Obama’s Finals Pick: Lakers Over Celtics

Barack, like most, assumes L.A. and Boston will meet for the Larry O’Brien trophy in June, and predicts the Lakers will exact revenge on their arch rivals: “President Barack Obama bonded with the Lakers when they were the first NBA team to visit him in the White House earlier this year. Now Obama expects the Lakers to beat the Boston Celtics, assuming they meet in the upcoming NBA Finals. “Boston surprised me,’ Obama said in a TNT interview with Marv Albert. ‘They gelled in the playoffs in a way that they hadn’t all through the season. (Rajon) Rondo’s become one of the best point guards in the league in no time. I mean, when he gets a real jump shot, he’s going to be unstoppable. But I’ve got to go with the Lakers again. I think (Pau) Gasol may be the best big man in the league right now. He’s different from Dwight Howard, but he’s (got) unbelievable footwork, speed, savvy. He’s playing magnificently. Kobe (Bryant) is the fiercest competitor in the league, and they’ve got what I continue to believe is the best coach in the NBA right now in Phil Jackson, so they’re going to be formidable, and I think it’ll be a tough series.’”

    Obama knows his stuff

Uhm…Barry picked the Colts in the Super Bowl too and didn’t even have Duke advancing to the Final Four in his bracket for the tourney this year…..just saying.

  • ber

MTE, Eboy. I’m happy with his pick based on his record.

  • TyMo

I like how he waited until the Celts were up 3-0 and the Lakers 2-0 to make his bold prediction.

  • Nash

When Boston beats LA in 6 games, KG will curse out Obama’s ass on national TV.

  • BostonBaller

Front runners come in all walks of life…There is a major oil spill that needs more attn given to it.

  • vtrobot

Politicians are the biggest frontrunners of all. More empty promises. Because of Obama’s prediction, Sheed might feel disrespected and not shake his hand when the C’s visit. Just like he did during the visit when Bush lived there. One of the many reasons why Sheed is one of the greatest ever.

  • vtrobot

@ BostonBaller: Very well put. The oily pelicans and the people whose livelihoods and homes have been forever ruined don’t give a f*ck about who wins. They should try to stuff that leak with Marv’s wig. That thing looked amazing in the sun. You rarely see it outside. Old man with Ken doll hair. Awesome.

even more the fuel for the suns fire

Like others already stated, he needs to concentrate on his job. I’m suprised this guy gets any work done with all his sports watching and predicting, late night talk show interviews, home and garden magazine interviews, and the rest of his overly photo op driven life. There’s just something about picking a finals winner and giving Barkley a hard time about his golf swing that takes away from the prestige of his position. Be the damn president, not one of the guys at the sports bar.

Obama’s predictions never fail. He knows BB.

Why the hell is this even post-worthy. I don’t give a rat’s ass what this statist thinks.

  • JD

    What a legendary President

  • T-Money

I’m cool with Barack being a sports fan but he should chill on the sports interviews. The presidency has already been won, there’s no need to be liked right now. Make laws, make policies, fix problems. The only time I should be seeing him talk on TV is at press conferences.

  • mgballer

well im happy hes worrying about the more important issues in the world…SMH

He also picked the Lakers last year, so based on the other one’s I’ve seen above, he is 1 for 3 … not great.

Like half of all the people complaining about Obama were on his jock just a year and a half ago. I never liked dude (as a politician, but he’s real cool as a person)but hey, y’all wanted hope and change! Enjoy!

Mr. President, that howling sound you hear is Steve Nash turning republican

  • http://www.slamonline melvin ely

I meant conservative. I am well aware that Steve is Canadian, so. I suck. Ignore me.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the Front-Runner-in-Chief.” Why the fvck hasn’t the Gulf Coast been declared a federal disaster area? 1,200 National Guard tropps and half-a-bill to Arizona? It should be 12,000 National Guard troops and a billion dollars to the Gulf. FEMA ought be all over that sh!t (not that it would actually help), too. I’ve seen alot of shady stuff go down in my day, but even I am shocked at the naked indolence being showcased now. Who wants to bet that Halliburton somehow gets a massive contract out of this whole thing?

  • aroy

How many basketball games would Obama have to watch to surpass the last guys’s feat of spending 1/3 — that’s one f***ing third — of his presidency on vacation? 487 days at Camp David and 490 days at the ranch in Crawford.

That said, dude needs to take Carville’s advice and tell BP he their daddy.
