Raptors Looking to Sign-and-Trade Chris Bosh

Chris Bosh’s time in Toronto appears to be up, and the Raptors are reportedly doing everything they can to get something back in return for their franchise player. From Yahoo!: “The Toronto Raptors have begun to assess which players they would try to obtain in potential sign-and-trade transactions involving free-agent forward Chris Bosh. Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo told a Toronto radio station he thinks Bosh ‘likely’ will leave the team. Should Bosh decide to sign elsewhere, Colangelo also said the Raptors will try to engage in a sign-and-trade deal to bring the franchise some measure of compensation. Sources said the Raptors will try to acquire draft picks and young players in return for Bosh. They would likely ask for forward Michael Beasley and point guard Mario Chalmers in any deal with the Miami Heat. If Bosh were to go to the Chicago Bulls, the Raptors like forward Taj Gibson and center Joakim Noah, though Noah could prove impossible to pry from Chicago. If Bosh settles on the New York Knicks, the Raptors would try to engage in a double sign-and-trade that sends Knicks forward David Lee to Toronto. Sources called a potential sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Lakers ‘doubtful.’”

Losing Bosh sucks, but the trades with Miami and New York aren’t too bad. Better than getting Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and Alonzo Mourning…

  • Eboy Posted: Jun.30 at 11:08 am
Well, according to the masses here, if they make the deal with the Bulls and Noah comes to Toronto, the Raptors should be well on thier way to a title themselves! Have no fear, Toronto!!!

  • Eboy Posted: Jun.30 at 11:10 am
You know, ’cause Joakim Noah is on some other level sh*t with his talent.

  • T-Money Posted: Jun.30 at 11:10 am
LeBatard is reporting that Bosh to MIA in a S+T for Beas, Chalmers and Anthony is done. If Bron signs, they’ll have to fill out the rest of the roster with min guys. Wow. I don’t know what to make of that.

  • niQ Posted: Jun.30 at 11:12 am
Noah is going to be hard to acquire since Chicago’s selling point to the free agents is Rose and Noah. Instead of Taj and Noah, it’d probably sound more like Taj and Deng. In that case, I’d rather have David Lee.

  • T-Money Posted: Jun.30 at 11:14 am
With that said, if the Bulls don’t want to give up Noah and Taj for Bosh, then they’re just stupid. Exactly how Cleveland didn’t want to give JJ Hickson in any Amar’e deal last year. Teams have a tendency to overrate their own talent.

    Mike Miller to Miami?

  • Keep Posted: Jun.30 at 11:17 am
I really hope we don’t get Noah from the Bulls. I hate that dude. I wouldn’t mind wrapping up David Lee and maybe see if we can’t grab something else when (if) we throw Turk in on the deal.

  • Keep Posted: Jun.30 at 11:19 am
Oh and I don’t mind the Miami deal either.
like niQ said, it’s better than the Williams sisters and Zo.

I doubt Bosh would even want a sign and trade. I always got the impression he never liked the way the Raptors built the team. Plus the larger max contract he would get would make him unattractive to teams trying to get Lebron. If anyone thinks Lebron is going to a team where Chris Bosh is making more than him, they are mistaken.

  • BETCATS Posted: Jun.30 at 11:51 am
According to LeBatard (or whatever his name is), Bosh to Miami in a sign and trade is a done deal. I guess that means they wont be getting Lebron.

  • Boing Dynasty Posted: Jun.30 at 11:52 am
3/5 of the starting line-up for the East on one team is fu$king disgusting. Im moving to Miami.

  • niQ Posted: Jun.30 at 11:52 am
BETCATS, for the record, Bosh was the one BC went to in regards to “building the team.” A few years back, BC asked Bosh who he wanted him to go for, Bosh said TJ Ford. Next thing you know he’s in Toronto. Jarret Jack was brought in cause he was friends in college or something. And (I think) Hedo was Bosh’s idea too (would probably need some reference but too lazy atm)

  • The Nupe Posted: Jun.30 at 12:01 pm
Nothing is a done deal until the ink dries. But if Bosh does sign with the Heat for the max, they will likely concentrate on getting a few additional really good players and not pursue LeBron (unless LBJ is willing to take less than Wade/Bosh). As fun as it would be to see these three together, I don’t think they win it all without a good/decent supporting cast. They would be better off adding three other good players than signing Bron and a few scrubs.

    i am now ccantrell

  • ccantrell Posted: Jun.30 at 12:06 pm
eboy you still running your mouth about noah? man u like to talk alot of crap.. noah is not going anywhere just so you know he will remain a bull for a very long time.. and yes noah is on a level at which most centers in the nba are not so stop running your mouth

  • kh Posted: Jun.30 at 12:11 pm
Regardless, this does not bode well for us Raptor fans.

  • Exile Posted: Jun.30 at 12:18 pm
Nope. No good at all. Sucks. But Bosh did well when he was with Toronto and I wish him the best if/when he leaves.

  • edmalhas Posted: Jun.30 at 12:53 pm
Bosh for Mbenga, Morrison and Chris Mihm!!!

  • rainman10 Posted: Jun.30 at 1:02 pm
Bosh for Odom, Ebanks, Brown, and a pick.

  • Jose Posted: Jun.30 at 1:21 pm
Beasley unfortunatley has to go. I mean the dude can play but Spo hasn’t given him the minutes at times and if Wade brings in another dude like Bosh(likely)/Lebron(LBJ unlikely)/Stat/Boozer B-eazy goes down to a 3rd option. we need to let him go and get sumthin good back. we need a damn PG.or hell trade him for bosh if it comes down to sign and trade like the article suggests.

  • Klav Posted: Jun.30 at 1:55 pm
Shoutout to Eboy cause he’s prob enjoying this. Well, if this goes down this is one nice steal to say the least. Toronto still gets something back, but ultimately Wade gets something better, plus there is enough money to go around. As much as Wade-Bron-Bosh sounds good on paper, the distribution of the ball between Wade and Bron wouldn’t make sense. Since Miami would have enough money, I think it would be better to add a shooter like Johnson or Gay. In fact, I’d say pick up Rudy Gay (who is still young, athletic and can shoot the 3) and use the rest of the money on above average pg/c and a good backup unit. Just my 2 cents.

  • slamfan4life Posted: Jun.30 at 2:21 pm
Wow this shit is crazy!!! But I’d rather get Taj and Deng, along with Chi and B-Cats draft pick

  • T-Money Posted: Jun.30 at 2:26 pm
You guys are insane if you don’t think that Riles is going to pursue LeBron.

  • Enigmatic Posted: Jun.30 at 2:50 pm
Regardless of how anyone feels about Noah, he couldn’t be included in a sign and trade for Bosh for the simple fact that, unless the Bulls kept Miller or somehow managed to sign a serviceable center for the minimum, more than likely they’d have to stick Bosh’s ass in the post to play the 5. And you know Bosh ain’t having that. So without Noah, Bosh most likely will not want to go to the Bulls.

  • Sparty's Law Posted: Jun.30 at 3:10 pm
    Please not Beasley

  • John Posted: Jun.30 at 3:25 pm
send him to the knicks and give us danilo, we’ll have 2 italian stallions on the team.

  • Migs Posted: Jun.30 at 3:35 pm
What’s up with people not liking the Miami trade? Colangelo has no leverage in this market, with so many teams far under the cap. Beasley’s a talented kid, and he’s still young – maybe a chance in scenery will straighten his ass out… Plus, the addition of Chalmers definitely helps our D at the 1 (Jose can’t guard anybody), and could pave the way for a Jose or Jack trade.

  • Bdub Posted: Jun.30 at 3:42 pm
Jack/Bosh for Beazley/Chalmers, draft picks and cash? Jack as starting/back up PG.

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Jun.30 at 3:53 pm
Miami has to keep joel anthony somehow. Bosh and rudy gay to mia would be perfect. Heat would go to top of east, and wouldnt ya know, all of a sudden wade is back in best in league convo, funny how that works

  • rainman10 Posted: Jun.30 at 3:53 pm
Bosh and pick to Portland for Aldridge, Fernandez and pick.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.30 at 4:43 pm
To the Knicks for Wilson Chandler and David Lee would be a GREAT move for the Raptors…

  • Pardeep Posted: Jun.30 at 4:52 pm
Allen Iverson anyone? Imagine AI on the Raptors, he is still better then all of them especially the back-court. He would sell jerseys, tix and give them a buzz.

  • The D Train Posted: Jun.30 at 4:53 pm
Bosh to Miami is a done deal, eh? Well, as a Portlander, I am familiar with unsigned, done deals. Turkoglu was a done deal in Portland until the last minute. Probably worked out in Portland’s favor, but with any of these dudes, I’ll believe it when I see the press conference.

  • ccantrell Posted: Jun.30 at 5:28 pm
im pretty sure (bout 95%) that bosh will not end up in miami.. he will almost certainly follow lebron

  • Enigmatic Posted: Jun.30 at 6:01 pm
Didn’t Bosh tell some newspaper that he’s not sold on the whole him teaming up with LeBron and Wade in MIA scenario because he didn’t know how that would work out? Then again, I have no idea what to believe these days. He might not have even talked to that paper at all.

  • ccantrell Posted: Jun.30 at 6:24 pm
@Enigmatic.. reporters are just trying to make money right now bro.. hard to listen to too much of this crap cause we dont know what to believe.. i do know that bosh does not want to be a 2nd option but would settle with that position only if he played wit either leborn or wade.. but he is absolutely not going to a 3rd option no matter who is on his team.. hes not gna let that go down.. i really do see him and bron both headin to chi-town

  • Ross Posted: Jun.30 at 6:40 pm
I like the Bosh/Jack to Miami for Beasley/ Chalmers. They will also need to shore up that center position, as Bosh defibitely won’t want to have play. Beasley is a talent, that needs the ‘Green Light’, Spoelstra should have found a way to get him more touches as a second option. Here’s a thought, look at how K-State used him, here’s to hoping his next coach does better at utilizing such a talent. In Phoenix he’d be amazing.

  • J Posted: Jun.30 at 6:58 pm
if i were to S&T bosh ill make sure to get Beasley in a deal.. or at least package Hedo with Bosh.

  • Klav Posted: Jun.30 at 7:12 pm
Tarzan Cooper agrees with me, BRING BOSH AND GAY TO MIA. Could you imagine Gay, Bosh, AND Wade running the floor? If you stop Wade, you still have to stop the other 2? That’s almost like automatic bucket right there. But they would def need a pg to run the show. If Aaron Brooks somehow made his way to MIA it would be nuts in South Beach.

  • Alex z Posted: Jul.1 at 12:12 am
Noah is not only ugly as hell is also a prick. If the raptors get Micheal Bradly oooohhh man it’s gonna be sick wicked nasty in TO!!!!!

  • Alex z Posted: Jul.1 at 12:14 am

  • Hursty Posted: Jul.1 at 1:42 am
Teddy – lol.. you’re outta your mind.

  • Ali Duyar Posted: Jul.1 at 4:33 am
Bosh+Turk for Odom+Vujacic+Farmar is the best choice for LA and Raps.
