Ben Wallace Re-signs with Detroit

He played his finest years in Detroit, so he may as well play his lasy years there, too. Detnews.com has the news: “Ben Wallace says he’ll sign a two-year contract soon with the Detroit Pistons. Wallace told The Associated Press on Sunday he heard from a lot of teams, but agreed to a two-year deal about a week ago because he wants to retire with the Pistons. He’ll make $1.9 million each season. Pistons president Joe Dumars said on the first day of free agency that the team’s first order of business was to keep Wallace and restricted free agent Will Bynum.”

    Good to see him continue his career. Had a solid season last year.

    As a Pistons fan I couldn’t be happier about Ben staying.

    ‘Lasy’ years? Obviously you meant ‘Lazy’, ‘Last’, ‘Lousy’, or a combination of those things. I can’t believe he hasn’t retired yet.

    Che-Son obviously you didn’t watch much of Wallace’s play last year. His hustle reminded people of the Ben that earned multiple DPOY Awards. His hustle picked up from the Chicago and Cleveland years.

    Che-Son obviously hasn’t watched any NBA in about two years.

    Big Ben was the best thing about last year’s abomination (except for maybe the awesomeness of Jonas Jerebko). I’m glad to see he’ll finish out his career with the Pistons and be there to mentor Greg Monroe.

    at this point I’d rather have Kwame Brown

    Big Ben is like a fish out of water anywhere other than with that 04-05 Pistons squad…He just doesn’t command that same authority anymore….like a domesticated lion

    Didn’t Slam say Joe D was GM of Decade or something, but signing a washed up undersized over 30 year old to a contract, say your career as a good GM is over.

    The Detroit Pistons showed a lot a class to let Ben Wallace remain a Piston and retire there as a player. It speaks of large volume to other players (free-agents) that the Pistons organization has respect for one of its fans favorites. Ben will retire with class and respect and that is a nice way to call it a career. There is a guy named Jordan who didn’t get that in Chicago or Washington, and he’s the best that ever laced up the sneaks.

    @Dunkadelic completely agreed fam

    I didn’t want to take this approach, but screw everyone that is bashing Ben Wallace. He was about the only one on Detroit that hustled last year and he will earn $1.9 million for the next two seasons. Have any of you bashing the man seen the contracts being thrown out to less accomplished players?

    Ben Wallace is still in the league?

    Did you guys even see him play last year? Pistons fans were calling it the Benaissance. Even though he’s old and had a few injuries the last couple of years, the guy came out to play more minutes than anyone thought he would and averaged almost 9 boards per game and almost 6 points per game (with some blocks and steals here and there, too). He showed the same heart and hustle he did in his first run with the Pistons and deserves every penny from the organization and every cheer from the fans.
