Josh Howard Re-Signs With Wizards

Howard will return to D.C. next season, after accepting a one-year deal. From the WaPo: “Josh Howard played just four games for the Washington Wizards last season, but that apparently was all the time that both sides needed to decide that the relationship should be extended. Howard agreed on Wednesday to a one-year deal with the Wizards, according to his agent Derek Lafayette. Lafayette said the details within the contract have not been finalized, but a league source said it is expected to be worth close to $4 million with incentives based on games played, minutes played and minutes averaged. The deal was confirmed by a team source. Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld was unavailable for comment. ‘He has made a decision to return to the Wizards,’ Lafayette said. ‘We’re just happy that he’s happy.’”

Wizards were playing like a bunch of mad dogs and showed tremendous heart after the trade, before Howard went down. With the addition of Wall, this only gets better for Washington fans. Team will be fun to watch and a definite playoff contender if everyone stays healthy, no doubt in my mind.

quietly might be one of the better pick-ups of the off-season, should he return to his allstar form… then again after a big year, he’ll want to be paid, whcih not might be in the wiz’s cards

If the Wizards can make things very uncomfortable for a few teams (I’m thinking Atlanta, 76ers and Chicago) then they could be starring straight at the 7th seed in the East.

I thought Josh was out for next season with his injury.

josh is good. everyone seems to have forgotten that. i guess he really screwed himself with the “character issues.” and now he’s worth less than darko. it’s friggin’ unbelievable. he would have been a good pick up for la, esp. at that price. another tough defender guy to let kobe focus on being unstoppable on offense.
