Bobcats Make Offer To Ty Thomas

According to the Charlotte Observer: “The Charlotte Bobcats have extended a qualifying offer to forward Tyrus Thomas, making him a restricted free agent. The move allows the Bobcats to match any offer Thomas receives from another team. Thomas came to Charlotte from Chicago in a February trade, and averaged 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in 25 games for the Bobcats.” He helped the franchise reach the Playoffs for the first time in their history–one of three firsts for the team, the other two being: Michael Jordan becoming the first former player to become a majority owner and Gerald Wallace becoming the first Bobcat to rep in the All-Star game.

So glad Chicago got rid of him. I was getting tired of Thomas thinking he was Rip Hamilton with all those mid-range J’s. Good luck in Charlotte, “T-Time”.

    BETcats, you here?

Tyrus already said he wants to stay with us long term. We have around 2-4 huge expiring contracts comming off the books at the end of the season. By giving Tyrus the QO, we get to retain him this year then give him the deal he deserves. Plus, it allows flexibility for this summer, as the deal we are going to give him will not be on the books yet. Power moves. Tyrus really fits in well here and is most likely a big part of future of our team for the next 5-8 years.

@BETcats, do you really want this guy to be part of the future for the next 5 to 8 yrs? i wouldn’t. N what do u mean by gettin him the contract he deserves? like 3 yrs n 10 million?

@BETcats: you better hope Ty Thomas doesn’t go Tim Thomas on you, because that’s what it’s looking like for his career. He had his honeymoon period with your squad, but I can see that ending sometime this year, when Larry Brown decides to push him harder than Vinny DN ever could. Sigh. Potential, potential, potential….
