Breaking: Corey Maggette Traded To Bucks

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have completed a trade that swaps Corey Maggette for Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric. Marcus Thompson delves in to the possible reasons for the trade: “The Warriors get rid of one of their biggest contracts ([Maggette's at] 3 years, $31 million), which aids in their bid to add a difference maker this offseason. The Warriors now have two expiring contracts worth more than $13 million in Gadzuric and Vladimir Radmanovic.”

I’d like to see some alley-oops with Jennings passing the ball and Maggette throwing it like a beast… Or the opposite.

  • Atrain

Good move by the Bucks. They dump two bad contracts in Bell and Gadzuric who contribute little to nothing for a proven scorer – something they need since Salmons is apparently gone

  • cc413

excellent decision for the bucks especially since john salmons is obviously out of the picture.. maggette should fit nicely next jennings, redd, and bogut.. now if they could only draft a quality 4 they would capable of making a deep playoff run

  • C-Lo-The-Great

seems like a big win for bucks

  • LD

You fool! You are supposed to try and get Chris Paul to get LeBron. Doesn’t Milwaukee watch ESPN?

  • cp3fan

Good to add a scorer to help Bogut and Jennings just in case Michael Redd never returns to his old form.

  • Exiled Zebra

If salmons stays, theyre going to th second round

  • Chris

Great move by the Bucks. Great move for Golden State????

This pretty much solidifies that Salmons is leaving. He is a good player and should help any team that gets him.

Good luck going from Don Nelson to Scott Skiles. Maggette is gonna show why he’s overpaid without the inflated offense of GS.

I guess this means they aren’t going to re-sign Salmons?

  • Exiled Zebra

On the contrary dma, skiles will have corey playing defense like hes capable of, hes already a great rebounder. Great move by mil

looks like john salmons is out?? Anyway great move by the bucks making a good backcourt now.

that IS breaking news. damn. Milwaukee is DEFINITELY drafting a BIG now.

  • LA Huey

This really hurts my 2K10 rotation.

God, Charlie Bell sucks. Sorry to say it but wow. He really sucks…

  • johnny c

i dont know about this move. maggette always looks so good on the stat sheet, but then you watch him in action and he just dont seem to produce the positive results a guy with his stats should be producing. being teamed up with jennings and bogut will make it easier if he plays a team game, hopefully this works out. im not sure this was a great move though.

  • Fat Lever

This can’t be the first time Bad P*rn has left Cali, hopefully never to return, is it?

  • al

    sign iverson!!!

  • al

    horace grant t00!!

This is a better move for Golden State taking in consideration Maggette’s salary. Besides he’s just an overrated scorer, Salmons can actually create for himself.

  • Str8in It Out

why ids Salmons “obviously” out of the picture? Maggette is a small forward. Salmons a SG. As long as u have a playmaker like Jennings they can both be there and get there touches. No one goes to the line like Maggette. This could be a good get if Salmons stays.

    count me in.

  • Exiled Zebra

Pablasso, isnt scoring and creating for himself the same thing?

  • Mookie Blaylock

    Bring back mookie!!!

Whoa, this is awesome for the Bucks! Corey Maggette has been one of the most slept on players in the league for a few years now, and he can finally go to an actual team. He’ll be great for the Bucks and him and Jennings will make a kick @ss duo. I can’t wait to see the alleyoops!

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

if salmons re-signs, they need at least 2 balls every game. Time to trade redd! If only they could.. Good trade for golden state money wise.

  • http://slam.com andrew

corey maggette is a tank for his size and he puts up 15 and 7 a game so instead of keeping 2 players who did little to nothing for the team they brought in a guy who can score. The only downside is that now salmons is probably gonna leave but i think they could co-exist on the same team kinda like stephen curry and monta ellis

  • hembergler

I don’t get to see a lot of Maggette, but I’ve always be underwhelmed with his play. Hopefully he can turn it up when he’s on the Bucks and doesn’t kill any flow they have with his endless free throws.

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

i think he should be a great addition for them. he has a pretty reliable midrange game, gets to the line, and rebounds. all good things in a skiles system. interested to see if skiles can get him to play d

  • The Philosopher

^I wonder if Skiles can get Magette to pass the ball, too.

  • Kap

^ is that the real CDR

  • Fat Lever

If I was the Sixers I would have traded Iguodala and maybe Speights to MIL to get Redd and his expiring deal.

  • The Philosopher

Kap: I think it is. Click on his name.

  • Kap

I take it CDR is happy to be outta NJ

  • The Philosopher

^The worst team in… NBA History. Well, one of them, anyway.

  • smooth operator

whatch out for the bucks next season

  • MikeC.

Good job by Milwaukee, getting a proven scorer. Too bad for GS that they’ve been trying to move Maggette since the ink dried on his contract and they killed his trade value. I was hoping Nellie would keep killing Maggette’s value to the point that NY would be able to trade a 2nd round pick for him.

  • Str8in It Out

Trade Redd? Two balls? The dude hasn’t played a full season in how long? Odds are he’ll come up lame some time during the season. If Salmons is resigned- which he should be- Redd shouldn’t start. $18mil is a lot for a bench spot up shooter tho so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. If the Bucks steal CDR from the Nets they have got to be after Wes Johnson at #3 and a PF via free agency. Nets should be damned good next year. Mil-walk too.

  • Shemy

Why wouldn’t they re-sign Salmons? Salmons off the bench with extended minutes with the starters seems to work well with Jamal Crawford and he gets more minutes then most starters.

I say good for GSW because the way the suited up 7 guys a night last season they need as many bodies as they can get. I was surprised Nellie didn’t suit up number 19 and play.
