Timberwolves Dreaming of Gay/Love?

Sorry. I had to do it.

In what could be a strange twist of fate, Rudy Gay and Kevin Love could be teammates again this summer, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. The two were both Grizzlies for all of four hours in 2008 before Love-the 5th pick in that year’s draft-was swapped for O.J. Mayo. Now that he is a restricted free agent,  the Minnesota Timberwolves have not been not been shy about their affinity for Gay. (Damnit, I did it again, didn’t I?)


The likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire will soak up most of the big money. On the second tier, Gay will be highly coveted.

One team that will make a strong run at Gay is the Minnesota Timberwolves. Team owner Glen Taylor and president of basketball operations David Kahn have already targeted Gay as an attainable player to uplift the struggling franchise.

Griz owner Michael Heisley continues to insist that Gay will be a Grizzly next season. Memphis (namely Heisley) has the right to match any offer sheet that is presented to Gay from another team.

There are countless reasons why this needs to happen. Then there’s the fact that Gay could actually help the Wolves.

    If LeBron can’t entice Wade to go to Cleveland, as Joe Johnson would probably want to get a max contract since he’s more about the dollars Rudy Gay wouldn’t be a bad fit for the cavs as a shooting guard. Cav’s need to pick up the guards.

    Funny title though! Be pretty embarrassing for the franchise when they make good plays to each other. “Gay to Love to the Ring”!!!
