Cavs Eye First Round Pick

The Cavs are looking to bring in new blood. From the Cleveland Plain-Dealer: “The Cavs currently don’t have a pick in next week’s draft but, according to league sources, they have continued discussions to trade for or buy a first-round pick. To prepare, the Cavs have been working out several potential late first-round and second-round picks in Cleveland. They have also attended several group workouts of potential lottery picks. Usually such trades don’t take place until draft day — which is next Thursday — or just before.”

How does buying a pick work? Can any team just buy a pick from another team, or does salary cap matter? Anyone know and can give a short explanation?

Sorry, really cant help you out on that one. Im used to cash considerations but not on straight buying a pick. Is this a possible post-LeBron strategy?

I’m sure they can get 1 or 2 first rounders if they sing and trade LeBron.

Unless Paul George or Devin Ebanks suddenly develop other-wordly athleticism, gain about 40 pounds of muscle, attain the speed, ball-handling abilities and court vision of a point guard as well as the rebounding prowess of a power forward, learn some flashy dance-moves as well as some top-notch pantomiming skills, change the place of birth on their birth certificates to Akron, Ohio and of course, learn the elusive, ever-so-deadly art of the “chase-down-block”, a first round pick is not gonna help Cleveland. Oh, and they need to develop an ego on par with Shaq’s as well as more tattoos than a prison inmate.
