  Now that the coach is in place, let’s see what they can do to improve the team. Contrary to what some people might think, they are pretty good already. Hinrich should be kept but has to be a super sixth man again. To me, Salmons was perfect at the SG position. Dwyane Wade won’t be coming to the Chi, no matter what cover my favorite magazine puts up, and wouldn’t be a good fit with Derrick Rose either. I think the Bulls should go for Joe Johnson, and a big big guy who can shoot a little next to Joakim Noah. And of course upgrade that bench.

  If this becomes official, I think this is a wonderful hire. Ignorant fans will say he’s just another Vinny because he has no head coaching experience, but this dude is leaps and bounds above VDN. Even though he’s known as a defensive mastermind, from what I’ve read it seems GarPax came away very impressed with his knowledge of the offensive side of things too. I’m excited.

  We need a coach that can help create offense- the Bulls have been ranked in the upper 20′s in offensive proficiency the last few years.

  umm sorry gerard saying john salmons was perfect at sg for the bulls is like saying im better than kobe at every aspect of the game
  salmons was a complete waste in a bulls uni IN 09-10 season he couldnt make a feild goal if the basket was as big as lake michigan and its ironic that he just so happend to find his J after he got traded to the bucks

  C-Lo, I bet you liked Salmons when he was playing the Celtics in the Playoffs in ’09. I agree that he didn’t play well this season for the Bulls though. But with the help of another star, I still believe that Salmons could be used as a third option in their offense. Maybe get some open looks too.

  This is a perfect fit for fit. Co- sign Gerard. they have a good team already, ad a skilled big & the offense will take care of itself. bringing in Tib’ could change the identity of this team defensively n’ turn them into a strong playoff team. Cleveland better sign Calipari.

  Yeah ppl understimated how much D-Wade loves South Beach (and wants to stay away from his crazy ex-wife). He ain’t going nowhere. / For Bron I just think he’s going to sit back, relax and see who’s gonna S+T for Bosh. Miami, Chi or NY. Who gets him, gets Bron.

  when will teams realise that hiring “defensive specialist” assistants will only get them so far.. I might be wrong, but unless they bring some serious offensive talent, once they get deep into the play-offs the offense will become stagnant and they will crush and burn… have teams not learned anything from what has happened to “defensive specialist” coaches, e.g. Skiles, Brown, Avery Johnson, Carlisle, and on and on…

  Thibs was my #3 behind Phil (sigh….) and Byron, but this dude is a great ast. i just hope all goes well and he translates into a good head coach

  @Gerard Himself: THANK YOU for pointing out that Wade and Rose wouldn’t work well together. I mean they’re basically the same player. the only way it would work is if Rose became more of a facilitator than a scorer.

  Props to Danny, Doc and the brass to let him interview during this crucial time of the year. (The Finals!!) As it was stated on tv the timing was important and if he wasn’t given permission to interview now he may have missed the opportunity b/c Chi-Town had to get a coach in place asap . Not every team would have done that for their guy. I wish him well except when they play us. no lol.
