  Control the factors u can control. No-one complains after a win. Ray allen doesn’t go 0 fer and PP backs up his trash talk we don’t hear any of the post game ref bashing. I am willing to guarantee that the refs will make more mistakes but take ur destiny in your own hands and knock down shots

  Its the NBA. The league has gone out of its way to get referees who habitually make worse calls than Jim Joyce. This is nothing new. Its surprising that more players and teams dont know how to play around or pander to the calls. Each ref has a track record and surely each NBA team has advanced stats on ref tendencies. But that isnt basketball. The league wants money, Stern wants money. Hell Stern doesnt want a city to have a team unless they play in an arena that resembles the Mall of America. Drawing out a series makes more money. But seriously, Boston needs to play better on their own floor.

  the officiating has been sad as much as it’s been just awful. both teams have had plenty to complain about, so, like ron artest said, that means it’s fair. but it’s sad because you have a chance to watch a tight series with two pretty evenly-matched teams, and because of foul trouble, each night, at least one of the teams has had a key player that was effectively taken out of the game.

  I thought the C’s should of been T’d up for their reactinos (Rasheed & Big Baby) to some of those calls. They actually ran around half of the court yelling.

  I’m always up for bashing the officiating and exposing league conspiracies. But the reason the Celtics lost is because Ray Allen and Paul Pierce didn’t show up. If Allen had gone 4-13, which is still bad, the Celtics could have won.

  The celtics have to realize if you play that physical and the way the series has been called that you will receive a foul. That’s a lack of understanding on their part.

  I think at this point, both teams have a right to complain about the officiating. its been really bad. Anytime Fisher flails his arms its a foul. Anytime Ron or Kobe get a little physical on D its a foul and they’re taking the best players out of the game. Sad indeed.

  They just don’t want some huge fight to ensue where suspensions will happen and that will affect the series even worse than the officiating. Therefore, they’re being over cautious to protect the product

  Interesting that the Celtics are not complaining about the missed call when Rondo clearly fouled Odom on the free throw rebound and THEY got the ball after the review. Or the missed call when Rondo fouled Dfish, reaching in from behind on one Fish’s late bank shots from the left block.

  A LOT of bad calls last night, both ways. gasol flopped and got the call on garnett. rondo fouled odom and ended up with the ball. the team that can stay coolest about this crap with have the advantage. it’s just depressing to think that this is actually a factor.

  IMO calls have been consistent. Quick whistle’s for both teams. I’m almost always of the opinion that over the course of the game the calls even out, and i think thats been the case so far this series.
  Where has Paul Pierce been?? I feel its a combination of Artest and the quick whistles. Its been 3 games and not one player seems to have adjusted to the way officials are blowing the whistle.

  Nick, i must have missed the parts of the post game where Doc & the boys were doing heavy complaining. Kap, the only thing funny are your comments. Everyone agrees that the calls are bad across the board (that means against both teams) Every fan leans towards the side of their team and I think for the most part everyone on these posts have been pretty cool about it while making a point or two about the refs. On the other hand you keep making statements like players should have been T’d up for running around yelling. Both mentioned players reacted but were they actually yelling? Sheed looked like he was speechless (that’s a first) & Davis’ mouth can’t close. lol. As far as a “screw job” on Kobe..Why is it a “screw job” if a top tier player gets 4 or 5 fouls? Oh yeah, because that’s not supposed to happen. You know Kobe wasn’t going to get his 6th unless he decked someone. Players like Kobe, LBJ, Wade, Nash, Duncan etc (all of whom I like) very rarely if ever foul out so when they get 5 fouls their most loyal fans scream bloody murder. Yes, kobe got fouls he shouldn’t have gotten but so did a lot of players but again he would not have fouled out and he knows it. 2nd tier stars like Amare, Granger, Dirk, Pierce, Howard etc however will foul out. Nothing has changed over the years..Bird, Magic, MJ, Dr. J, Moses those guys didn’t foul out back then either. I’ve said it and so have some of you, the refs didn’t beat The C’s in games 1 & 3 The lakers did along with The C’s not rebounding or playing consistent D.

  Who is down to count how many missed calls for game 4? Cause I’m not. This is ridiculous how bad the reffing for the Finals has been in general, but damn yesterday was definitely better with a different crew. It didn’t take a whole 3 hours just to watch the game. Or a half hour 4th quarter, so I’m actually glad. But touch fouls at this point in the playoffs is stupid. And Paul Pierce falling after somebody blowing on him is ridiculous, so is Fish falling back every time he makes contact with Ray. Man up gentlemen, why get this far on the stage and STILL flop. Man up. Being a fan of and descendent of Los Angeles it really pisses me off how much a pussy Paul Pierce is. He’s all talk, if the Lakers lose…blame Ron. If the C’s lose, blame PP. Fish, Kobe, Pau, and Bynum have all had significant performances. Rondo, Allen, and KG as well. Who’s left???…And on another note, Big Baby needs to stop with that tongue thing, I almost threw up my guts.

  @ BostonBaller…I just think it’s funny that both fans think officiating cost them the games. I especially find that untrue for Game 3 since the last five minutes was called correctly. I think its crazy for any player to scream and run around the court like a maniac. It should be a T but I’m glad they didn’t call that in such a close and & momentum shifting game. That’s just my opinion.

  why don’t the boston players mention why they didn’t called for fouls when in a pick and roll situation they’ll have 3 players involved and the two players picking would sandwich the laker defensive player giving the ball handler free reign to drive away. they did this a couple times. and big baby doing a moving screen, shifting left, moving right, like it was fully legal. paul pierce and rondo also sandwiched farmar on a crucial jump ball and pushed him to the ground to get the ball when it was tipped to farmar, and no foul was called on that. i can’t even count how many times KG would push at the rebounder after they get the rebound. even ray allen who i don’t consider a rough player pushed fisher clear out of the way with his arm with full extension to get a free layup. it’s like the celtics have a whole team of ron artests. seriously, the celtics get away with a lot more non calls than the lakers do simply because they play a rougher brand of defense, which I don’t mind at all, but please don’t come back and complain about getting called for fouls cuz if anything boston deserves more calls, not less!

  27, 24, 34. Those are the amount of minutes played by Allen, then KG, then Pierce. In each of the first three games of the series the C’s have had one of their core starters play diminished minutes because of foul trouble. Look for Rondo to pick up 2 quickies next game, as it looks like it’ll be his turn. You obviously can’t say that fouls alone are the reason the C’s have lost, but when one of your prime-time players is always sitting due to foul trouble, it does change how the game is played. Witness Kobe in game 2. Much less aggressive because he was scared to death of picking up a 6th foul. So you can’t claim that the foul trouble doesn’t contribute to the final result of the game. And unfortunately for the C’s, they have had one of their big guys in trouble every game. And unlike the Lakers, who when Odom gets in foul trouble have to rely on their starting 7 foot behemoth center to play his minutes, the drop-off from Ray or Pierce to Tony Allen is much more drastic.

(thank you, ray. you’re my favorite player, but … yeah.) i think you could say that this was the best officiated game so far, but that’s like saying that lamar’s sister-in-law, kim, is the best looking kardashian. i’m usually pro-replay (waste a little time, just GET THE SH*T RIGHT!!!!!), but last night we entered some uncharted waters. that is weird how a replay should overturn a call, yet you have to ignore the clear foul ??? while you’re reviewing the replay??? that’s f*cked up. please don’t let some BS refereeing decide game 7. that would be very bad.

  I hope the NBA doesn’t fine Doc or KG. Seriously, it’s starting to become a dictatorship around here. If David Stern keeps this up, he’s going to end up fining the freaking reporters for asking… “What did you think of the crap officiating?” for the umpteenth time during a media session. Hunter really needs to sit Stern down and discuss this with him. Yeah, refs might be human but so are players/coaches, they have emotions and opinions. Let them vent a bit.

  haha, I like how Lakers fans complained HEAVILY about the screwjob in game two… are the same people who are saying you gotta be aggressive and that dictates the calls.
  Bottom line, game was called pretty evenly yesterday, not sure what the Celts are complaining about. Garnett was moving on those screens, and even though Gasol flopped hard at the end of the game, Garnett DID PUSH HIM. Yeah, Gasol flopped, but it was a foul either way, so I’m not entirely angry at the flop.

  Insane questionable calls. Esp at the end. Moving screen on kg was not tthe call, they called te foul on ray, cuz fish was flailing his arms around and yelling, a clear signal to his buddies to bail him out, which they did.

JVG with the call of the night: ” If ur down in a game, There should b a no face policy to the crowd”. I hope the refs let the starters for both teams play in game 4. It would b nice to c a good ol fashioned slug out tommorow. I expect Doc to draw up some stuff to get pdub shooting/flopping early. I hope the rest of the Lakers got Fishers memo about dribble penetration. Should b a good one.

  IMO, Boston should have been called for a lot more than what they got. They play hard defense. I appreciate it. But when you are that physical and that aggressive you are bound to foul them more often than you would like.

  For those of you who say the Boston fans only complain about the officiating when they lose, did any of you clowns check out how lopsided the calls were in game 2? The only reason that wasnt a 30 point blowout by Boston was the 40+ shots LA got from the line. If it wasnt for the deliberate fouls by LA at the end of the game, the free throw disparity would have been 41-16 in LA’s favor. The calls arent going both ways and that’s the complaint. Furthermore, anyone who would defend what this league/refs are doing out there is either financially connected to the league or just plain stupid. You can easily point out many mistakes both teams have made during the games but why not let those determine the end result.

  INTERESTING enough their were many more fouls called on the Celtics in key points of the game they were not shooting fouls but turned possession of the ball over to the Lakers. That was the big gripe and rightfully so. You would know this if you knew rules of the NBA. Do your homework.

  The calls have been bad for both teams and Im a neutral so dont care either way.
  The one thing that really annoys me is that every single game Fisher will get 1 or 2 fouls called on the guy setting the pick by flailing whilst fighting through and at least one charge where he slides over. EVERY SINGLE GAME HE PLAYS!

  @ Kap – Maybe the last 5 minutes were called correctly, but what about the first 43? Or for that matter, the first 139 minutes of the Finals. Like most fans, we just want to see our teams play into their grooves and be treated foul wise consistently. When that happens we can’t cry about anything except for how crappy “our team / player” was in this game if they lose.

  When I was younger, I was taught that arm contact during a rebound (unless it’s arm locking) doesn’t constitute a foul…of course, I might have been led on.

  Ok, so game 2 was the most lopsided officiated game by far but ur only complaining about it now… because ur team lost game 3? A few Laker fans complained about some of the calls like the horrible one that gave Kobe his 5th on Rondo, or the out of bounds play that was critical and went to Boston even though it was off KG. Yeah some of the same guys 8itching about the refs now, were tellin Laker fans to stop making excuses. And btw, the reason LA got soo many more free throws in game 2 was because they actually had an inside game going with bynum (who had his best game of the playoffs) and Gasol who out played KG for the second game in a row. Meanwhile The C’s were surviving on Jump shots mainly from #20. What, do u just expect the calls to be even? There’s been plenty of bad calls both ways. Your team lost because Ray went from playing like Reggie Miller to playing like Anthony Miller. Perk is getting owned & Paul got into foul trouble and missed some open shots in the first half that he normally hits. Without T Allen & Babys play it would not even have been close.

  To me I think these refs are JACKED up. So many fouls have been called against the CELTICS , its hard for them to play right. KG got called last night for 3 second violation, He had just made it down the court. These refs get paid a lot and they make a whole lot of mistakes . Look at all the Celtics fouls compared to the lakers. Then R Wallace got a Tech for running in the opposite direction from the Ref. N Robinson got a Tech for getting in L Odom ugly a%% face when he clearly pushed him.
