Pacers Interested in Ty Lawson?

According to both ESPN and the Indy Star, Ty Lawson could be a man on the move this summer: “Here’s an interesting item Chad Ford wrote in his blog Monday. ‘A number of NBA sources are telling me that the Denver Nuggets are in the hunt for a Top 10 pick. Nuggets GM Mark Warkentein has been calling around trying to gauge interest in teams selling the pick. According to sources Warkentein is offering Ty Lawson for the pick.’ The Pacers are interested in Lawson, according to a source. The Pacers are willing to give up their pick – No. 10 – in next week’s draft to get a player that will help them immediately. The Pacers wouldn’t be searching for a point guard if they had taken Lawson instead of Tyler Hansbrough last year. Lawson, who was the Pacers’ second option, averaged 8.3 points and 3.1 assists last season.”

Yes, trade the heir to Billups for someone who wont be as good. Thats great thinking, Denver front office. Why didnt Indy just draft him last year?

Lawson would be dope in Indy, but then again he’d be dope on any team. Might even help Hansbrough step his game up if he’s reunited with his lil’ homie. Not sure how the Nuggets benefit from this though. Almost everyone in the lottery not named Wall or Turner will be a project in one form or another.

Denver is dumb if they do this.chauncey will be out in a couple years

BTW, Pacers are also trying to see if they can get Darren Collison from the Hornets. If they can land either one of these guys, they’ll be set at point guard and whoever they get won’t have to worry about playing behind a superstar PG anymore.

Good move for Indy. Giving up on Price so soon? and doesn’t philly have a few decent young points? know they gotta get rid of one and based on salary I think it’d be Holiday. Could def do worse.

cuz they gotta even up the cultural diversity scores. on a second thought, since the nba is majority black players, doesn’t that mean it’s not very diverse?? or do they take it in the context of the whole society.

this seems dumb for Denver. Are the top ten players in the draft really that good?

    Pretty dumb move on Denver…

  • rush

ima a huge nugs fan and id be hella mad if they made this move. it dosent make any sense trading one the top young pgs in the L and a key player off your bench.

  • Mig l

i agree with rush this would be a pretty stupid move on denvers part. they do really really need a back up big guy fuck johan petro and fuck the birdman we need someone like bosh or a young guy to back up nene and k mart but losing ty lawson would be really weak dont do it denver come one.. billups is gonna teach this kid to be good and he already had a great first year..

Again, Nene came up lame in the playoffs. Kenyon was playing injured. They got to the playoffs with Birdman as their main guy in the post and Denver fizzled away. With Carmelo coming up for free agency next year and Chauncey’s window closing in a few years… ya damn right Denver has to do something to try and get a big, no matter how much of a project he may be and there are quite a few to be had in this draft. Smart move. Hope this happens. Ty was being wasted behind Chauncey and their three guard lineup (CB, JR and Ty) wasn’t one of their strongest. You gotta give up something to something in return. I don’t think it will be enough to get them deeper into the playoffs next year but who else can they afford to let go? Ty (backup PG) for a top ten pick? Not a bad get.

  • Vikturus

    Don’t do it Denver.

  • Lazarus

dont do it indiana! this draft is so deep. ty wouldnt be top 10 this year.
