Boston Celtics Pursuing Brad Miller?

Yahoo! has sources claiming that Boston wants Brad Miller to join their squad: “Miller and guard Ray Allen(notes) are expected to be the Celtics’ two top priorities in free agency following the retirement of Rasheed Wallace and a knee injury to Kendrick Perkins. The Celtics have their midlevel exception available to sign the 34-year-old Miller, who has the versatility to play the power forward and center positions. Several contenders are expected to pursue Miller, but sources say the chance to play for the defending Eastern Conference champions has significant appeal to him. The departure of Wallace clears $13 million off the Celtics’ books over the next two seasons and leaves them with a gaping hole on their frontline. Perkins tore ligaments in his right knee in Game 6 of the NBA Finals and faces a lengthy rehabilitation process. Despite durability issues during his career, Miller played 82 games for the Chicago Bulls last season and could give the Celtics a rugged presence with an inside-outside offensive game.”

When this Celtics era is over, and it will end with a tremendous crash…for humour’s sake, they HAVE to hire Tim Floyd.

  • riggs Posted: Jun.28 at 9:37 am
HELLLLLLLLL NO. wtf are they thinking?

  • Dacre Posted: Jun.28 at 9:44 am
THIS IS AN AWESOME PICK UP!!

  • COGGIE Posted: Jun.28 at 9:49 am
why not go after someone who isnt on the brink of retirement.

  • Dacre Posted: Jun.28 at 9:55 am
because they cant win and they want too much money for being a young punk.

  • madzie Posted: Jun.28 at 10:17 am
Hey guys this miller had already proven taht he can play center way back when he is still on kings i wish peja is also included in the boston team this will be enough to win another cham’ship team

  • deano Posted: Jun.28 at 10:20 am
    the Boston Retirement Home

  • Eboy Posted: Jun.28 at 10:20 am
He’s be a really good backup for the Celts….this is actually a smart move for them. A veteran, can hit the midrange J, good passer, plus Boston fans will love a consistent white contributor on the roster!!!!!

  • deano Posted: Jun.28 at 10:21 am
straight up, I know Rondo don’t like being around cats pushing 40 all the time lol.

  • Richard Posted: Jun.28 at 10:23 am
Miller is a great fit assuming he doesn’t break down. Celtics benefited from ‘Sheed’s demeanor and Miller will bring that even more. That being said, Celts will need a bit more than Miller to win the East again esp. if the winner of the Bron sweeps vaults into the top 4 of contenders.

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Jun.28 at 10:32 am
Miller is still a decent player. I saw tons of Bulls game this season, and he can give you something for about 20-25 minutes a night. Whether it’s shooting, passing or grabbing some boards. Don’t hate on Miller!

  • Roy Posted: Jun.28 at 10:40 am
To be honest, Brad Miller will be a good addition to the Celtics. They gonna need another big guy that can score a bit. I’m all for that one. :D

  • AutoRyan Posted: Jun.28 at 10:44 am
This is the chance to get a young energetic forward…..not the time to get older

  • Overtime Posted: Jun.28 at 12:13 pm
always liked miller and his game, would be good for him to be on a contender one last time…but not the celtics

  • Ianny B Posted: Jun.28 at 12:28 pm
celtics(not like I care anyway) run out of gas in the Finals. How’s Brad gonna help?????

  • rainman10 Posted: Jun.28 at 12:45 pm
@ Gerard, wasn’t Lebron’s team already in the top 4 of contenders??

  • rainman10 Posted: Jun.28 at 12:46 pm
brad miller is a diaomd in the ruff and and will add tremendous values to the celtics, great great player recognition by the boston front office

  • Hambone Posted: Jun.28 at 1:04 pm
look for them to sign Ben Wallace and (litterally)dig up Juwan Howard also

  • vtrobot Posted: Jun.28 at 1:13 pm
@rainman10: usually diamonds aren’t still “in the rough” 15 years after they’re discovered. @ deano: maybe rondo will pop him in the mouth again. @ The Boston Celtics: Please don’t do this.

I hope Miller stays with my Bulls (though he’d probably have to sign for the vet’s minimum) but he’d be a great addition to the Celts. Great jump-shooter for a big, good rebounder, one of the best passing big men in the NBA. He’s tough too, that crazy whiteboy from the backwoods of Indiana don’t take sh*t from anyone. People also forget he’s a former all-star, plus Joakim Noah has leartned a lot from Miller and now he’s being talked about as being potentially a future all-star himself. My only concern is, would he get along with them? Let’s not forget the ’09 playoffs when Miller nearly fought Big Baby, nearly fought Perk, was b*tch-slapped by Rondo and so on.

drop nate sign miller then bring back eddie house. al Harrington too for 6thman

  • Ronald Posted: Jun.28 at 2:08 pm
Good choice. But hasn’t Miller stated that he’s being thinking of retirement?

  • M Cho Posted: Jun.28 at 2:15 pm
    Bring back Eddie House!!

  • Moose Posted: Jun.28 at 3:34 pm
    @Eboy: I resent that. haha

  • kevin Posted: Jun.28 at 3:49 pm
why do the celtics always draft older players? thay should draft old and young at all posistions.gaurd one old one young, and so on. now your not caught trying to fill spots and it helps balance the bench. p.s sign doc for another season.

  • Hambone Posted: Jun.28 at 4:11 pm
great move for Brad, look at all the time Mike Finley got.

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Jun.28 at 4:31 pm
He doesnt have anything close to sheeds defense.

  • [...] The Boston Celtics are looking to get even older by adding Brad Miller. [Slam Magazine] [...]

  • Allenp Posted: Jun.28 at 5:05 pm
Brad Miller is not “rugged.” That is a damn lie. And, he plays NO defense. He ain’t even in the same zip code as Sheed.

  • MillionaireCafeLA Posted: Jun.28 at 7:55 pm
    Lakers here;
Brad miller is very good at filling several
needs. Celts are a great team, this is a
good acquisition. Rasheed gone will have an affect of Celts
playoff model, experience. Factually speaking, KG body is not what it once
was, Glen and Perkins will have to step up. But, none of this fills the center position void. Look for Bynum, Gasol, Lamar, & Artest to be improved players, not to mention the true MVP. Celts vs. Lakers again… It doesnt get any better..

  • Jose Posted: Jun.28 at 8:33 pm
is it strange that when i read the headline i remember Brad Miller Missing them 2 free throws in the playoffs vs. the C’s.lol

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Jun.28 at 9:12 pm
actually, I’m reading now that the Rockets are out to get him…

  • reggae Posted: Jun.28 at 9:25 pm
it’s a nice idea, miller contributed a lot during his time in bulls. celtics never regret if they pick brad miller..

  • BostonBaller Posted: Jun.28 at 11:07 pm
It’s funny how a lot of people are questioning the C’s for even considering Miller and for being “soooo old”…why question something that got them to the 7th game of this years Finals which they had a chance to win? It wasn’t so much old age that got them as much as being tired from so many minutes b/c of injury. (Remember that Kobe also was wiped out so it wasn’t age) If we had Miller instead of my man Scal we would have had a better chance b/c of the minutes he could have given us…woulda coulda shoulda……back to vacation

  • JD Posted: Jun.29 at 1:59 am
picking up a white version of the late Rasheed Wallace aye – funny

  • keerok Posted: Jun.29 at 2:18 am
Big Three… Fantastic Four… Voltes Five?

  • bonamz Posted: Jun.29 at 4:41 am
what celtics need is someone who is strong in both offense and defense and i am only talking to two persons that is BOGUT from bucks and SHAQ from cavs.!!!! rondo will do the rest by giving them the right pass. please get PEJA!!!

  • bonamz Posted: Jun.29 at 4:44 am
peja is a good addition to the team

  • slawson Posted: Jun.29 at 8:30 am
Peja? Isn’t he injury prone? I’ll pass. Looks like Celtics have a lot of holes to fill, with ‘Sheed, Scal, Nate, Sheldon and Daniels all gone for sure. I predict that Harongody makes the team and plays some minutes off the bench (he replaces Scal/Sheldon) Not sure about Bradley, but his speed tells me he will eventually replace Marquis/Nate. So what they need is a PF/C and a wingman who can shoot. I predict they re-sign Ray Allen and they pick up Brad Miller. They might also get Mike Miller. If they do all that, they have a chance to have Perk back in time for the playoffs next year. Outside chance of getting Shaq for a one year deal instead of Miller. I have had visions of commercials with Shaq dressed as a Leprechaun for a few years now.

  • Monkz Avillanu Posted: Jun.29 at 1:21 pm
It will be a prized acquisition for Celtics. Looking forward to another Celtics vs Lakers down the wire finals game. Go Boston!

  • andrew Posted: Jun.29 at 4:28 pm
now that perkins is hurt even if they sign miller they still need a 7 footer to play gasol..that’s what killed them; one big man short..is scal coming back? big baby just isn’t tall enough..

  • [...] couple of these players have been pursued by other teams.  Brad Miller has been contacted by the Boston Celtics and Hakim Warrick has signed with the Phoenix [...]
