Miami Heat Hire Tim Hardaway

The Heat clearly believe Hardaway’s public image has healed enough, by inviting him back into the organizational fold. Reports the Miami Herald: “Tim Hardaway and Alonzo Mourning are officially a tandem again for the Miami Heat. Only now, they’re making moves in the community and front office instead of on the court, where they led the Heat to division titles and perennial playoff appearances two decades ago. The Heat confirmed Hardaway’s hiring Tuesday saying he would be the team’s Community and Corporate Liaison. Hardaway rejoins Mourning, who last year was brought in to work as vice president, player development. Although the team never announced Hardaway’s hiring, he has made appearances at community events since April and was introduced as a `Heat legend.’ Reached on his cellphone Tuesday, Hardaway politely declined to comment about his role and referred questions to Heat executives. Hardaway, 43, is expected to make another appearance when a Heat delegation travels Saturday to Haiti with Project Medishare to help fund a hospital destroyed during the Jan. 12 earthquake.”

It’s gonna be tough for people to put those comments behind him. They will always follow him around.

Great move! How’s that for loyalty DWade? Hopefully he can teach Chalmers the Texas Two-step.

  • Hussman25

This move helps the Heat organization keep D-Wade around… Wade has discussed loyalty this off-season and Tim (comments or not) helped guide that franchise to places they would have never been and to add him w/ ZO will definately aid Riley to sign not only him but someone else… Great recruiting ploy Miami…

Much respect to Pat and Mickey for giving this man a chance after that quagmire.

  • C-Lo_The_Great

haha its funny how NOW,after dwade was completely wrong on bulls loyalty and the chicago media ripped him and heat organization for not being loyal, they hire some former players

Uhm….C-Lo, just for clarification, Alonzo works for them in an off-the court role since he retired, Keith Askins has been an assistant coach with them for years, and they also have kept two former coaches/assistants on as coaches/broadcasters. Just saying.

Qualifications: Must have 8 – 10 years of being an ignorant *sshole. Congrats on your new gig, you closeminded f*ck.

  • Wat Misaka

@vtrobot That’s it show him how to take the moralistic high road!

  • Cannibal Hannibal

    “two decades ago”… already?

  • Klemperer

He shouldn’t have said “I hate gay people,” but other than that he was just standing up for what he believes and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. (That is… you can hate the practice without hating the people. Nothing good has ever come out of the practice of homosexuality, and no matter how people try to justify it, that cannot be denied.) Welcome back, Timmy!

  • vtrobot

hey geniuses, using “bad” language isn’t as bad or as “immoral” as hating a certain group of people. i also agree that everyone has the right to be as much of a hateful bigot as they wish.

  • Chuck

Now the Heat just needs to sign Rony Seikaly to the front office

Glad to see him working again… I think he was one of the most entertaining players of the 90s… Yes, he did say some bone-headed things that he should have probably kept to himself, But I hope he will be remembered more for his cross-over then those remarks..

How can someone be a “Community and Corporate Liason” and decline comment to the press? The whole job is about PR and publicity.
