Byron Scott Staying Positive Wiith the Cavs

Byron has little choice but to put on a brave face in light of The Decision: “Byron Scott took the job in Cleveland hoping for the opportunity to coach LeBron James. It didn’t work out, but unlike many in the city James left behind, Scott made it clear he’s not going to dwell on it. ‘I never got an opportunity to coach LeBron, so from an emotional standpoint I had no emotional ties to the whole situation,’ he said. ‘Obviously I wanted to be there so I could coach him, but when he made his decision my whole mindset, my gears start shifting to getting ready for Summer League, and then getting ready for our season.’ The Cavaliers are expected to play a faster brand of basketball under Scott than under former head coach Mike Brown, fired on May 25 after five seasons in the wake of Cleveland’s loss to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals. A change in tempo is only one way Scott wants to move the Cavaliers into the post-James era. ‘Coming in with fresh eyes, fresh ideas, fresh thoughts, a new system, and a new philosophy, I think all those things also will help the guys kind of move forward,’ he said. ‘When we get out there, you forget about all the stuff that happened July 8th or 7th or 9th or whatever day that was, and you move forward. I hope that a lot of guys are looking at this as an opportunity now to really show their skills.”‘

Sounds to me like he’s happy to be back in the Game.

Of course he’s staying positive. Dan Gilbert said he would win a Championship here before Lebron did……………..

  • Megalo

He is off to one of the worst records in the league

great to hear that from coach scott. ive also read that we signed kyle lowry to an offer sheet. which can be matched by houston. he is good but im not thrilled. hmm.. so it could be that one of the pointguards would be gone? i’d still take boobie or any other pg’s that we have over him.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

Mo, Delonte, Jamison, Hickson, Varejao 5 gets you what? 37 wins in the East? cause of the emocional breakdown theyre lucky if they win 30? they can also rally around the fact bron left them and push to 40 wins and that 8th seed to play Miami? now THATS WHAT I CALL A FU(KIN STORYLINE!

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

Trust me J, Kyle Lowry is a somewhat skilled bulldog…I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM back up Andre Miller.

^SBL, on paper, this current Cavs squad could make the playoffs. Assuming Charlotte holds their ground, it only looks like NYC and the Nyets are contending for Cavs invitation.

    *for the Cavs’ invite

    Bryan Shaw: “Phew..”

He needs to stay positive. Only 12 months till the Cavs land the 1st pick in the draft lol

SLB you forgot the ending where we upset that team.

and also his twin brother, Brian Shaw: “Phew..”

The Cavs will be a ‘decent’ team next year, right around 40 wins. The team is young (only Jamison and Parker are over 30) and an up-tempo style should help them. Mo has a better game than people give him credit for. Hickson is very athletic and has been better each year and he’s spending a lot of time with a shooting coach to work on his mid-range game. Jamison is not quite an all-star but has a lot of talent and will have some big nights. Like many other teams they need to find a big or two (JJ and Andy did well for limited stretches but they are too undersized). The team won 60+ games two years in a row and obviously they lost a ton of talent with LeBron, but they’ve also gained a much better coach that will make up for 5-8 more wins than if they had MB. So the playoffs are a very real possibilty for the Cavs. Miami, Orlando, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta have the first 5 slots, but the next 3 are wide open. A first round of Miami(1 or 2 seed)/Cleveland(7 or 8 seed) is a very real possibility that the media would love.

J.. i hope not.. i can’t see wade and chalmers carrying haslem so he can ‘superman fly’ onto the court.. here’s a miami heat poll question.. who gets to rock their sig pre game ritual first?.. wade’s rim-pull-up or bron’s chalk throw..

  • LA Huey

@Nupe, the first 6 slots in the East are booked. You forgot about the Bucks. =)

Cavs need to jettison most of their roster and build around youth. Trade Jamison, Parker, Williams and West and start Gibson, Hickson, Varejao and Moon. Sure they can find a 2-guard somewhere.

Byron Scott is a great coach who has been shortchanged. He developed teams at Charlotte, NJ, and New Orleans. He led NJ to a few Eastern Conference chips and an NBA finals appearance against the Lakers. Nobody could have been a Shaq-led Lakers in his prime. And Scott’s reward? He was fired in NJ amidst a coup by Jason Kidd. This move to the Cavaliers without Lebron is a career limiting move and may prolly be his last coaching job in the NBA. He is was a great player and is a great coach but he will most likely be remember as a “Mullet” —–> http://clicky.me/Shockims

@Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers, CO-SIGNED! Makings of the best first round series EVER! They better have the National guard on speed dial! lol

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

oh its going to get nasty in games 3 and 4 of that sweep. but the IMPOSSIBLE upset would be just awsome to see.

You know you’re in deep sh!t if Byron Scott is the most positive guy on your team.

  • hobbes

nothing is positive for Cavs, Scott u made the wrong decision should be a AC for Lakers.

Byron is going to fired in 2 seasons.

  • ClydeSays

    Unless Jamison’s or Williams contracts
are expiring, I can’t see where this is going except the lottery. No primary scorer, no playmaker, and no center
