Coach K Enamored With Andre Iguodala

Mike Krzyzewski has loved everything about Iggy this summer, words that are surely music to Doug Collins’ ears. From the Philly Daily News: “Before the camp started, I asked my son, Chris [an assistant to U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski ], what kind of words I could offer Iguodala to encourage him,’ Collins said. ‘Chris said Coach K was looking for Andre to be his best defender, that he had other guys who could score, that he needed a lockdown defender. Andre really embraced that. His attitude all through the camp was terrific. He played with energy, he had a lot of fun playing. I want him to embrace that with the Sixers, too. If he does, he’ll be a better player and he’ll make us better.’  Krzyzewski , USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and their staff will cut the roster from the current 19 to probably 15 for a second camp next month in New York … After the game, in which Iguodala hit five of his six shots from the floor, including all three of his three-point attempts, Krzyzewski said, ‘I think Andre has had a great week. I think any of these guys would tell you that he’s an easy guy to play with. He doesn’t need the ball. I told him right after the ballgame, out on the court, that he was beautifully efficient. I’m not sure anyone has ever called him beautiful before; I know no one has ever called me beautiful. ‘I was looking actually for a return of him saying, ‘Well, coach, you look beautiful, too.’ Maybe as we get to know each other more, he’ll do that. Andre, yeah, he can defend. You need guys out there who don’t have to touch the ball long. He’s a fun guy to play; he’ll be one of the key guys for our basketball team.”‘

Fine, we all know how ‘Dre can play D and be a stat stuffer, but sometimes players and cities lose interest of each other… And this is the case w/ Andre… Wish him well, just not in Philly.

So it looks like Iguodala will join Billups, Odom, Durant, Chandler, Westbrook, and Rose as locks for the 15 man roster. Frontcourt depth is an issue for the team but they should be able to run circles around every team in the Worlds. Hopefully they can bring home the gold for the 1st time since ’94.

Iguodala is better when he’s not trying to create shots for himself.

Dre is obviously playing outside of his role in Philly. If we had a superstar player in the fold that Dre could feed off of, then I’d be ok with his game. But he talks the talk of wanting to be a franchise player, takes the money, then doesn’t translate that onto the court.

as a sixers fan i always thought iggy was better when he played wit the original A.I because all he had to do was play D and finish in the open court which are what he does best. after seeing him play wit U.S.A im more optomistic he can play wit evan turner cause now he can go back to that role

    Haha coach K, no h0m0?

  • ceepee3

@KB: ur assuming evan turner is gonna turn out to be a superstar when so far hes nothing but a dissapointment

  • catface34343

@ceepee3…he played a few summer league games, in which he was working on playing without the ball. The can score in his sleep, its waayy to early to call him a disapointment. Thats just dumb.

  • ceepee3

    hence the word so far
i might be too early to call off on him but its also too early to call him a superstar for all we know hes gonna be another iguodala
