LeBron To Meet with Six Teams, Nets First

by Ryne Nelson

LeBron James is planning on meeting with six teams over the first three days of free agency as he attempts to achieve his championship aspirations.

Although the Bulls seem to be early favorites, the competition to win his services will be steep. James’ idol and mentor Jay-Z and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov will make the first presentation to LeBron on July 1 in Ohio.

LeBron James is planning to invite six teams to meet him over the first three days of free agency, and rap mogul Jay-Z and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov will be part of a New Jersey Nets contingent that will make the first presentation on July 1 in the Akron, Ohio, area, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

James and his advisors plan to have the Nets, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers make presentations. Yahoo! Sports first reported on Thursday night that James would be taking appointments with teams on July 1 to begin his free-agency process.

LeBron wants to keep the focus on basketball and believes hosting teams in Ohio can prevent the recruitment process from turning into a spectacle. The Knicks planned to host James for a large dinner party catered by a celebrity chef in Manhattan.

James’ decision throws a wrench in his suitor’s plans to lure him to play for their city.

No one knows who the next great team will be, no one can say Lebron is making a mistake coming to NYC, no one can forsee the future, like everything in sports, you fans are terrible at predicting and fantastic at second guessing. Its been awhile since I’ve listened to any so called expert or fanboy, none of you are ever right. I think the only place Lebron ever wanted to go was NYC, it might have nothing to do with basketball. Yes the private meetings are better than the shmoooze job, I hope more ny hate will arrive from all you out of towners when the lbj joins the knicks. Just like Rex and the Jets. Yall non-nyers alwasy hate to see US have something.

And yes Durant is the better basketball player. REAL NBA people KNOW this. Lebron is a freak, a god like, freak of nature, But Durant is the REAL DEAL. Very much in the discussion. its not crazy talk. Im a Knicks fan that wants LBJ and Im telling you, Durant has the tools to the be the best in the NBA right now, and he’s 22!

Why does everybody break it down to rings? Fisher has 5 rings. Does that make him better than Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, John Stockton, Chris Paul, Tim Hardaway… should I continue here?

Kobe’s one of the greatest but people really need to get over the rings debate. Kobe has Gasol, Lebron had an aging Shaq, no show Mo Williams and Parker in the playoffs, Jamison who left his 20+ points per game back in Washington.

Back to the Lebron, he’s got Donald Trump style power here with teams coming to visit him.

@JACO, im also a heat fan and i fully agree, unless toronto can resign bosh, in which case that can be considered a win, in that he’s expected to leave.

doesn’t matter where he goes, he aint gunna win a championship

C’mon hows daurant better than bron riddle me that. Yall must not have watched
the lakers series. Durant struggled all series long to even dribble the ball against ron artest,
his so-called jumpshot was no where to be found. Do you think that a 22yr old lebron
would have struggled that bad against the lakers. i think not. Lebron was a better passer, finisher
defender, ball-handler and winner than durant is right now at 22. Plus didnt lebron lead a lesser
talented team than durant’s to the finals. You guys really must have amnesia because lebron in
his 3rd yr put up 31/7/7 with ease. Until durant shows that his nothing more than a scorer, he
will never be on lebron level. Comprende

Lebron is all hype, no substance.

    Win something to change that.

@the philosospher:but hes not dominating the NBA is he? I’m pretty sure he hasnt played since the second round?

  • james

lebron is such an arrogant ass.

  • The Philosopher

    @Overtime: He’s dominating… THE WORLD.

  • The Great White Hope

Lebron is just a freak athlete. He is a good basketball player but I don’t think his skill set is more fluid than guys like durant, kobe, and dirk. Put it this way if amare stoudamire never got hurt and developed a jump shot him and lebron james would have almost the same type of game.

All you lebron blowhards forget his turnovers too. He throws the dumbest passes and the worst times, and you guys are trying to compare him to kobe bryant?

Kobe, with or without shaq still has 5 titles. And will prob finish with six when its all said and done. Wade will prob win more titles than lebron when its all said and done

    @ Philospher…but then again, more accurately…he’s not.

To The Great Masses Of SLAM:
In case some of us haven’t realized this reality of things, I’ll just merely attempt to educate. Who in the history of The NBA has EVER amassed a League wide courting from top NBA executives, owners, presidents, vice presidents, etc… to come to one player’s back yard at the same time to make The King believe that he should come play for their team?
This Young king has the world’s most POWERFUL politicians courting, ooing, ahhing, what have you.

Never in the History of… SPORTS has this thing ever gotten to this magnitude. It is what it is This,
my fellow brethren, is an undertaking that is… ALMOST bigger than basketball. In many ways, IT IS bigger than basketball.
At the end of the day, there is no denying that LeBron is in fact, The Top Dog (King). And IF he happens to win a ring, and in reality all he needs is one ring… It would be the end of a many a conversation.

  • The Philosopher

Now, one more thing for my internet friends… I’ve said this before, I will again say it with passion AND good intentions:
Michael Jordan, AND especially Kobe Bryant have never in their respective careers have generated such a product that is in such high demand. This is the truth.
Also the truth, after this phase of The King’s Legacy is written and passed… He may never live up to that hype from a basketball standpoint to some, but in reality, it won’t even matter. Period.

  • Dead Astaire

Man, take it easy on LBJ, remember, it took the actual king (MJ) about 7 years to finally get his first ring, Lebron will get one and possibly more, he won’t be going out like Barkley or Karl Malone (ringless). I think he could do it in Cleveland, if they can land Bosh or Stoudemire, but I dont see that happening, another thing is if Lebron wants to get back to the finals, he needs to ressurect that killer instinct he had a few years ago, he made it to the finals with less then, than he has had the past three seasons. Yeah, hometown hero and all that, but maybe Lebron doesn’t want to be sheltered like that anymore and he wants to spread his wings, and if his fans are truly his fans, they should cheer him on no matter where he goes. Noah was right “Whats so good about Cleveland?”, other than Lebron, not much and I that is why i sense such a great desperation from that spot on the map, they need to stop putting so much pressure on him out there. In order to be a king, you have to be a man first, so let him do that so he can truly be crowned.
