Also, Chris Bosh and David Lee >>> Andrew Bogut.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Stop bringing in team records to everything, oh my gosh. If we’re talking team success then Robert Horry should have been a perennial All-NBA selection. We’re talking PLAYERS here.

  • Jacob (from Australia)

1st – Dwight, Durant, Bron, Kobe & Nash, 2nd – STAT, Dirk, Melo, Wade, D.Will, 3rd – Bogut, Gasol, Wallace, Johnson, Rondo. Might as well make a 4th coz we can :P – Lopez, Bosh, Randolph, Manu, Kidd.

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com Michael NZ

Teddy, I’ll give you Bosh over Bogut, but Lee? Not so much. And I just don’t think Kobe or Wade can be taken off for Deron. 2nd squad is right for him.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Michael Scorn

@ripslam- “he’s playing with Mo Williams, Shaq, Antawn Jamison, and one of the deepest benches in the league.” Yeah, but none of those guys are all-stars. thus, a suck squad.

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

rondo definitely got snubbed. i don’t see how roy makes it over him, especially considering rondo’s career year, while roy was missed so many games and his number were down across the board

  • Spetsnaz

When did Amare center this year?

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

they need to start doing this by position, theres no way deron shouldnt be on the first team. he is the best pg in the league.

  • Spetsnaz

When did Amare PLAY center this year?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ Michael NZ: It’s time for people to STOP underrating David Lee, and, I’m sorry to say it, STOP overrating Andrew Bogut.
Bogut had a great year, and he’s improved his game a lot, this is true. He helped his team get to the playoffs, and his defense has been outstanding. This is also true. But let’s take his season for what it really was–a 16 and 10 season.
I’d rather have David Lee’s 20.2 ppg, 11.7 rpg, and 3.6 apg any day of the week.
You really can’t argue that Bogut is better than Lee… Lee averaged more points, rebounds, and assists, AND shot a better percentage from the field.
The only thing Bogut had on him was blocked shots–and I’ll admit, he wipes the floor with Lee in that area and that area ONLY.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Lee is not that bad of a defender anymore, and, let’s face it, 3.6 assists per game is pretty damn impressive for any big man.
I like Bogut and I hope to see him only get better (which it looks like he will), but Lee’s work over the course of this season needs to be commended in the basketball community.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

They should have taken Wade off of 1st Team and put Deron Williams there. But of course they wouldn’t do that… Wade, Kobe, and LeBron are the league’s poster children–that’s why Kobe and LeBron had to randomly appear on the All Defensive 1st Team without any business being there at all.

  • http://250aspirin.blogspot.com DJ Leon Smith

I love the people who say David Lee is better than Bogut, shows the people who don’t watch games and just look at boxscores.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Wow, ‘Drew Bogut got recognition. FANTASTIC. I have no issues with this year’s selections. Great Job, Nba.

  • Roc

    Real first team:

    C – Howard
    F – Durant
    F – Randolph
    G – Bryant
    G – Nash

  • KB24

Why does everybody love Steve Trash so much?
    -
THE ONLY REASON HE HAS 2 MVPS IS BECAUSE HE IS WHITE

  • Royal

Steve Nash was born in Africa and plays in the NBA, he is probably more black than me and you combined KB24

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

    Royal for the win!!!
Spetsnaz: Amare played a combined 30 hours at the center spot this season. But for some reason, the NBA wants him listed as a center. I do not know why. They have a problem with Frye being listed as a center (even though that’s the actual position he plays on Phoenix’s offense) but had no problem with Okur being the center and Boozer being the power forward… when they acted the exact same way as Frye/Amare.
I dun get it, but whatever. Can’t believe both Wade and Kobe got first team. Ugh.

  • dino

What no Bosh no Rondo no G Wallace no D Lee no Billups no Z Bo and no Boozer. D will shoulda been 1st team Wade 2nd. The All NBA teams are never 100% right. I’m Australian and i think Lee is better than Bogut im happy for Bogut but he is only there cause the Bucks made the playoffs and the Knicks suck. Dlee = underated 3rd team Gasol Bosh Lee Rondo JJ

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Hmmm actually I have no complaints about these, except for Rondo. I love Chris Bosh – not however in a “white hot” way – but on hindsight, how can you argue putting him over any of the 3rd team frontliners? Bogut got his arguably lesser talented squad into the playoffs. Duncan and Gasol’s squads might very well meet in the WCF, and both of them played integral roles on their teams’ success.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Bosh has done everything you can ask for on the court for the Raps for the last few years, and then some. People question his leadership ability – with good reason, actually. Someone has to be that locker room presence. Sam Mitchell was that guy for a few years and the Raps did well, improving each year. We replaced Sam with a coach constantly in denial (“I thought we played hard?”), and Chris Bosh had to step up and be that voice, which I am really sad to say he didn’t. He is a hell of a player and he gave a lot of effort, bled for the club. But I just don’t think it’s in his character to be a leader, and that’s not a knock on him, that’s just how things are.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

There are great players and there are great players who also are leaders of men. Kobe, MJ, Duncan, Lebron, Magic and Bird, Shaq, etc. belong to the latter. I would even put guys like Patrick Ewing, Stockton, Nash, Kidd, GP in that category, ring or not. The teams they lead embody their aura and attitude. This “oneness” leads to success.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Bosh just isn’t one of them. He’s just not an alpha male. Is that a sin? How many of you commenters are alpha males? How many moronic booing Raptor fans out there are? There are many players in history with Bosh’s ability who just aren’t cut out to be the no 1 guy. T-Mac and Vince, ironically both former Raps, are the same. Kids scoff at T-Mac, but in the early 2000s you could put a hand in his face and jump at him, and he’s still hit a 3-point fadeaway on you. Same with guys like Rashard Lewis (too nice?), Dirk, Melo, Gasol, etc. World class players, but not the top dog type who can bend a team to their will and have that type of positive influence.

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

Uhhh I wouldn’t put Ewing in that category. Great player, too ‘me first’ to be a great leader. Even Jordan let Pax/Pippen/Kerr/Grant hit game winners. I still remember Ewing’s finger roll where two Knicks were open.

  • http://hoopistani.blogspot.com Hoopistani

yup… roy chosen over rondo is my only real beef

  • J

    Deron was robbed.

  • J

@nbk yes they had a great late push in the latter part of the season because of him. latter part. Dwill lead his team to the same 5th seed in the WEST. he is consistent throughout the year. throughout the year.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

@Jukai: Right. Ewing’s stamp on the Knicks was nonetheless a lot bigger than Bosh’s on the Raptors. I’ve defended him to death over the past few years, but I think he really just is the American Pau Gasol: ludicrous ability, the heart/voice of a pussycat. All the best to him next year though. Bah.

  • rikson

    @DJLeonSmith: agree 100%…

  • bashmo

honestly…the first team is great, cant deny it, but i want to see steve nash somewhere up there…just my opinion, since he had an excellent season, led the league in assists, shot 50% from the field and +40% from the 3pt line…all while leading phx to a 53 win, 3rd seed position in the playoffs, after not making the postseason last year. he really put it on himself to get things done, and did. just my two cents.

  • bashmo

oh and yeah, b-roy over rondo is bull, considering rondo’s spectacular year, but oh well. Oh and DEFINITELY Bosh over Bogut…put gasol at Centre if you like, but take bogut OUTTA there, no disrespect, Bosh had a better season than he did, averaged about 9 more points, same # of boards…while dealing with injury in the process. Not only that, but he was an ALL-STAR. I commend bogut for playing well after the break, but CB4 had it going on the whole season.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Can’t argue with anyone on the list, or where they are placed on the list. Bogut was a slight surprise, but not really. He deserved it over Horford.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Brandon Roy is better than Rondo and he had a better year. In my opinion. Nobody who got left off the list got snubbed, they just weren’t better this year than the folks ahead of them.
And, David Lee is a not a good defender. He’s a good scorer, great rebounder and good passer, but he is freaking horrible on defense.
He is not better than Bogut, who blocks shots and can score on the block against many bigs. Lee has no post moves.

  • The Philosopher

The League pretty much got it right again.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

LOL Allenp, “Lee has no post moves.” Come on, 20 ppg is still 20 ppg no matter how you see it, and he’s fantastic IN THE PAINT where it matters. Bogut can “score on the block” all he wants but Lee is still going to outscore him. And I don’t think you’ve watched him enough because he is actually quite good posting up now.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Dude, Jukai, Ewing does belong with those guys if you’re talking about being a leader.. Come on now.

  • http://www.nba.com/suns Dacre

    awesome teams.

  • Shem

CB4 is the best PF in the L! PERIOD. He has the best stats (and of course good stats on a bad team mean nothing) BUT i guarantee the Lakers would swap Pau for Bosh, same with the Spurs. I m not sure about the Mavs because that team is built around Dirk’s playstyle. Also, a lot of players out of position on these teams. KD doesn’t play power, Nash isn’t a sg and Duncan ain’t a small.

  • J

^ it doesn’t matter. the selection is just based on 2 guards 2 forwards and a center.
