Coach K Enamored With Andre Iguodala

Mike Krzyzewski has loved everything about Iggy this summer, words that are surely music to Doug Collins’ ears. From the Philly Daily News: “Before the camp started, I asked my son, Chris [an assistant to U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski ], what kind of words I could offer Iguodala to encourage him,’ Collins said. ‘Chris said Coach K was looking for Andre to be his best defender, that he had other guys who could score, that he needed a lockdown defender. Andre really embraced that. His attitude all through the camp was terrific. He played with energy, he had a lot of fun playing. I want him to embrace that with the Sixers, too. If he does, he’ll be a better player and he’ll make us better.’  Krzyzewski , USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and their staff will cut the roster from the current 19 to probably 15 for a second camp next month in New York … After the game, in which Iguodala hit five of his six shots from the floor, including all three of his three-point attempts, Krzyzewski said, ‘I think Andre has had a great week. I think any of these guys would tell you that he’s an easy guy to play with. He doesn’t need the ball. I told him right after the ballgame, out on the court, that he was beautifully efficient. I’m not sure anyone has ever called him beautiful before; I know no one has ever called me beautiful. ‘I was looking actually for a return of him saying, ‘Well, coach, you look beautiful, too.’ Maybe as we get to know each other more, he’ll do that. Andre, yeah, he can defend. You need guys out there who don’t have to touch the ball long. He’s a fun guy to play; he’ll be one of the key guys for our basketball team.”‘
