Breaking: Kendrick Perkins Sidelined

Bad, bad news for the Celtics just arrived in our inbox, via an NBA press release: “Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins sustained a right knee sprain and will not return to tonight’s game. His condition will be re-evaluated tomorrow. The injury occurred at the 5:30 mark of the first quarter. ” Hope Big Baby, AKA Shrek, is ready to role if Perk isn’t good to go Thursday.

Perkins forced the Lakers to play an injured Bynum, who obviously cannot move on that bum leg. Gasol could not handle Perkins when Bynum was out. Now, Phil Jackson can run a smaller lineup as often as he wants and Doc won’t adjust by going to a smaller lineup. Lakers are most likely going to close this out in LA in 7 unless Rondo steps up, attacks the rim and records the biggest trip-dub of his young career. Ron-Ron a world champion? woah, that would be grand.

JohnnyCum, you said it just perfectly. it sucks for boston, but without perkins they lose so much size, the injury couldnt have happened at a more convenient time for the lakers. they got this closed up now.

and who was it that was around perk when he got injured and actually moved his leg when he was coming back down? kobe? NOT SURPRISING.

  • [...] Perkins injured his right knee midway through the first quarter last night (and did not return), and even though he claimed that he’d try to give it a shot in Game 7, all indications at [...]

Perkin’s dad lives in New Zealand his name is Kenny Perkins and the Celts should just pop him into the game – they’re basically identical bar the 20 year age gap and both play the same.

Yea like super cosign RIGGS. Kobe had that in mind the whole time. He is responsible for KG’s injury as well. And Bynum’s injury. And Doc’s 1994 team losing a 3-2 lead in 1994. And everything else that is wrong with the world.

  • riggs Posted: Jun.16 at 9:58 am
    glad you cosign ya idiot

I’m not about to say the loss of Perk would be just as bad as losing, say, Rondo… but losing Perk for game 7 would be bad. He’s got no offense, but the Cs really need his defense.

he’s out for game 7 according to early reports.

watching the replay, if you think about what Kobe is doing on this play, he clearly puts his leg and foot between Perkins legs, then kicks his foot and leg out to throw him off balance. Plays that are dirty/illegal, that end in injury should be looked at very seriously by the league. It isn’t very good basketball when half the players are injured due to dirty illegal plays.
