Diabetes Hospitalizes Ray Allen’s Son

According to Chris Forsberg, Walker Allen’s health is what kept Ray Allen from a media session and almost had caused him to miss practice prior to Game 5. “In the early hours of Saturday morning, as Ray Allen’s young son, Walker, was set to be discharged from the hospital following a brief scare due to complications from his juvenile diabetes, the nurses wanted him to eat a Popsicle and offered a choice of colors: Red, blue, or purple. ‘I told him, You can’t have purple,’ Ray Allen noted with a smile after helping the Celtics defeat the purple-and-gold-clad Lakers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals Sunday. ‘He said, I want green, and I said, Yeah, he’s in the spirit, he’s ready for Sunday.’ The Celtics excused the sleep-deprived Allen from practice Saturday afternoon, but he participated anyhow. With his son’s condition stabilized after the overnight scare, Allen caught up on shuteye before Sunday’s pivotal Game 5 at the TD Garden. … Allen nearly missed Game 6 of the 2008 Finals after Walker was originally diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.”

what a tragic situation ray allen is in………I know that it is hard to be focused on a game when you have “real life” hardships with your child. My prayers is with him and his family.

Regardless about how you may feel about Ray Allen the Boston Celtic, Ray Allen the person and father is a great man and truly a class act. Wishing nothing but the best for his son.

I love Ray Allen, man. That dude is a class act. His post-game interview last night put a lot into perspective. His son is a really cute kid, too. I hope they pull this off in 6 and that the Celtics award Ray with a contract extension. Thank God that he’s in Boston because the Joslin Diabetes Center and the Children’s Hospital here are two of the best hospitals nation-wide.

I know it’s hard but I wish Ray wouldn’t let his personal life affect his game he’s playing poorly offensively

Prayers? Thats so useless, it has never done anything, positive or negative. Thats one of the problems in this country, too many people praying and not doing anything. Obviously, in rays childs situation, doctors help, not average people. Pray for our troops, pray for our health, pray for the homeless, pray to get a job, get lucid!
