Celtics May Bring Back Eddie House

House, a popular former Celtic, could find himself back in familiar territory next season. From the Globe: “In the process of surrounding their core with a solid second unit, the Celtics had discussions about bringing Eddie House back to Boston. House, whose shooting streaks helped the Celtics win the title in 2008, was shipped to New York at the trade deadline last February in a deal for Nate Robinson. ‘It’s something [Celtics president] Danny [Ainge] and I have discussed,’ House’s agent Mark Bartelstein said. “But nothing’s imminent.’ Should he find himself back in Green, however, he’d have to do it for less money. Pinched by the salary cap, the Celtics would only be able to offer House the veteran minimum. House made $2.5 million last season, but if he played for the minimum next season, he would be entitled to $1.35 million as a 10-year veteran.”

Hmm… It could be worthwhile, merely from the option that House has been there and done that with this team. Unity wouldn’t be an issue, you would hope.

yes, i hated that they didnt keep him. hes fun guy to watch

the plus side is keeping guys who know the system, and having Daniels is insurance for not having TA anymore (although marquis had a pretty spotty, injury riddled first season with them) and Tony is the backup shooting guard and third string PG, who can rotate with Nate.

the minus side is he had a pretty disappointing season last year, and his injuries could be a sign that he may need surgery before long.

Bradley may end up being a bust if he is hurt for an extended periods of time, and will likely be slow to learn the system, so House is a good insurance policy, I suppose.

Remember when Skip to my Lou slapped E. House so hard his headband spinned around. Then when they interviewed House he said thats what people have to do when your busting their ass. Hahahahahaha

NO NO NO, have the C’s a back up pg? nate doesn’T count…what if raging rondo goes down, and all whats left for pg are two sg in pg bodies?

  • BostonBaller

To answer larrylegends ? I’d have to say we’d have to pray that Daniels stays healthy b/c he can actually play the point pretty well. In todays L a pg has only to be able to get the ball over half court in some offenses. I’d welcome House back, he gets the crowd ion it and he hits that 3 ball well. We couldn’t play Hose and Nate together though.

I think the C’s have been doing pretty well with SGs playing back up point for a large portion of the last several years. To have Eddie’s sh*t talking back while still being able to keep Nate’s (and everyone else’s)? Even though ‘Sheed is gone, the C’s might, once again, construct the sh*t-talkingest NBA team of all time.

I like this move if it happens. I was upset at the trade last year — I thought the Celts were crazy to trade Eddie for Nate. But then Nate actually turned it around and became a valuable contributor during the playoffs. Still, I miss having Eddie hit those corner treys on the break.
