Eddie House, Heat Agree to 2 Years, $2.8M

Sorry Bulls fans, Eddie House makes another nice signing for the Heat. From Adrian Wojnarowski: “The Heat have reached an agreement with 32-year-old guard Eddie House on a two-year contract for $2.8 million, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday. The second year of the deal is a player option for $1.4 million. Miami beat out the Chicago Bulls to get House. With a history of clutch shooting that includes multiple big games with the Boston Celtics over the past three years, House will help support Miami’s starry core off the bench.”

    If the lakers become that tough defensive team similar to 08 Celtics plus their great offense then I don’t even think Miami stands a chance. Miami has not one shut down defender on their team inside or out. Rebounding and defense will determine the winner.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    1-12 Lakers are still slightly better than Miami.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    Barnes and Miller are equal. Barnes good on D, good 3pt shooter. Miller great 3 pt shooter, sucks on D.

  • http://sdfjklf.com Jukai

    Kap: Miller is an underrated passer and a good defender. He’s way better than Miller. Look at the money they’ve made. Look at their stats. As J Dizzle said, c’mon now!!!

  • http://sdfjklf.com Jukai

    *way better than Barnes

  • http://Badnewzb8ller Badnewzballer

    Blake and house are a wash? U serious?

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    Well I have bigger issues. A girl I just started dating is a huge Heat fan prior to Lebron signing but now her love for the Heat is astronomical. So we debate all the time which team is better.

  • http://sdfjklf.com Jukai

    Badnewzballer: Er… okay, maybe Blake is a bit better?
    It’s an opinion guys, jeez.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    Kap’s girl is smarter than him at basketball….he should leave SLAM forever….now!

  • Sparker

    guys, you’re forgetting, amazingly, to tabulate the advantage have on the bench. which some would argue is so huge it is difficult to calculate

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    The Heat have no answer for Caracter or Ebanks…lol

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Chalmer = Wade
    Bryant >= Wade
    Lebron > Artest
    Gasol >= Bosh
    Bynum > Big Z
    Haslem = Odom
    Miller > Barnes
    House = Blake
    Arroyo > Brown
    Anthony = Ratliff
    James Jones > ?

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    This is bigger than USSR vs. USA…

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    On Blake and House.
    Blake is a better point guard, but he’s nowhere near House’s league as a clutch shooter and scorer.
    I mean, seriously, I saw Eddie House actually turn games around for the Celtics and Knicks. Dude has NO fear when it comes to shooting, and his range is ridiculous.
    Blake great at running a team, and has really improved his jumper a lot since college. But, he tends to get flustered in big moments, from what I saw in Portland and in Denver, while House is ice water. Blake is a better ball handler, but I’ve seen have problems with intense pressure just like House.
    Neither of them is good on defense.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Chalmers = Fisher
    sorry.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Actually, that’s wrong.
    Fisher > Chalmers.
    Yes, Chalmers can defend and hit shots, but we cannot underestimate the clutchness that is Fisher.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    All of these greater than/lesser than comparisons are horribly executed.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    Eboy
    Well this one is not horribly executed:

    Lakers > Heat

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    I think that the gap between Wade/Bosh compared to Gasol/Kobe is fairly miniscule, if not non-existent. And, after you consider those two, you have to then contemplate Lebron. That’s the elephant in the room. Even if Kobe and Pau cancel out Bosh and Wade, who the hell cancels out Lebron.
    And if say Artest, you need to be smacked. Can you imagine all the energy Kobe has to know expend since he can’t rest on defense? It will be even more crucial that he does not go into “jack-a-shot” mode.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    Bynum/Odom/Fisher/defense cancel out Lebron. Wade/Bosh is outmatched to Gasol/Kobe bc of LA frontline. I do think that Artest/Barnes/ Odom are gonna make it slightly tough for Queen James.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    Allen’s 2:31p comment should be plastered on every dopey message board that discusses sports across the internets.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    Kap, stick to letting your girl make the basketball decisions.

  • JTaylor21

    Wade is just as good as kobe expect he’s younger, more athletic, and too quick for the old pervert. Artest can’t stay with bron even with road runner’s legs and people are underestimating what bosh brings to the table. People are going to be so worried about stopping bron/wade that bosh becomes like diabetes- the SILENT KILLER.

  • JTaylor21

    AllenP is right, kobe is not going to be able to relax and claim that he’s guarding point guards who can’t shoot ala Rondo. He will now be guarding a player who’s constantly attacking and has a very underrated midrange game. When the lakers are getting their sh*t pushed in by the heat, kobe will resort to what he does best- SHOT JACKING.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    I like where JTaylor’s head’s at. No homo.

    I admit it. I am a Heat HOMER.

    Man, the X-factor in all of this is Chalmers, if he chokes, he will force D-Wade or House to be point guards. And we all saw when D-Wade was point guard in Miami, he had like 5 turnovers a game, and House can’t even dribble two steps.

  • Sparker

    bosh can hit that elbow jumper, that’s for sure. and he’s going to be wide open. but no way he’s the dude i’m worried about lining up against miami.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Kap
    You can’t dedicate Bynum/fisher/Artest to Lebron. They still have other players to account for on the court, particularly if Fast Eddie in the game. I watched dude for the Celtics and the Knicks, that is one cat you do not want to give good clean looks to. He gets hot way too fast man.
    Don’t forget about Mike Miller and Haslem either.
    Honestly, the Heat have a fairly good bench for the NBA. Yeah, they are small, but given their top three, they have a good set of shooters and hustle players.
    Seriously, when I look at Lebron’s bench and teammates in Cleveland, compared to his bench and teammates in Miami, I”m not seeing a huge drop off. And not he gets to play with WADE and BOSH.
    Come on people. I mean, it’s all talk now, but you have to give Riley props for an exceptional job. those players are feeling very confident right now.

  • John

    the x-factor is Chalmers, if he sucks even more than he already does, D-Wade or House has to be PG, and they can’t really run an offense. D-Wade had like 5 turnovers a game when he was PG

  • JTaylor21

    @Sparker, that’s the point. People are going to be less focused on him. thereby giving him countless one on one opportunites. People forget that he was the best big man in the olympics not DHOW. I know that it’s against lesser comp, but dude is a better player than people are giving him credit for. It’s funny that the same people that now call him overrated, are the same people that where pleading for him to go to their team just a month ago. They know who I’m talking bout- fruity land fans aka GayLA

  • http://sdfjklf.com Jukai

    Allenp:
    Fisher and Chalmers = Blake and House.
    Really.
    Chalmers and Blake bring the exact same thing…. greater presence during 3/4ths of the game.
    Fisher and House bring the exact same thing…. ice cold clutchness and great leadership/toughness for 1/4th of the game.
    I think both are a wash.
    Actually, probably a better comparison would be…
    Blake ?? Chalmers
    Fisher ?? House
    Since that matchup will probably happen far more often.
    Also, these comparisons are solely based on a talent standpoint: the Heat will give less time to their bench cause of their superior starting lineup. Likewise, you may see a three man rotation at center for the Heat, where for the Lakers, if you see anyone but Bynum/Gasol switching from forward, there’s an issue.
    So our comparisons are flawed.
    It’s just gauging talent.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Good point Jukai on the four point guards

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Initially I was pissed by the Lebron decision, but I’m slowly starting to warm to it now. I’m excited to see what these cats can do with this team.

  • Lz – Cphfinest3

    Agree that Blake and Chalmers is about a wash. But Fisher is better than House, they are about equals on O but Fish is a stud on D and always draws important charges. While House on D is about as usefull as Chris Mullin in a tanning-contest. A whole other issue though; LA sure has the size advantage but that could be seriously damaged by foul trouble and as both Bynum and Odom are prone to fouls, the size advantage could easily be negated. In a Finals series LeBron and Wade are going to draw multiple fouls on those two players as well as Kobe, Artest and Fisher. We already saw all of those players getting in foul trouble against Boston’s creaky old veterans, with Gasol the only one staying out of it. How do you guys feel it will be against the Heat’s young athletic studs, I on my part really think that the aforementioned Lakers players are going to be sitting a great deal (or be on the floor less aggressive) because of Wade and LeBron’s ability to get by their man and into the paint (all of this is off course based on that the Heat and LA meet up in the Finals, but that seems to be the consensus around here). Thoughts?

    80+ posts for Eddie Fu€k!ng House…….. Just kidding great pick-up by the Heat.

  • Brown14

    Watch the video of the 97 Bulls – I’d take Bron, Wade an Bosh with their team of “scrubs” over Mike, Scottie an Dennis an their “remarkably white for a championship team scrubs”. The league is in trouble this year, believe

  • truthteller

    Wow!!! Eboy is almost as annoying as he accused laker fans of being! it would have really been cool if he were really a Heat fan and not a poser! Too bad he’s just a bandwagon Heat fan who chose them just so he could try to be annoying and talk crap to Laker fans!!! I mean, is it a coincedence that the team is rooting for just happens to be the only team with a legitimate chance at beating the Lakers? What a loser!!!

  • Remo Williams

    kinda sad that Eboy has resorted to drawing trucks in text with lame slogans on them…

  • flash

    Wow! great pick-up! didn’t see this one coming. thought he was coming back to boston.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    Oh boys, if you only knew what I have in store to bug you glum motherf*ckers in the coming months.

  • truthteller

    JTaylor,
    I’ll remember what you said and I’ll remind you later when the Heat lose to the lakers twice this season! Don’t worry about the finals ’cause they won’t meet in the finals. The Lakers will be there…

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    LZ
    chalmers is much better than Blake on defense, roughly Fisher’s equal if not better.
    I think what Jukai was saying is that with those four guards is that whne you consider what all of them do well, it’s pretty much a wash.

  • truthteller

    @ Eboy: What do have in store for us? Are you gonna kill yourself and do us all a favor?

  • chingy

    Don’t forget the Heat will have to get out of the East first…Heat will have to get by two of Boston, Magic, and Bulls, no easy task.

    Anyways, I can see Kobe on Chalmers and Fisher on Wade (with Kobe playing off on Chalmers to help). But 4th quarter lineup for Heat will be:

    PG: Bron
    SG: Wade
    SF: Miller
    PF: Bosh
    C : Z

    or if they want to go smaller, replace Miller with House and move Bron to SF; tho he’ll prolly still bring the ball up the floor

  • http://aspov.blogspot.com Cheryl

    tell me, tell me, tell me!!

  • chingy

    I actually think the East will be tougher to get out than the West this year, so Lakers may have an edge…a Boston series can get real physical
