client that additional $1 million. Now his representatives are attempting to determine whether the $1 million the Celtics saved prevented them from exceeding the NBA luxury tax, which would cost the team $2 million for surpassing $71 million in player salaries.”

    Was Nate playing regularly w/ the knicks before the trade? He sat just like Daniels sat (whom I wish would get some more PT) so what’s the big deal. Most teams shorten their rotation right before seasons end in order to get things right. Non issue, don’t make it one. I know how to kill this noise..Who is better at checker,s Kobe, LBJ, Carmelo or Wade??? lol

    He should. The Celtics are screwing him, plain and simple. Let’s face it: $2 Million is A LOT of money no matter how you see it. Does he absolutely NEED the money when he’s already making millions? Of course not. But the ORGANIZATION needs it even less–and considering it’s the PLAYERS who makes the teams what they are, well, I’d obviously rather see the PLAYER end up with the money.

    Crafty move by NY to bench him for all those games, knowing that any team trading for him would be able to save on the tax. I don’t think Nate should file a grievance. As a Knicks fan, I should file a grievance against him for all his terrible shots and general suckiness.

    @bostonballer, it’s about damn time celts fans started getting upset about marquis not playing, maybe ur not quite to the point yet that i’m at, but damn… tony allen? really? i know hes played well this year, but he still cant dribble, cant hit a jumper, isnt capable of making a smart basketball decision, and really isnt that strong of a defender anymore, especially on a bigger, athletic monster like bron… celts need to send quis at lebron more (giving pierce a rest and not letting bron just destroy tony allen consistently) and let him post his man up on offense and take some pressure off rondo and ray on that end. He’s the one valuable guy on the bench because he can play and defend three positions, including some point, which we could desperately use some backup help at, but yet doc sticks with tony allen for “defensive purposes”… when defensive purposes becomes defined as fouling guys taking jump shots, send me that memo… and nate made what 4.something mil this year? get over it homie

    here’s a third celtics fan who’d like to see ‘quis get more playing time. besides Pierce and Ray, who, though they’re not great defenders, are still capable of playing very good defense, we have two defensive specialists–TA and Quis–and yet we’re only using one? going against lebron? doesn’t seem to make much sense. Like TA, Quis isn’t great on offense, but Quis can do a better job of running the point than he can, and is just as effective as a cutter to the basket. hope Doc gives all this some thought.

    Let me get this straight: The C’s holding Robinson out a few games prevents them from going into the Luxury Tax? I guarantee you, EVERY team in the L would do the same exact thing to a spot minutes bench player.

    As for Robinson filing a grievance, this dude will be a free agent who already has a ‘difficult’ tag on him ( deserved or not). I don’t think filing a grievance is going to help him score a new contract in the off season.
