Blazers Willing to Trade Rudy for Taj Gibson?

There are rumors that the Bulls could trade Taj Gibson to the Trail Blazers for Rudy Fernandez. Writes longtime Bulls columnist Sam Smith: “From what I’ve heard it’s in Portland’s hands now for what they want. I’ve heard the Bulls have a pretty good shot, but nothing matters until it’s done.”

The Bulls are going all out this year. They will be exciting as hell to watch

I don’t know if it’s worth trading Taj!

If Sam Smith said it, it’s probably something he made up on the toilet this morning. Half of the trade rumors that he reports can’t even be completed under the rules of the salary cap.

Was impressed with Taj in the few Bulls games I saw. Is he a 3 or a 2?

Im a Blazer fan, and actually liked Rudy, just tired of his whining and threatening to go back to Europe if he doesnt get “starters” minutes… Bulls might be a good fit for him..

I think if Rudy came he’d be given the opportunity to start. Would give them good depth at the 2 and the 3.

Sorry, Tracy, hope you are ready for the CBA.

With all due respect to Fernandez, doesn’t look good for Chicago. Trading away Gibson gives out the bench PF backup for Boozer. Sure Johnson could play the four, but that’s not what he does, and Thomas is a Center. Besides, Korver/Brewer combo is pretty good as it is.

Taj probably won’t be playing more then 15 minutes next year because Boozer and Noah should get atleast 34 minutes. I don’t think Taj is a 3, they could use a starting shooting guard that is a threat beyond the arc. Of course Kyle Korver is there and is a better shooter then Rudy, but Kyle Korver’s game is strictly 3 pointer and Rudy is a lot more versatile. Kyle is a situational shooter that you would use at the end of the game. I think Taj is a better player but Rudy could be a lot more useful for the Bulls.

    @ boss terry 2 or 3? more like 4 or 5. r u sure u saw him play?

  • pace

Taj Gibson = Paul Milsap. so the bulls better keep him.

dumb move for both teams, blazers already have size and bulls already have shooters, this is a lose, lose situation so they’ll probably do it.

Rudy fits great into the Bulls scheme and gives us the shooter / playmaker type we have been looking for. His game will open up the D and allow for better movement underneath and for Rose. He can also handle the ball from the 2 spot which creates a lot more opportunities for Rose. We saw that last year whith the Heinrich / Rose combo. Works well. Taj is a fantastic up an comer and would hate to see him go. Wish there was a different way to do this. But if the Bulls are offering Taj, that means they’re most likely looking for Rudy to start over Brewer, or else the trade makes no sense. Hate seeing the Bulls guys I love go, first with Miller and now with Taj; but you have to think of your starting 5 before you build the bench, and our 2 has been weak as hell for years. So let’s do this!!!
Boss Terry, Taj is a 4.

bossterry is now officially a knownothing. taj is nice, they should keep him.

  • Kcir_Selym

    Trading Taj would be foolish.

The Bulls seem to have the right idea…WIN NOW! lol

Dubious about Rudy from a winning standpoint, but love him from an entertainment standpoint. Bulls fan who lives just across the river from Portland, so I know how fun it is to pull for Rudy, but also how little he brought to the table last year. As I’ve mentioned before, not sure how much of that is Nate/the role he’s currently asked to play. After all that, no way I want them to trade Taj for him. I think Taj will make a nice role player behind Boozer. Rudy has yet to prove that he can play a role. Obviously Brewer is not Brandon Roy, but I don’t know that I want to trade a young, seemingly team-oriented big man for a young, seemingly self-motivated wing man. If the trade is for picks, cash and/or James Johnson, I’m down. Not for Taj though.

I would never go through with this trade. Taj Gibson is a good back at the 4 or 5, and has some serious upside. I think he’ll be starting in a couple of years.

  • vanillagorrila

Good trade for sure from the blazer prospective. Awesome piece as a project role player.

  • Shadojoker

Bulls should keep Taj..although Rudy does add the necessary spacing..but if Boozer becomes injured..then moving Taj would be a HUGE mistake.. saw how he stepped in for Tyrus last year..and end up making All-Rookie 1st team!! You just don’t trade away someone who’s just getting started to a team that already “stole” LaMarcus Aldridge from us!!

  • james

I’d just give bob-cats pick. Taj helped the Bulls to become the #1 rebounding team last year. And this year they can repeat that. I dont want the Bull’s to sacrifice rebounding –a guy who can play two positions, for a guy off the bench who whines a lot.
