LeBron James’ Decision to Be Televised Thursday Night

by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni

LeBron became the king of all media yesterday, as he launched a new website, signed up for Twitter, and concluded matters by getting into the TV business.

James will reportedly announce his highly anticipated free agent destination tomorrow night at 9PM ET, during a television special on ESPN. For some reason, this will take an hour.

ESPN, um, reports (through independent sources, but with confirmation from ESPN. Or something):

ESPN would only confirm that active discussions for the special are ongoing. But sources tell Broussard that representatives for James contacted the network, proposing that James makes his announcement during a 9 p.m. ET special.

Those sources said that James’ representatives requested they be allowed to sell sponsorship for the one-hour special, with the proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and that ESPN agreed to the proposal but had not been told what James has decided.

James’ plans still are a closely guarded secret. He visited with six teams — the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls — last week at his business offices in downtown Cleveland and may have made up his mind already. But until he gives word, other teams are positioning themselves to make a run at the 6-foot-8, 260-pound All-Star — or Bosh or Wade, or maybe a combination.

Now, I’m not sure how James and ESPN are going to fill an entire hour’s worth of television programming time to announce LeBron’s decision, but they will undoubtedly come up with something that everyone will find a way to hate.

So, good times ahead!

    Probably going to stay.

  • Josh

Lebron is the man. Just the gall to do something like this is great. He knows he has the power and he is using it.

  • vtrobot

an hour long build up to an anti-climatic finish where he announces that he’s staying in cleveland. is geraldo going to be the main commentator?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    caught up in the action

I’ll be looking out for you.
tell me can you feel it
tell me can you feel it

Tell me can you feel it?”

  • Fat Lever

All this for a guy that hasn’t won a title yet. They should fill the hour with the disappointments of the last 2 seasons.

  • rayray

    @josh – get a grip mayne!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

*Talks to self* “Should I start defending him today or just wait until the formality is over tomorrow.”

  • giogolo

I got a feeling” wohoo.. taht thurrday’s goona be a good night that that day’s gonna be a goodd good niiigghtt..” wohhooooo for Akron!!!

    CP# on his way too..soon.
Rubio with Amare in NY. Soon….wohoooo..!!!

    Pardon me.

  • Clay

I guess LeBron needs to find other ways to gather attention other than winning championships because he’s not too great at that. I’m guessing New York, but who cares? As a fan I’m more concerned with the teams that will be in the running for the championship, and NY with Mike D and his no-defense philosophy won’t be.

  • Clay

Can’t wait to see if Pat Riley comes back to coach Wade and Bosh, and who he will get for shooters to help them.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

I wish I could say really loudly like I used to in class, “no-one cares”. But, I can’t because it’s not true.

Start spreadin’ the news. LeBron’s leaving Thursday. He wants to be a part of it. New York, New York.

  • Clay

Hursty I’m with you on that.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I guess I’ll know what it’s like to be hated like I’ve hated on the Lakers for so long. Hug the hate!

  • Overtime

  • Clay

To get the ratings for LeBron’s prime time event, James should invite Brett Favre to announce his decision as well.

  • jumpman3244

If you ever find yourself wondering why LeBron catches so much hate, make sure you dvr this because this sums it up.

  • Kap

Well it definitely seems that he is going to New York…

  • Overtime

He must be leaving, itd be pointless to do this if he was staying.
And this is why so many people say: Lebron James..image first, basketball somewhere

  • jumpman3244

I’ll never hate on the heat because I’ve been down with dwyane was dwayne, but if lbj lands there it will make them polarizing. However, I don’t think this points to MIA, I think its either CLE or NY.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    NY – Amare and Gallo
    Clev – Mo and Jamison
    Chi – Rose and Noah
    Mia – Wade and Bosh

Not sure what the best tandem to join up with would be.

  • Kap

    @ Eboy…It damn sure isn’t Cleveland.

  • Scott

Prediction: he stays in Cleveland and they fill half an hour with the animated show the Cavs front office made to woo him.

  • C-Lo_The_Great

    @ eboy
are u serious??? definitely mo and jamison (sarcasim)

  • Hussman25

Ive been waiting for Slam to post this non-sense!!! Lebron’s ego is larger than Staypuff! We all know your going back to Cleveland??? Y would any NBA player unsure of an impending lockout and coming up on the re-negotiation of the CBA leave 30 million on the table?? Joe Johnson was smart… He took the money and so will Lebron! This FA summer was the most hyped and most dissapointing summer EVER! I was hoping to see some real movement… Wake me up in September!

And THIS is why I hate Lebron James. Can you imagine the flak Kobe would have got for something like this?

Eff this dude man, he’s a joke, and so is the media for playing it how he wants it.

  • http://screwjams.tumblr.com cramzy

*sigh*…somehow I feel like Kobe’s locked in a gym somewhere with Kareem tryna learn the sky hook…

  • ujangapri

It will be ridiculous if he decided to create a new franchise with him as the GM, Coach, Team President, and pick all the scrub free agents as player. It’s too much fuss with the other team anyway.

  • peter

It would be funny if they had all the lesser free agents announcing their decisions as a lead in to the big finale…Lebron’s staying in Cleveland.

  • karma

God, the fact that this idiot is doing something like this and NOT getting flak for it pisses me off to no end.

  • heartlandG

If he goes to Miami, Lakers still 3 peatin

  • Blackphantom

Wow, I like Lebron a little less now

  • Nashty

Y’all are hating just cuz he ain’t going to your team. And Slam is hating cuz….well, cuz it’s ESPN.

  • ALEX80

The king of media??? all that buzz for that ringless piece punk???

  • Blackphantom

    actually, alot less now

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

This guy is such a pompous jerk. Taking advantage of ESPN drooling over him to make some money for the Boys & Girls Club. Basically saying, “I’m so rich, I don’t even need income like this.” Ii hate this guy.

  • The Philosopher

    To The Masses:
My friends, this is another reason why LeBron is The King. He is THE ONLY player who can yield this clout. State his word. Dictate terms and conditions of The NBA landscape. The SPORTS landscape.
The entire basketball world stands at undivided attention. The anticipation AND excitement is real and just.
We are witness, brethren. We are witness.

Oh go to hell. If Kobe did somethign like this, the media would be all over his ass. Double standards. I hate people like you who make this RINGLESS peice of crap more hyped than he needs to be.

  • kudos

Guarantee that It’s Cleveland and it’s a complete waste of time to watch it. Prollie say something like, “other offer’s were nothing compared to home.” Obvious positive PR bs. If he was truly leaving, the headline would make itself.

  • Nate C

If you hate this, stop commenting guys, you aren’t supposed to like it, and no one really cares if you do. Relax and watch, its life, you live your lives the way you wish, and so will Lebron

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Myles Brown

Bron ain’t staying. You take two minutes to stay, you take an hourlong ESPN special to say goodbye. The charity bit makes him look like less of a jerk. He ain’t playing in Miami either. Not exactly a show of solidarity or selfessness to have two separate press conferences is it?

  • http://facebook.com/tronjohnson Chief

I firmly believe that after the post season Lebron has gone through I’ve seen everything that he can do. However somewhere when he was getting his team’s post season ass handed to him again something broke in his little Lebron mind. Something flipped and Lebron thought he was bigger than the game itself.

    Signed Michael Jordan

  • Fat Lever

They should do it just like the Bachelor, with the rose ceremony. But then when he picks Cleveland, the real Rose(Derrick) comes out and they hug it out, b!tches.

  • The D Train

Adrian Wojraklnakiojwfk over at yahoo is saying that one team that presented to Lebron was told it was down to Cleveland or Miami, for what it’s worth. Frankly, Lebron to Miami would be fun to watch, just to see how him and Wade would share duties, not to mention Chris “The Centerpiece” Bosh. For competitive purposes I’d rather he stay in Cleveland. Bosh-Wade is not better than Pau-Kobe…at least not yet. Since Bosh has always played on a poor team, we’ll have to wait to see how he stands up to the bright lights of the playoffs…what if he’s got some Mo Williams in him? Can’t really call it ’till we see it. Bulls fans, well, we can be prepared for a decade of first, maybe second round, playoff ousters. Rose’s best case-scenario is being as good as Chris Paul (which he has a long way to go, and may never be that good), and look how far Paul has gotten with the above-average David West and a bunch of role players. That’s what cat’s like Eboy don’t necessarily understand. Logical Bulls fans knew that Rose and Noah formed a solid 2-3, but needed that number one. We had our shot at the 2 best available. Not getting either means we’re like 97% of the other teams in the league…we don’t have the Super-Duper Star.

I’m so confident LeBron is coming to NY, I’m going to BOOK IT.

  • Kap

The gayness…I can’t take it anymore. The comments just get worse and worse.

  • T-Money

Myles: So not Cleveland and not Miami. Then, who? I was leaning Chicago w Bosh or Boozer but now I’m thinking Miami.

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Myles Brown

I dunno. I just don’t think three max guys and nine minimum salary guys can win it all. Too dicey. If Bron can bring Boozer with him to Chicago or NJ or sign with the Knicks and see what they can do with $12 mil in cap space once they dump Eddy Curry, those teams could be just as good. Deeper and more balanced.

  • Ben Flook

Does Philosopher work for Slam??!! No matter how many derogatory statements i make about him they never get shown. btw Philosopher your a gay.

    LeBron/Amar’e > Wade/Bosh

    Heat vs. Knicks on XMAS

    Book it.

  • cp3fan

This is ridiculous. Wonder if it will be on ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN too. Somewhere, Kobe is polishing his five rings and making room for a few more while all of this is going on. Regardless of any team he goes to, they won’t be better than the Lakers.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

I don’t know what he can say for an entire hour but I actually like the way he’s doing it. He’s kept a low profile for the last month but the media has made hime the #1 topic in sports during that time. So from his perspective why not do it his way? He can control how the message is delivered and what happens around it while doing some good for a charity – I don’t see anything wrong with that. Other athletes call for press conferneces or get on twitter (which I think is an unprofessional way to announce your decision). Basically the way I see this, he’s having a formal press conference to answer all the questions that he knows the media et. al. will ask and he’s making some money for the boys club in the process. In my opinion this is exactly how to use celebrity status to the fullest and make an impact. Seems like so many people are giving him hate for this, but as a sports fan I think this is a great, and professional way to take the typical press conference one step further. I’m glad he has the depth to see his position and found a way to really take advantage. In a few years, we’ll see other elite athletes do similar things.

  • T-Money

Seriously, it’s pretty much over for the rest of the league if he goes to MIA. Not sure he WANTS to do it but if he does, oh my. ESPN is reporting the three amigos had a conference call this morning.

  • T-Money

The Nupe has a point: we’ve been forcefed LeBron news since the end of the playoffs but what has LeBron said since he got eliminated besides the LK interview? Nada. He didn’t go on tours, didn’t talk to the press and kept his meetings low-profile in a building in freaking Akron. Guys like Wojo keep writing every day that they’re tired of LeBron being discussed all the time. Am I the only one seeing the irony in this?

  • Izzo

I think he’s doing a half hour stand up set.

  • The D Train

James, Noah and Rose > Wade, Bosh, Beasley? Not saying it’s going to happen, because personally I think Reinsdorf must have turned off Lebron at the Bulls meeting (how else to explain the reported Bulls front-running until after the meeting, when they apparently fell off the face of Planet Lebron). But IF Lebron did sign with the Bulls, and brought along Boozer, aren’t those 4 dudes a better foundation than Miami? Hell, one could argue that Lebron, Amare, Gallinari is better than Wade, Bosh, Beasley. Even though the new hotness that is Flash and Centerpiece is fresh to death, Lebron still holds the ultimate key.

  • http://www.facebook.com/clayton.holloway Mavus

Out of all the teams going after Lebron, Cleveland hasn’t made a move.. Who’s he going to play with there? If he goes back, he doesn’t win a championship..

To the Gentiles whom express disdain towards me:
    I’ll tell the truth.
As I’ve stated on a many a occasion, the truth is very distressing AND difficult for a many people to grasp, understand and accept.
But, I’m here to state the truth to the masses, and to attempt to help people understand what IS truth.
My people, you are not alone in your disdain for truth. You are not alone in the way the truth makes one spew malice.
    Anyways, LONG… LIVE… THE KING!!!

  • The Philosopher

    To further illustrate:
When Kings are kings, they essentially have the authority to do whatever one wants, however one wants.
Many kings were feared, hated, disputed, etc. But they all yielded power, influence. Some were even loved and respected.
Hence LeBron. It is no longer deniable OR disputable. This young king’s rule IS present upon… us.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

I kind of want him to stay but I’d bet on him leaving. I think he enjoys the rivalry with Wade more than playing with him in the NBA, so Miami’s out. Chicago, if he wants to win now. Nyets, if he’ll be patient. NY, if he wants to let Dwight rule the East. I’ve got 7 on Chicago.

Hi from Akron. It’s been a fun few days out here, obviously, as discussed in my currently un-commented-upon post on this very site…
Just had a short conversation with one of the local beat writers who’s been on 24-hour LeBron watch here the past few days (and weeks, I guess…) I asked him how eager he is for this circus to be over. His reply, “I don’t think ‘circus’ even does it justice.” I imagine he’s right.
The other thing he said, echoed by the comments here and by what I’ve seen on Twitter, is how this process isn’t winning LeBron any fans. Regarding a guy who wants to be the global marketing king, It’s a great point. Casual fans are certainly paying much more attention to him than they ever have, and I guess if you’re looking at broader American/global culture, appealing to the ignorant masses is the way to go. But certainly, among actual basketball fans, it’s hard to imagine anyone liking him after this beyond fans of the team he ends up with.
It’s all pretty fascinating. Someone should write a book.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

@Jake: MJ, Kobe or Shaq never had this kind of clout or media attention to do this. This has been the most hyped FA season ever and LBJ is the center of it. He hasn’t been going out to the media, the media has been speculating on him for the last month. I don’t see how his having a press confernece or whatever you want to call it is an arrogant move. Personally I hope he stays in cleveland. With all the talk and signings with Amare in NY and Bosh in Mia, one fact remains true – the current Cavs roster (with LeBron) is a 60+ win team and nobody has yet to make any moves (Bos, Mia, Chi, Orl, NY, NJ, Atl etc.) that make them clear favorites over the current Cavs. IF LeBron stays the Cavs are still a force in the East and if they could possibly sign a Boozer or Lee or another key player, they may be considered the favorites. There are no guarantees in basketball and in my opinion LBJ to Chicago gives him the best chance at a ring, but if the Cavs ownership can get some other peice – either in free agency or before the trade deadline during next season, it could be a really fun and ballanced east.

  • Ed

Clippers! Ha that would be epic.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

@Jake, “People who wonder how Kobe Bryant would have handled this have short memories. He strung everyone along before his opt-out summer of 2004, just as LeBron did. He had the Bulls, Knicks and Clippers come meet him, just as LeBron had teams meet him. (Although at least Kobe’s pursuers got to go to Newport Beach instead of Cleveland). Two years later, Kobe changed his number, just as LeBron will next year. So it’s a mistake to say Kobe wouldn’t have done it the way LeBron did it. He has. He also went on radio to demand a trade, then appeared on another show to retreat from that position, then charged forward again in a different radio appearance. That was followed by the secretly taped parking-lot conversation in which he took swipes at teammate Andrew Bynum and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak. Kobe didn’t use technology; technology used him”

JARED DUDLEY’S breaking news via twitter: LeBron to NEW YORK

  • Jake

He was also in a totally different situation than LeBron.Shaq was already showing signs of decline, and Kobe was starting to enter his peak so obviously he had to wait until he saw what management was going to do before he resigned. Also when he demanded a trade it was because the Lakers front office had surrounded him with the same kind of garbage that Toronto has given Chris Bosh for the past 7 years. When an organization such as the Lakers submits to mediocrity, they deserve a kick in the ass by their star player.MJ would have done the same thing. At least the Bulls made strides towards getting better.

Now back to LeBron. He’s consistently proven that he’s arrogant since he came into the league. He routinely launches 25 foot jump shots(and misses quite a few) on the break,he embraces himself as the king of the NBA even though he has no hardware yet(something that defines you if you are supposedly the best), and he schedules 1 hour ESPN specials dedicated to where he is going to sign.If he signs with Miami and they win a ring, that will further prove that he isn’t the true King because he needed 2 other future hall of famers to carry him.The “King” got swept by the Spurs in the Finals, and bowed out in the second round this year.

You tell me who’s more deserving of media coverage and the title of King…Kobe or LeBron?

Start spreadin’ the news…LeBron’s a Knickerbocker. Oh yeah.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

@Jake, I can see why you’d be tired of the media coverage and, as a LeBron fan, I’ll even admit its overblown. However, what has he said publicly since getting bounced in the by Boston? I didn’t fault Kobe when he was flanked by Kwame and Smush and I was extremely disappointed in LBJ’s Game 5 effort. You wanna bring up ill-advised shots in a conversation that involves someone who routinely takes (and misses quite a few)? contested, 20-foot fadeaways. C’mon, man. You’re hating the player instead of the game.

  • http://slamonline.com JL

  • Kap

@LA Huey…there is no longer an argument about Kobe vs. Lebron. The was settled a few weeks ago when Kobe got #5…so he can take all the bad shots he wants and say what he wants bc he backs it all up with wins and hardware.

  • JTaylor21

Man, f*ck kobe and his over-sensitive lovers always
complaing about anything lebron does. the man is
doing it for the charity that helped him out when he
was a kid and you clowns are crying that u hate him
even more. Mayble you like hitler for all the good
things he did huh. Kobe gets no attention because he
doesn’t carry the same presence as bron does let alone
MJ. Do you think if MJ was still playing in his prime
that lebron would get as much attention as he’s getting
now, NO. Kobe doesn’t posses the presence that some of
the greats have because his been carried to more chips
than anyother star in league history and his never ever
been the definite best player in the league at a
give time. Shaq carried him to 3 chips, i don’t care that
kobe avg this and that, when someone avgs. 34ppg/14rpg
on 3 championship teams, trust his doing the most heavy
lifting, then in a cruucial gm7 his entire team carried
him, so thats 4 chips that he wasn’t the main factor for.
MJ was never carried like that neither was Magic, Russel,
Isiah, Bird even with 4 HOF teammates, etc. Also when kobe
came to the league MJ was still there, so he wasn’t the best
player, after MJ, shaq/TD were the best players, then Tmac
was thought by quite a few people to be better than kobe,
then bron/wade in their 3rd yr were just as good if not
better than him. He’s never been considered the clear cut
best player in the L. So stop complaing about any and every
thing bron does, if don’t like it change the channel or
do me a favor and swallow your kitchen untensils.

  • J-Bird

LeBron/Amare vs Wade/Bosh would be very entertaining,
but I have a hard time picturing LeBron being coached
    by D’Antoni.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

I heard he has pre-taped his decision on going to NYC and will let that run “live” on ESPN and everyone in Cleveland will watch and as soon as he says he is leaving, people will be looking to f*ck him up but he bought himself enough time with that pretaped message to pack up his sh!t and leave town.
I saw a similar approach in the movie SPEED.

  • The D Train

Sorry, Kap. Kobe v Lebron wasnt settled a few weeks ago. Kobe won three rings with Shaq at his apex. Kobe won two with Kung Pau. Let’s see Lebron play with a sidekick that is close-to, or better, than either of those guys and see what he can do. Kobe v Lebron will not be settled until after all the rings and stats are totaled up. Can’t put one dude on an island of crap and compare him to an island featuring an All-Star, top 5, big man. Not even remotely a fair, or valid comparison.

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Negetivekreep

    ^^ No Jtaylor, F*ck you.

  • jumpman3244

I love how people count out Cleveland because the roster isn’t good enough to win a title. No one said that back in April. Everyone seems to forget that when push came to shove against Boston, LBJ didn’t show up. Sure there were other factors but plain amd simple ‘the best player in the world’ got outplayed and outwilled. Funny how no one ever mentions that when discussing Cleveland’s short coming or the fact that he signed off on acquiring all of those pieces and hamstrung the organization in not being able to build for the future because of his lack of commitment.

  • http://slamonline.com Spaceship Jay

    lol @ Anton

  • B-More Mike

So shaq wouldve won rings without Kobe? I’m done with this stuff!!! You people can’t know the game & what it takes 2 climb the championship mountain! If you did when was the last time an individual won it on his own. Remember “win a ring 4 the king” y’all was talking so much $hit it couldve became physical. Remember the season sweep, I think there fans thought it was the chip! I guess D Wade didn’t carry shaq 2 one huh? It’s all good you guys gotta keep your mind off the Lakers winning chips & still improving. STFU!!!!!

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Dumb statement. Kobe played his heart out the last two finals, he shoots bad game 7 and now he didn’t win title. (Look at MJ shooting stats, teammates/role players help win titles too) Before game 7, Kobe was going to win MVP, even if his team had lost game 6 cat. Also please don’t become a Shaq did it all cat, because Kobe took over plenty of games during his tenure with Shaq. People only remember Shaq playing against the small East centers and killing them. People forget Tim Duncan owned Shaq and Valde Divac used to always get Shaq in foul trouble. During those Finals Shaq had the CLEAR advantage to do whatever, against Davis boys, Mutumbo, Todd McCloough. Cat you forget Kobe was the lynch-pin to get LA past Spurs, Blazers and Sacrmento to get to NBA Finals, when they found ways to neutralize Shaq. Horry hit shots to get Lakers to finals. So Shaq doesn’t deserve his. GO check the stats for Kobe during those playoff runs and finals and tell me he did not earn them. Without Kobe LA doesn’t make it to Finals last two years. Kobe got off against a good Nuggets team last year to get to Finals and Kobe got off against a good Suns team to get to Finals. Hater go drink some more of that Lebron juice going around, where he is a King for you dumb puppets. So Kobe had nothing to do with the 5 rings. B-Moore the world is alot dumber, because of you.

Just so you guys know, LeBron’s agent (who quoted him) said: That LeBron’s narrowed down his options to 3 teams. Those teams being the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New Jersey Nets as well as the Chicago Bulls.

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

U know whats worse than all this hype n bs leading up to brons decision? After he announces it, itll be nothn but hype about his new team, how soon a chip, etc. Even more hype and bs

P.s: Slam a bit late on reporting Booz’s move?

Just got word that Boozer signed with the bulls for 5 years $80million.

you cant control the media doin what they do, they have to earn money.. but you can control yourself typing about this hoopla if you really say you are sick of it. you blame media for writing about this but you yourself type your own prediction, hate, bash, then say your sick of it at the same time.. yes.. you are basically contributing to the hype.

i already have the inside scoop!

I think Izzo would be the best Tweeter ever.

  • Clay

The only way LeBron can be compared to Michael Jordan is if tomorrow night he announces that he’s deciding to play professional baseball.

  • http://www.shawnkemp.com JACO

@Clay the other way is by deciding his decision in a two word format as well.

  • matt

My new least favorite player in the NBA is Lebron James. My new favorite player is KD. This free-agency period sure exposed these players.

  • BostonBaller

In a few years this will happen again w/ another player. The media gets worse every few years so what LBJ is doing isn’t that far fetched, Magic, MJ and others had just as much clout and pull but not the media heat due to overhyped world media. The Kobe/LBJ, hate/love thing on this site is mind boggling. Why is it if you are a Kobe “fan” you hate LBJ and vica versa? Why is it that the other has to be downgraded to boost the other and the fans of either are dumb etc etc? I know I know, I suck b/c I have GREEN shades on and I am a dumb C’s fan..yadda yadda yabba dabba doo…I hope Miami & NY stack their teams and The Bulls & Cavs beat them in the playoffs. lol.

  • O

I’m a fan of Kobe, but I have to say, he’s a bird.

Plus, Jared Dudley’s crazy fronting. Only way his tweet is true is if he’s a Lebron hater and wants to spoil the big surprise and ruin his hour special. I do hope he’s telling the truth, but I doubt it.

If ESPN is to televise Thursday’s LeBroadcast, are they intentionally calling off their dogs to find out exactly where he’s going to sign?

I dont know why everyone keeps saying that the combination of Wade/Bosh or Stat/Chandler/Galliarni are better than the Combo of Harris/Lee/Lopez or Rose/Deng/Gibson/Boozer/Noah.
Yes I have a Bulls bias but they are the better fit for Lebron to win now. The combo of the “Dream Team” Wade Bosh and Lebron would not work because wade and Lebron would need the ball to much and whatever happened to bosh wanting to be centerpiece of the team. He is clearly second choice right now and would be 3rd choice with Lebron coming.
And sure Lebron would average a triple double ith Dantoni but Lebron could average a triple double aneywhere else as well.
And the Nets look nice but lets not forget that they did only win 12 games and find ways to lose games just like the knicks.
And with the bulls you clearly have it all a young superstar pg who isnt afraid to share the ball or take over the game if needed, a rising center, an allstar in boozer who can take it in the hole and releive lebron of some pressure when he drives in, gibson who is on his way to becoming the next boozer and deng who is a bit overrated but can knock down that jumpshot when wide open-which he will be if lebron comes.

  • http://www.twitter.com/mansonovic Mansonovic

Yeah, I’m one of LeBron’s biggest defenders, but this seems a pretty douchey way of doing things.

  • Larsylad

Sht sound he go to Miami? However that sound go down, the King would be viewed as – and i suite Bosh – an addition. He doesnt NEED 2 big stars to team with. He Will go to New Jersey. The one jour TV-show Will be à Jay-Z consert featuring a battle with Lil Wayne as the highlight. At the end, Brons re-recorded video message will be one word: “Guess”.

  • Larsylad

Now, when it’s all become official, hos hard will it be to lure other FA’s to NJ?

  • dino

    Out of 10. 7

  • damien

Bron Bron is signing with the Heat. D Wade Riley got their wish and now instead of Lebron chasing the title of the G.O.A.T he now has the potential to be the greatest second fiddle in basketball history. what a backwards ass move, I guess SLAM can give him a new nickname like everybody else because he is not befitting of King status

  • Slim

LeBron’s ego is way too big to go to Wade’s house. Unlike LeMedia whore, Wade actually won a chip. Miami is HIS house, and there’s just not enough room there for James’ throne to fit. Chicago would be a great fit but I don’t see it happening. He’s either going to New York to pursue his “center of the universe” complex or he’s sticking at home, which will make this hour-long special even more of a joke.

  • Jessdogg

all you people talk all this nonsense, questioning why would he do this etc.. yet there isn’t a single one of you that isn’t going to watch this announcement…

  • http://facebook.com/tronjohnson Chief

I really don’t think a few star players moving in the (L)eastern conference is gonna do anything to where real ball is played on the west coast. Free agents dont’ garentee franchise or even rings. Good coaching, bringing up rookies around solid vets and a deep bench do more for a franchise than any one man has ever done. The only team that has done that in the east is Boston.
There is no Lebron in team.

  • http://facebook.com/tronjohnson Chief

And when this special comes on, gonna pop in my Micheal Jordan to the Max in the blu-ray and forget all about whiners who don’t shake opponents hands when they lose in the playoffs and have no rings.

  • Ronald

@Chief: Yeah, KG and Ray Allen were rookies born abd bred in Boston.

  • nastierthanu

If the proceeds are going to the boys and girls club than I’m all for it. Nice work

  • BostonBaller

What’s that song? “The Heat Is On”? If LBJ goes to Miami that does NOT, I repeat, Does NOT assure a title: See Lakers w/ Shaq, Kobe, Payton & Malone. This would not be the 1st “mega-tram as you see above unless you consider media-wise. The hype machine has never been this oiled up before, this is the age of overhyping the smallest play (although this situation is huge) I believe that if LBJ & Wade weren’t leading the FA market this year the others would get hyped above their worth. IMO

  • Joe

I bet he will announce his decision (Miami) in the first 10 minutes and then the rest of the hour will be like one of those HGTV home shows where he picks between three houses. My wife is definitely watching.

  • BostonBaller

    Joe: lol

  • http://www.nba.com/sun Dacre

Let me be the one guy in the room that locks in the NETS as the front runner – he’s there with two allstars in brook lopez and devin harris, a capable big that can finish as well as any big he’s payed with and a pg that can score and create for others better than he has ever had in cleveland – he has the opportunity to stand as THE man, which he doesn’t get in MIA or Chicago (Rose, this is HIS team…). Bringing respect back to the Clippers is too big a task for any man and Amar’e wants to be kingpin in Gotham (but looks more like the the penguin…) so thats out. Brooklyn/New Jersey gives LeBron a big market to play in, it gives his posse some punch what with Beyonces husband kicking around the place and look at the Russian owner – HE WANTS IT MORE THAN ANYONE RIGHT NOW…

  • JoeMaMa

I think LeBron James is going to go to Harley Globentoots. They play a winning game and entertain the crowds with all sorts of neat doo-dads and bim-bams. Curly Boo has been burning up the phone lines to get him, and me thinks we’ll all see LeBron throwing a bucket of water on a ref near you. Box of crackerjack says I’m halfway not un-incorrect.

@ronald was talking about rondo, big baby, being brought up around the boston vets. Rondo is ten times more effective cause he grew up around men. Who has ever told Lebron to sit the f*uck down in the locker room?
No one, not even Mike Brown. your man Bron thinks he is bigger than the game. Melo will end up being a better player cause he grew up around vets. kobe grew up around vets. They waited for their turn to lead. Lebron obviously doesn’t know how to lead him company into battle. We’ve been shown that multiple times. No mid range game, no rings, so I’ve got no time to waste on this. Kobe hasn’t changed teams so it’s still the same game.
