Source: Cavs Finalizing Deal with Brian Shaw

Take the FanHouse report with a grain of salt, but it seems like Brian Shaw has emerged as the favorite to be on the Cavs sidelines next season: “With or without LeBron James, Brian Shaw is looking like the next Cleveland Cavaliers coach. A source told FanHouse the Lakers assistant is close to finalizing a deal to join the Cavaliers just one day before James’ much-anticipated free agency begins. Shaw was a finalist with former New Orleans and New Jersey coach Byron Scott after Michigan State coach Tom Izzo declined the team’s offer earlier this month.”

I guess Shaw would coach Cavs without LeBron also.

In a strange version of “if you can’t beat em, join em”, the Cavs hired Brian Shaw from the Lakers to teach the Cavs how to win in the playoffs.

I wonder if Shaw would run the triangle in Cleveland?

Bron has stated he is interested in the triangle, but I’m not sure that means they would run it. The triangle reportedly takes a year or two for a team to learn but I assume if shaw decided to run the triangle then this would mean keeping Shaq in Cle to help that transition.

they would not be good in the triangle. only lebron and shaq are good passers on that team.

this is one last attempt to keep bron in cleveland.. everyone knows he is interested in running the triangle so obviously the cavs go and get someone who can teach them.. but a team without phil jackson and a superstar trying to run the triangle might not work out very well.. its not working out for the timberwolves anyway

This is the best Cleveland can do? Brian Shaw?
I mean, no offense to the guy, but they couldn’t have found someone more .. qualified?

They, the cavs have enough on that team to run the triangle, jamison, fits,so does, mo wms, vara,jj,must have a back to the basket finisher, doesnt have to be a center.lebron would really be a fit,I am not sure about D.west in that system.they will need another wing player to go with lbj.Z,would be perfect but his age and wear on those feet, maybe shaq helps for another year, its possible to have it up and running w/ a few additions.

Brian Shaw just wants a job, he would have accepted the job to be head coach of clippers. To bad for Shaw, should have waited it out with Phil for one more year. Why coach a 40 win team and barely make playoffs, when in one more year you can take a dynasty. BOOK IT!!!!
