Clippers Enter the LeBron James Sweepstakes

Improbably, the Clippers have a shot — albeit a very long one — at landing LBJ, and sound just as amazed by this as any of us. From the LA Times: “A delegation will head to the Cleveland-Akron area to deliver their best sales pitch to the highly coveted free agent and his management team, most likely getting a slot on Friday. Making the trip will be team president Andy Roeser and General Manager Neil Olshey. It appears, for now, as though they will be the only team representatives at that meeting. ‘We are perfectly positioned to engage this summer’s free-agent marketplace and we have every intention of playing an active role,’ Olshey said in a statement Wednesday  night. ‘A little after midnight Eastern time on July 1, we contacted the representatives of several free agent players in whom we have interest. We are honored to be one of the select organizations to have been invited to meet with LeBron James and his team. At that time, we intend to present the many reasons why his joining our organization is the best possible choice he could make.’”

“Clippers Enter the LeBron James Sweepstakes” – no they don’t.

If Lebron is bored with playing with his ACLs intact, then he’ll sign with the Clips. The second he puts pen to paper in Clipper-land, both ACLs will explode.

Clippers wasting their time, just go get Rudy Gay or Richard Jefferson.

I do hope the Clips get LeBron. They’ve got some good pieces already in place. Of course that’s wishful thinking from a Knicks fan who don’t want to see the Knicks signing James.

lol Mike C is on fire right now!!

Rudy would make this a great League Pass team but I bet they sign RJ instead (he’ll come cheaper).

@Huey you always comment on the Clips, but are always wrong. The FA signed will not be older than 25. Jefferson is too old for the direction the Clips are headed. Out of the 8 players that are currently part of the team, 6 of them are 21 or younger. Rudy Gay and Ronnie Brewer are two real possibilities though.

Waste of time……..Lebron is not going nowhere just likes the drama and the media attention……More about me and less about Kobe’s championship please!!!!!!!

If I were LBJ I’d let them make a sales pitch too. They have some good talent and a great location for him. After it’s all said and done, it will be interesting to hear what the basis for his decision was. Staying with the Cavs would be the most popular choice and signing with anybody else could really hurt his image/legacy unless he wins a ring in the next year or two tops. Cleveland is his safest choice so I’m sure whoever he goes with will have to make one heck of an offer.
