Amar’e Recruiting Carmelo, Tony Parker to Knicks

Amar’e's comments certainly add intrigue to Melo’s decision of whether to sign an extension with the Nuggets this summer. From the NY Daily News: “He dropped a bombshell that seemed too good to be true: ‘I’ve talked to Carmelo Anthony that he needs to come out here,’ Stoudemire said. ‘I’ve talked to Tony Parker. Both guys are ready to join me if I decide to come here. So we will see if we can work it out.’ Asked about playing with. LeBron James, the 6-10 Stoudemire smiled and said, ‘That would be great,’ then headed to his white stretch limo.”

Does Amar’e realize he would have to wait a year for Melo? There is no chance that Denver trades him for anything the Knicks can put together. And the flopping frog? Well, I gess there would be one less flopper in San Antonio. Mr. Longoria’s wife lives in Texas and is from here. She will probably have the final say on where he goes. She is 10 years older (give or take) than him, seniority rules.

Im still not sold on this Amare move. To me, it seems like he’s abandoning Phoenix abit. Especially Nash, there’s no way he ould have had the career he had without Nash.
I get theyve dangled him ,and he probably smarts from it abit, but other than that.
And now it seems he’s realised there is actually a fair chance he goes to New York…but no-one else does, and hes left putting up decent numbers for a lottery team for a few years

    @LDR4

A trade package sent to the Nuggets built around David Lee is nothing is solid. The dude is a walking 20-10 machine and he’s a very unselfish player who has that team mentality. Also, Eddy Curry’s expiring contract (no matter how you spin it) is a valuable chip to have in your possession leading up to the trade deadline this coming season. And of course there is always the chance for a 3 team trade…highly unlikely, but there is a chance. Maybe the Wolves, Knicks, and Nuggets would work something out. Bottom line, Donnie has plenty of bullets in his off-season gun to get things done. I say BRING MELO BACK TO HIS MECCA! Even his soon to be wife, Alani “La La” Vazquez is from Brooklyn.

Note: I’m sure a Missourian like Stan Kroenke would love to add a Missourian like David Lee to his franchise. David Lee might even sell as much merchandise in Denver as Tim Tebow. Just sayin’.

the knicks and bulls are coming back boys

^ another one here saying that nash made amare.. Nash is my favorite PG aside from Chris Paul, same as Stat is my favorite big man.. but to say that amare cant be what he is w/o nash is extremely unfair for Stat.. He’s eating pau on offense 1-on-1 a month ago, same with TD 1-on-1 in wcf a few years ago.. That was not because of nash.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

the guy is ROY even before nash era.. and even nash wont conclude to the thought that he made amare. the guy is extremely talented and i think top 2 (in offense) big right now..

  • Yesse

    This would be great.

  • flash

maybe amare made nash??? stat is pretty deadly on a pick and roll. nash wasn’t like phoenix nash when he was with the mavs anyway. don nelson mavs back then also played uptempo but nash wasn’t as successful like he was with phoenix.

This Nash makes Amare vs Amare makes Nash business is so silly. Amare was rising w/ Steph as a PG and Nash was great the years Amare was out w/ injuries.

If Denver doesn’t ink Melo to that extension, he’ll be in NYC next year. They have a shot at Mr Parker-Longoria. It depends on Parker’s ability to share time with George Hill and Eva’s agent’s ability to convince her that joining the MSG stands will be good for her career.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and David Lee (via sign/trade) are some nice chips for the Knicks to center a trade around in their efforts to acquire Carmelo Anthony. All Melo has to do is sit back, and only sign an extension in the event he’s traded to the Knicks, and if nothing happens he’s a free agent next summer. It’s highly unlikely any team will give up assets to rent Melo for only one season. The Nuggets must decide; do they allow Melo to walk out that Pepsi Center door into free 2011 free agency next summer for nothing, or do they get something for him this summer in a trade? It’s hard to argue with the latter choice. Come home Carmelo. Come home.

I still think Melo should go to Chi with D Lee, that would be pretty dope. Melo in MSG, D’Antoni would waste Melo’s value by putting him on a non contending team. Melo and Amare means ridiculous offense, but with Mikes coaching, there is no defense. like they say, offense sells tickets, defense wins games. Ask the C’s and LA. MELO GO TO CHI!

  • rainman10

I say they sign David Lee, give T-Mac the mid level exception, and send them along with Wilson Chandler for Carmelo.

  • TheTruth

They can have parker, I’m a huge spurs fan (I’m from san antonio) and in my opinon parker is completely overrated. The guy can’t shoot, he drives to the lane every play and it only works 3 out of 10 times, & he can’t play defense. George hill is going to be a better pg hands down. Hill isn’t as fast as parker but his shooting ability and defense completely make up for that. Anyone who rather have a pg (parker) that’s going to start declining over a pg (hill) who’s carrer is just starting is frankly an idiot.

  • giogolo

I see the logic here with MElo going to NY. BUt No way in DEnver’s right mind would they give away their only surefire franchise player if he’s giving no sign that he’d “explore his options” strongly like Lebron is now. Instead they would get to work for the pieces around him. This is given if the onwership have half the brains.

    I have mixed emotions…..

  • http://nicekicks.com meloman2.0

why cant amare just come to Denver

  • notblack

No matter how you put it as a basketball fan next season is gonna be dope

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    Co-sign LA Huey two times.

  • fadeaway

hell no melo is stayin in denver

  • slawson

Knicks are the only team crazy enough to sign Amar’e long term. Even after the Allen Houston disaster (great player, bad luck) it looks like they will roll the dice with Amar’e

  • rainman10

@Slawson, when was an all-star under the age of 30 not signed by a team long term?

You think if the Knicks didn’t offer him 5 years, that no other team would?

  • T-Money

Overtime: ABANDONING Phoenix? they’ve been trying to trade him for the last two years!! i’m not a amare fan and i don’t like his effort level on d and on the boards but i’d get the eff out of phx if i were him. it’s always his fault when they lose, he gets none of the accolades when they win, the media says nash made him when he was 20-10 in his 2nd year.

  • Jon

I’ve heard on espn.com that it was Melo n TP that called Amar’e telling him they’d considering signing if he first signed with the Knicks. Sounds like Melo n TP are merely trying to weaken the suns and enhance their chances in next years playoffs!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    LOL @ Jon. And co-sign T-Money.

  • Clos1881

To all you dudes saying Melo come home when did Baltimore get another team?

  • rainman10

They mean New York, as in they are Syracuse fans.

  • Sam

Tony is not a FA and the knicks dont have anyone the spurs want who is worth trading Tony. Unless there is a thrid team involved i dont see that happening

  • Tha Roc

Melo’s really from NY just as much as Baltimore…he was born and raised in Brooklyn till he was 12yrs old…then went back to Syracuse for College and won championship…he just reps Baltimore a little more because he knows nobody is really coming out that hood and is just trying to be inspirational
