Dwyane Wade Won’t Participate in World Championships

Dwyane Wade is facing a hectic schedule, one that won’t include a trip to Turkey for the World Championships this summer, which he revealed to the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Saturday.

Wade previously had cited a busy summer schedule, which includes his impending free agency, as well as child-custody and divorce cases in Chicago. His divorce case, if not resolved in advance, is scheduled for trial during the same timeframe as the World Championships.

“I understand that this is a very challenging summer, but a very important summer for me,” Wade said, as hundreds waited for an autograph session at a Publix supermarket, some arriving more than seven hours before the start of the event. “I’m just taking it one step at a time and that’s all I can do. And the biggest thing is, I’m getting things behind me. I’m getting able to move forward with my life.

“And that’s the most important part for me and my family, is to move forward with my life. So I’ve been able to recharge my battery, whenever I’m with (sons) Zaire and Zion. They’ve been the ones that really have kept me afloat, kept me smiling and kept me looking forward to things.”
