Perkins, Garnett Miss Practice

After winning Game 2 on Monday in Cleveland, the Celtics were riding high. Yesterday, Boston came back down to earth.

As reported by the Boston Globe: “Kevin Garnett sustained a right mid-foot strain near the end of the Celtics’ 104-86 Game 2 victory and was held out of practice. Rivers said Garnett wanted to practice but Rivers insisted he sit. Garnett is expected to play Friday in Game 3. ‘Honestly today, if we had a game, I don’t think he could have played,’ Rivers said. ‘We just have to wait and I doubt he practices [Thursday] and we’ll see. Perk will be all right.’ Perkins played through his injury — a hyper-extended right knee — in Game 2 and was suited up for practice but left early for some treatment. Rivers said Perkins will practice Thursday.”

In the six games he’s played in so far this postseason (KG’s missed one game due to suspension), Garnett is averaging 16.5 ppg and 9.2 rpg.

Does this worry any Celtics fans besides me?

It does a bit but it’s the playoffs which means they will suck it up and play. If either one doesn’t start or plays limited minutes w/out being in foul trouble then I start to worry. If KG doesn’t continue his KGish play then I worry.

I think it could be a factor considering KG is checking Jamison, and that foot could be problematic in keeping up with a PF as mobile as Antawn. Although, Jamison really isn’t lighting it up this series so far, so we’ll see.

it worries me. this series and then a 7-game battle with ORL would ensure a very banged up C’s team heading into the finals (if they can even pull that off, obviously). damn what the league and the fanboys want. i want the basketball gods to give me a BOS-PHX finals. prolly gonna be ORL-LAL though. f*ck it.

It’s okay, wen KG is injured usually BIG BABY dries his eyes and plays well.

@ Dacre: Although he’s very funny looking, Baby is no joke, man. For someone who literally gets the highest percentage of his shots blocked in the league, he’s still very effective and does a lot of damage. His game is obviously unique, but he’s a surprisingly quick and agile, decent jumper shooter for being such a doughboy. He uses that low center of gravity girth to body people nicely on D too. Baby will step up if necessary.

It all started on game 2 when Lebron blocked KG’s shot on one end in a very nasty way and then on the way back to score a lay up, Lebron got fouled but made sure he elbowed Garnett on the chest which made him fall very embarrasing… I think he got injured when he stood up and wanted to talk s****t like he always does but somehow his pride went down from his chest to his foot and caused a strain!!
