Johnson, Nets Add Mitchell To Staff

Former Nets beat writer, Chris Broussard, broke the news about Sam Mitchell. Think it will help the Nets land Chris Bosh? : “Sam Mitchell, the NBA’s coach of the year in 2007, will join the New Jersey Nets as coach Avery Johnson’s top assistant, according to league sources. Mitchell, who coached the Toronto Raptors from 2004-08, is returning to the league for the first time since his firing 17 games into the 2008-09 season. His hiring puts two of the last five Coaches of the Year on the Nets’ bench, as Johnson won the award while coaching in Dallas in 2006…John Loyer, longtime Nets assistant Tom Barrise and former player Popeye Jones will also be on Johnson’s staff. Johnson will hire one more yet-to-be-determined assistant as well.”

The Nets just got a little crazier….I mean better.

in all seriousness if sam mitchel could light a fire under the raptors, he can get devin harris back to the way he was when he was stepback J’in in everyone’s face. great group of coaches here.
    Harris
    Lee
    twill
    favors
Brook all they need is a superstar or stingy defense and they are a contender again

I was just thinking about the coaching combination of Sam Mitchell and Avery Johnson. Those two guys have passion to spare, they’re intense, and they will keep that team hungry and motivated. There is no way that the Nets won’t be a better team.
Prediction Time: My guy Josh Boone will have a career year under Johnson and Mitchell if he isn’t traded.

Its about time!!! Raptors were dumb to ever let him go

I like Josh Boone (longest tenured Net) but he either will be traded or only get about 4 minutes per game as back-up to Brook Lopez. Anyway, time to find a new president / GM. Thorn leaving is a pretty big deal.

    Kevin Pritchard, maybe?

Sorry guys. Josh Boone is crap. He doesn’t play defense, can’t handle passes., misses dunks and free throws. I cannot stand the guy. Hopefully he gets trades.

Boone just needs a fire lit under him. Trust that one. I’m not saying he’s an all star, or anything. But from what I know personally about him, all he needs is hunger, motivation, and fire. He has the the talent to stick in The League.
I’ll also say this: When one plays for Jim Calhoun, one can develop a certain amount of different feelings about different things.
It’s a trip when Calhoun is molding you. One would be suprised.
