Allan Houston Next Knicks GM?

If this rumor is true, Houston will have NYC’s support. Working under Donnie would help H20 enormously, and he’s a smart guy. At the least, Houston is good face for the Knicks GM. From Ric Bucher: “Former New York Knicks shooting guard Allan Houston is the front-runner to be the team’s next general manager under team president Donnie Walsh, according to league sources. Walsh would neither confirm nor deny Houston’s status. ‘He is working with me to learn the position of GM, whether with the Knicks or elsewhere,’ Walsh said. ‘I feel Allan has the tools to be a great GM.’ Sources said both owner James Dolan and coach Mike D’Antoni are comfortable with Houston, who is currently listed as the team’s special assistant to the president.”

    the sweetest shooting GM EVER!!!!!

hopefully he learned what NOT to do from Scott Layden, for example…offering max contracts to past their prime 2-guards with below average defense, knees, and leadership skills.

My window was only a quarter size and I didn’t see the GM part. I almost thought they were going to bring him back as a player.LOL

“so, allan, as gm of the knicks, would you have offered a contract like the one you signed to a player such as yourself? are these the type of moves we should expect from you?”

  • O

I’m not mad at this, though i’m not a big fan of it either. But as long as it’s not Isiah, whatever.

@chiqo – hahahaha! nice one brah!

if allan houston becomes GM, he should know a bad deal from a good one… he was a bad signing himself, he knew what he could do. and asked for that much money. so i hope that he’d make the right decisions for NY.

He’ll just have to keep a framed copy of his NY extension on the wall of his office as a daily reminder of what not to do, and he’ll be fine.

I’ll never forget when Allan Houston gave Kobe 50.

People should stop their negativity about this guy. He is smart,Charismatic, gentle, humble, respectful and soft spoken. He is also learning from one of the best GM. He knows the team very well and will know what it takes to win and play in NY. He actually will make a great GM and a lot of players and other GMs will like to do business with him. I think he will represent the team very well. Don’t forget he is a god fearing person and will actually excel in this domain. Lets give this young man a chance that he deserve.
