Bob Cousy Lobbies Doc Rivers to Stay

It can’t be an easy decision for the Celtics coach: his family or his franchise: “Rivers is considering leaving the Celtics after this season to spend more time with his children, who have become standout athletes in college and high school. Cousy told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday that he recently mailed Rivers a letter telling him how much he wanted him to stay in Boston. [...] ‘I dropped a note saying, ‘Regardless of who grabs the ring, when it comes time to making a decision I hope that you give us strong consideration and stay with us for a while.’”

Doc can always go back to coaching but he’ll only get once chance to watch his kids mature into adults. If I was him, it would be simple – family (REAL family, not the “we’re more than a team, we’re a family” family) comes first.

What Enigmatic said. Regular folks HAVE to work and miss out on stuff like that. Doc has had a successful run as a player and a coach and he can afford to enjoy his life and family for a while until he gets the itch again.

That was very well said, Enigmatic.

Getting the pieces to turn a team into a championship form in one year doesn’t happen everytime too.
