Carmelo Anthony Looking for a Contract Extension

‘Melo tells the Denver Post that he wants to re-up with the Nuggets this summer: “Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony said Sunday he will look into a potential three-year extension with the team this summer. ‘Well see what happens,’ said Anthony, whose contract is up after the 2010-11 season. ‘I think my agent (Leon Rose) is going to talk to them in a week or so. And if there’s something on the table, then we’ll go to the table and see what’s the best situation for me.’ Anthony, who attended Game 2 of the NBA Finals at the Staples Center, was asked about the state of the Nuggets. ‘We have pieces,’ he said, adding he would like to add ‘one or two more pieces that’ll work out.”‘

    Gotta respect that.

    And the Knicks hopes are sliced and diced if they don’t get Lebron….

    Thought Melo to the Knicks was almost guaranteed. I guess they got him at a young enough age and have been winning enough to sway him to stay. That’s nice. I bet my buddy a while back that Carmelo would get a title before Lebron. Anyone think I can pull that one off?

  • J-Ro

    @JoeMama ; I’m hoping ur right

    the knicks suck and will continue to suck until they get a whole new front office. even if they get lebron and bosh, and i dont think they will, they wont win with a crappy front office and mike “i dont play D” dantoni. honestly, i could see the knicks signing carlos boozer or joe johnson to a max contract if they dont get lebron

    Good to kno. One less superstar heading to the ‘summit’ lol

    Melo is the franchise player of the Nuggets, of course he would want to extend his contract to stay for the team he’s always been playing for quite awhile.

    Yes! Stay! Go Nuggets

    I’ll tell the truth. As much as I’ve been riding Carmelo Anthony for not being a leader, for antics that disrespect the game, for being soft, etc., he is a blessed talent who as a second option on a championship team would be incredible.

    It will be interesting to see if he values winning enough to re-sign at a reduced salary to free up cap space for another star. Winning championships will bring more edorsement deals and even out the dip in salary.

    or he wants to extend before those new CBA talks hit the fan
