Greg Oden Hopes To Return to Court in July

The Blazers are hoping that Oden will be back to 100 percent by training camp: “Oden is scheduled to start running in early to mid-July, and should start playing 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 by mid-August. The goal is to have him ready to participate in 5-on-5 action the first week of September, when many of the Blazers players return to Portland for informal scrimmages. The plan, McMillan says, is for Oden to be 100 percent by the opening of October training camp. On Wednesday, McMillan said he remains encouraged that the October goal is attainable. ‘A big part of it is going to be mental … him trusting (the knee),’ McMillan said. ‘But he’s been through this before and I thought last year he came into camp and his mind was right.’”

I really hope this kid has a long career.

I want to see him get healthy long enough to learn a move on offense. Hopefully he’ll be able to bounce back from this and put together a long career. I mostly just want to see what he looks like when he’s actually old since he looks like Bill Russel right now.

He is becoming the poster child for the big man bust that has cursed the league this decade. Too bad too, but Blazers have Camby now. Maybe Blake Griffin or Thabeet will take over the lead bust role soon. Or even Bynum.

I think thabeet will forever be labeled bust as long as he’s stuck behind gasol. Welcome back GO

Idk, I remember going to school and seeing him right after his pictures got leaked. I couldn’t help but laugh. Dude is a manchild on the court, but Portland should have picked up somebody who had a proven track record. When my homies come around, I mention Al Horford and they get kinda pissed. Lol, get healthy GO. *But 2 injury prone bigs for PDX? Very questionable.

Isn’t next season a contract year for him? Hmm…should be interesting. It could play out in a whole mess of different scenarios. He could go down with an injury again, and the Blazers might choose to let him walk, only to see him dominate with another team. He could dominate this next year, then get a huge contract, only to be injured again throughout said contract. He could end up being grossly underpaid or grossly overpaid. Like Run-DMC said – it’s tricky.

    Whos greg oden?

  • nastierthanu

“Return to court”. Traffic or child support?

  • vanillagorrila

Yeah its really hard as a blazer fan to see oden perpetually injured especially when hes healthy and showing his worth droping 20+points and 20 board games with 4-5 blocks in 26 minutes. The kid is a straight beast on the court.
