LeBron Wants Chris Paul to Stay in Western Conference?

The media has painted LBJ as CP3′s career adviser this summer — something that he doesn’t like a whole lot — and claims that he wants his good buddy to remain in the West: “Word is LeBron indeed advised Paul to demand a trade but he wants CP3 to stay in Western Conf. to make a better rivalry. Of course CP3 in Orlando running screen rolls with Dwight Howard would be direct challenge to Heat. So that may be a factor, no?”

Damn, LeBron’s pulliny out all the stops to win a title eh? He doesn’t want to do the dirty work of eliminating Paul and some other superstar so he’s just going to get kobe to do it..

  • http://slamonline.com Krishan

    Now this is just annoying.

  • http://Yahoo Shanoooooo

I lose more and more respect for this guy (Lebron) daily. You don’t wanna compete with CP3 but you’ll go hop on DWade’s meat ! I’ve never know anyone to be a c*ckblocker and a meatrider all at the same time but Lebron James can do it all !

  • Groves

afrid of competition? my two favourite teams are miami and orlando so i want this trade to go through

  • twinparadox

I suggest a Chris Paul/LeBron James trade, how’s that for rivalry, LeB itch?

  • Anthony

I dont know what to eat today, if only I could ask Lebron

  • Copnduit

this is just sad, I thought David Stern was in charge of the NBA… first DWade talk you in to doing something stupid .. now Lebron is talking CP3 in to doing something stupid. This is why Kobe is the last of a dying bred…..

He still can’t beat Kobe and the Lakers lol. So it doesn’t matter what he tries to do to make sure he wins a title. Good luck getting past the Celtics and Magic. Even if they get past them, they still can’t beat the Lakers. They’re too small. Kobe is going to be healthy going into the season. Gasol will be rested. Phil is back. Lakers three peat

Damn Lebron, not a competitor eh? First he eliminated Wade, Bosh and the Heat by joining them, now he’s trying to keep Chris in NO where’s he’s not as big of a threat as he would be in Orlando. Soon he’s gonna convince Kobe to follow his dad’s footsteps and go play in Italy. Dude’s gone mad with power/publicity.

  • Iain_i20

Groves your a douche…how can you be a Miami fan and Orlando….? Rivalry???

    LeBrons a douche aswell….

  • http://chugachugachugachuchu.blogspot.com/ BETCATS

Hornets can trade him anywhere. I hope they trade him to the southeast division just so he has to play Lebron a lot every season. Maybe somewhere like……Charlotte!

  • AT33

who said that? what a bull crap, ain’t believing till i’m seeing. CP3 decides for himself and his best bet would be to go to NY and play with Amare. Orlando is a good fit too I think but in a small market. I say NY or he stays put. This is from my reliable and very credible source LOL

Lakers are going to three peat, The Heat’s Big 3 got nothin on them, basketball is 5 on 5 not 3 on 3, if that was case then Kobe, Pau, and Bynum would dominate Wade, Bron, and Bosh

  • http://www.slamonline.com James the Balla

Philosopher, how does Lebron’s as$ taste now you f()cking loser. Bron is scared to death!!!

  • vtrobot

a 2nd cosign to Shanoooooo. Waaaaaaah. I don’t have a good chance to win a ring this year. F*ck the contractual agreement I made that pays me millions of dollars, I’m going to pout until I get traded to a contender for less than my value. Prima donna p*ssies have completely taken over all professional sport.

  • Balher

Just like Cavs fans have no right telling LBJ what to do,he shouldn’t be pushing CP3 away from doing exactly what he(Lebron) did. Just to make his path easier to the finals.Even if it’s just “advice”.

  • flash

if only lbj knew that cp3 would demand to be traded he wouldn’t have left cleveland. cp3 cudv gon to cle for mo williams, dwest…etc.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

The stupidity of the commenters just continues to advance as the summer does.

  • Dagger

In other news, Yahoo! sports has teamed up with Fox sports to declare James the antichrist.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ The Promise

Of course he doesn’t want Cp3 to go to Orlando, cause you have to admit, thats a scary lineup if you add him with all the shooters they have. He’ll be shaking in his boots if Paul goes to New York, cause then Melo will follow. LeBron is pathetic, he wants absolutely no challenges to face him. I’ll never root for this sorry excuse for a next Jordan ever again.

  • Overtime

lol, lebron james is lecturing on rivalry, nice

  • Steve

Some of you guys are flat out “idiots” for believing everything you read. Lebron wants CP3 to stay in the Western conference? And you guys actually believe he said this? Wow. People are really stupid now-a-days.

  • http://Www.dimemag.com Royal

Fellow Readers: You can’t believe everything you read………. But if it is true then LeBron is TURRIBLE (Barkley voice)

  • The D Train

@Steve: to be fair, the comment came from Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He was all over the place following James for the past 7 years, and did a great job during the FA chase with updates. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not, but calling everyone idiots for believing a reputable source is a bit of a stretch.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

“and CLAIMS that he wants his good buddy to remain in the West.” CLAIMS. Claims. Perhaps Marcel should run word definitions with this half-as*ed sh*t so that the legions of basketball geniuses that make their way around here can figure out what words mean in relation to subject matter. Just a suggestion.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

“Word is LeBron indeed advised Paul to demand a trade” WORD IS……WORD IS. Look up that term to see what it actually implies. Here’s a WORD IS for all of you, directly from me: “WORD IS that Kobe Bryant’s knee surgery went worse than expected and that’s the reason why there has been no official word from him or his camp”. Word is…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

You know, because a Cleveland Cavalier insider is going to be fair and balanced in his reporting on the Slain King. Jerkoffs.

  • unrel

i don’t know what to think yet.. i mean.. twitter.. is not.. you know.. that serious.. so who knows what’s really meant.. but he’s showing a lot of signs that he’s afraid to compete.. even lebron fans can admit that..

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Oh, yes, rocket scientists, if you think a Cleveland Cavalier reporter/insider is going to be truthful in his Lebron reporting, than the majority of you are stupider than your comment content.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

So let’s see….he’s afraid to play against every team in the league now….yet, some of the BEST teams in the league (Lakers, Celts, Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets, Bulls) have had no “tampering” from the magical fingers of Lebron that can keep THEM from being competitive. Ah yes, density at it’s finest.

  • kudos

FALSE: Because I know Lebron would never do something like that.He would never confiscate a tape of a college player’s dunk on on him either. I also know he would never refer to himself in the third person like he’s reading out of a telepromter. That’s the lebron i know..

  • The D Train

all right Eboy, calm down now, lets just calm down. I simply meant that Windhorst has received rave reviews for his reporting this summer, and thus, could be CONSIDERED a credible source. Yes, the fact that he’s from Cleveland could lead him to slant his reporting. Stein is from Dallas, so you do have to take some of his Dirk and Nash love with a grain of salt. I get that. I was saying that Steve’s comment regarding anyone who believes it being an “idiot” was a bit off-base. Simply noting that it might not be factually accurate is fine. Slamming anyone who doesn’t immediately ignore the source because he’s from Cleveland and is tweeting something that could be construed as anti-Lebron is a bit dismissive, right?

  • Cam

Look at eboy all in a bunch because they mentioned his precious “King”…

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Wow. When did Lebron James turn into Lord Voldemort? He’s like the NBA boogeyman now.

  • T-Money

At this point, people will believe anything that they WANT to be true. “Word is”? If you don’t think Windy has an agenda, you’re just stupid. He’s one of the most reliable beat writer out there and he normally never reports anything until he can vet it by MULTIPLE sources… and now he’s tweeting about the word on the street and speculating that it’s because Bron doesn’t want to see CP3 with Dwight? Get real. Windy is pissed. He’s been essentially shut down of Bron’s circles, had no access to LeDecision and had to watch Broussard break the big news and can kiss goodbye to his part-time ESPN gig and national exposure because nobody cares about the Cavs anymore. Word is I’m banging Angelina Jolie on the side.

  • The D Train

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2010/07/inside_the_decision_miamis_cou.html; Windhorst’s article on Lebron leaving. Seems like solid reporting with little-to-no bias involved. If you’re going to crap all over the guy’s credibility, at least check the work before you do it. If I was defending that Wojarklajklgvn dude over at Yahoo, I could see it. But I have yet to see the slanted reporting from Windhorst that you imply must be there, simply because he’s based in Cleveland.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

D Train, you know I respect your views, regardless of who you root for, right? EVERYDAY, more than once, there is usually a Lebron negativly slanted story. It’s enough already. Let the summer go by without having to hear about him IN ANY CAPACITY. Who cares? Dude hasn’t really spoke out about anything related to basketball except for the night the Heat introduced the three guys. If he’s not talking, why is everyone else? That’s not a trick question either. Jealousy is a terrible way to go about your everyday business. That’s all every major sport reporting publication is acting like, jealous, jilted lovers. The reason? ‘Cause they haven’t been given access to the three guys in a interview setting. The SI cover piece from two weeks ago? It wasn’t anything that included words from Wade, Bosh or Bron, it was a poorly written “account” of how the three of them made their decision. I’m only assuming that when SLAM get’s around to doing their cover story, it may be something similar.

  • http://slamonline.com Krishan

Wait sooo… Is Eboy a troll or is he easily baited? I can hardly tell anymore.

  • T-Money

“Hey thanks Bron Bron, that’s such a good idea. We’ll revive the historic Portland-Miami rivalry.” People REALLY think this conversation happened? Wojo and Isola are willing to assassinate Chris Paul’s character and intelligence in order to give his trade request a LeBron angle. This is beyond stupid.

  • The D Train

T-Money…I ask you, is journalistic credibility and integrity dead? Can you seriously stop believing “one of the most reliable beat writers” because the subject no longer works in the same city as the writer? Guilty until proven innocent, I guess, huh? Screw your body of work, there is no way you don’t have an agenda here, so there is obviously zero chance that your reporting isn’t compromised. Thanks for the years of reliable info, but you’re just not reliable anymore, evidence be damned.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Lebron is like the NBA’s Illuminati. People think he’s behind everything. Y’all giving that boy a lot of credit.

  • drosefan13

This is true. If you think it’s not, you’re just on LeBron’s nutsac too much. Why do you think Chris signed with that LRMR goon team? Out of nowhere. He’s under LeBron’s influence. He should have stayed with his own team. Now LeBron has him demanding a trade that he’s not going to get. And who knows what else is on deck from these guys.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Meh on the reporters.
Reporters get scoop’s right and they get them wrong.
If Windhorst didn’t have a good enough source to get him Lebron’s decision early, why would he have a good enough source to tell him that Lebron is telling Chris Paul to stay in the West?
    Nobody thought of that?
I’m not sayind dude is outright lying, but Sam Smith and Peter Vecsey also break stories based on “sources.” And, roughly 50 percent of the time, those stories are wrong. But people give them credit becuase 50 percent of the time they are right.
Somebody told Windhorst about Lebron and Paul. But, since you don’t know the identity of the source, or their motivations, how can you judge the veracity of the information, particulary given the way it was presented.
    Just think about it.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Uhm…..for all the conspiracy theorists here that claim Lebron can make entire teams fortunes change even if he has connection them….why would Lebron want Chris to go the Western Conference? Couldn’t that mean that he could somehow wind up in LA? Wouldn’t that strengthen the Lakers to really incredible levels? So Lebron’s willing (or hoping) that Chris will be moved to a Western Conference squad, as long as it’s not the champs? What?

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

The season has not even started yet and you guys are ready to kill eachother because of Lebron and the Miami Heat.

  • vanillagorrila

Yeah stay in the western conference, go to portland. One of the only teams with enough expendable talent to put together a respectable deal without losing any core pieces.

  • T-Money

The D train: I’ve been following Windy for a while and I’ve never heard him report rumors that he couldn’t vet with a source directly involved in the matters. That’s why he never touched the Delonte rumors. That’s why he was very cautious with the STAT to Cleveland rumors. That’s why he was about the only one that didn’t want to confirm any reports on Bron’s free agency because he was not certain. And now he’s reporting the word on the street and speculating (hence the interrogation point) that said word on the street MAY be related to Bron not wanting CP3 to pair up with Dwight? Yeah that’s fishy. / drosefan3: LRMR has been trying to sign Paul for YEARS, this is not out of the blue. It’s funny how Kobe didn’t need anybody to tell him to demand a trade 2 years ago but now CP3 MUST be under LeBron’s influence to demand a trade from a team that’s not going anywhere even though he’s been saying all season that the Hornets must improve and they haven’t? / Are people realizing here that they’re blaming LeBron for Chris Paul demanding a trade? Like, for real? CP3 is not his own man?

  • wilz

if u were all like me and never “respected” the guy in the first place (except for his athletic talent), all of this would b a lot less surprising or painful

  • JTaylor21

Come on son, do you guys really think that bron has that much say on where paul goes to. Like eboy said, people are just reporting on hearsay nothin factual. Like that bozo wojo who swears that he has a bugged every room bron being in with that stupid story he wrote a while back. At least before all these clown reporters used to claim “so called” sources but now it’s just story after story without no credible source.

Cheryl kind of hit the nail on the head. I’ll say this, I just want to see all the new guys on all their new teams play ONE F*CKING GAME to actually have basketball to speak about.

  • The D Train

Good call on the 1:27 comment, AllenP. Well said. It would be a mistake to take Windhorst’s words as gospel, just as it would be a mistake to completely discount it because he’s from Cleveland. If the dude has proven that he’s “reliable,” at least as reliable as one can be not getting info directly from the horse’s mouth, then we shouldn’t just toss his postings aside as biased, correct? Just as we shouldn’t assume that his post is accurate simply because it reinforces some people’s desire to paint Lebron as the Lex Luther of the NBA.

  • JTaylor21

All this false reporting reminds me of that white reporter on the WIRE who fabricated those stories of the homeless being killed just to make a name for himself. Thats exactly what all these shameless reporters are doing. Maybe I should be a reporter just like them. “Today at noon, I had a earth-shattering foursome with sofia vegera, shakira and penelope cruz. It was like an Inception. There you have it, I bet that the first few commenters aka kobe’s mistresses would believe that sh*t too, suckers.

Look, reporters don’t make most things up.
They report what people tell them.
But, guess what? Other people make stuff up and tell it to reporters. Or, they tell them rumors and pretend like the rumors are stronger than they really are.
And reporters, who are under pressure to develop sources and break news, sometimes run with stuff that they can’t verify independently because they are worried somebody else will get it up first and it will be proven right.
That’s the current state of affairs for most journalists. Sure there a few bad apples who just make stuff up completely, but that’s not most people at all.
Both T-Money and D-Train have good points. I would take both of their points under advisement and use them to consider the news Windhort reports.
He’s not greedy Satan, but neither is he just an upstanding fellow looking to print the truth.
You know why reporters get so invested in whether teams win or lose? Because it’s more exciting to cover a winning team.
Reports have desires and biases. They have strengths and weaknesses. Like most people, they are neither all good or all bad.
Finally, can people stop complaining about SLAM turning into TMZ? All you have to do is avoid the articles you don’t want to read. Plus, I think Slam is doing as well as can be expected, except for some of the crappy actual columns and stories that get thrown up on the site. Yeah, Mutoni has some bias, but it’s not horrible and he typically does a good job. Can’t say the same for everybody.

It’s funny that when it comes to writers having disparaging things to say about LeBron, all of a sudden we’re the worst kind of human beings imaginable. We just speculate, make things up, and never get anything right because we don’t divulge to readers where the info comes from or who our “sources” are. You guys just don’t get it. There’s a little thing called journalistic integrity and responsible journalism. There are things discussed amongst media-types that isn’t shared with the general public. Things you guys will never, ever, hear about or read about. I’m not defending Windhorst and saying he’s making stuff up, but like me, I’m sure stuff comes past him and it’s up to him whether he decides to write about it or tweet it. It’s easy to bash writers and I’m not saying that we don’t get things wrong because we do, but if you guys only knew. Trust me, there is so much information floating around via back channels and you guys will probably never be privy to any of it. I’m amazed at how often a fan or in this case, a commenter, thinks they know so much more than the writer delivering the story. Especially when they are so dependent on the info that’s released to the masses. You guys are hilarious.

  • T-Money

Good rant, Bryan. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Nobody claimed to know more than Windy does. The guy said that he has BOOKS on LeBron-related stuff and, as someone that has been reading him daily for the past two years, I do believe him. On this particular topic, this is hearsay. It’s “word on the street” and the correlation between the supposed trade advice from Bron and him not wanting to see cp3 with Dwight is Windy speculating. He says so himself. But it didn’t prevent Wojo and Isola from running away with that and writing columns as if LeBron gave that advice to CP3 and CP3 was gullible enough to take it. That’s whack. What we’re arguing is that we DON’T KNOW. And neither does Windy because if he did he would have made a statement. I like Windy when he breaks scoops, I like him a lot less when he’s TMZing.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

T-Money, so Windy is speculating and Woj & Isola are too? And you know this, how? You can refute what these writers say, yet you can’t produce any evidence to the contrary other than what you “think.” It’s not that “we” don’t know, “you” don’t know. It’s so stupid to say, “[Windhorst] would have made a statement” if it was actually true. Besides, if he did, you’d just accuse him of making stuff up about LeBron anyway. So whatever…your ignorance is what makes you who you are. Uninformed.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

My bad T-Money, you’re actually “under-informed.” You only know what you read and hear and like I said earlier, that info is filtered.

  • T-Money

“Word is LeBron indeed advised Paul to demand a trade but he wants CP3 to stay in Western Conf. to make a better rivalry. Of course CP3 in Orlando running screen rolls with Dwight Howard would be direct challenge to Heat. So that may be a factor, no?” / If you can’t see where he’s speculating then there’s nothing left to discuss. / Actually, no, if Windy would have made a statement about Bron I would have believed him because he’s usually dead on when reporting facts. There were no facts in this story. / Oh, and you’re really cool Bryan, you’re an insider. And I’m obviously not because I comment on this site. OK? How’s that relevant to anything that was being discussed here, no clue.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

Sometimes T-Money, people write things a certain way for a reason. I think that I explained that but I’m sure that makes too much sense to even be believable coming from me. And yes, you’re right…you’re not cool. Why? Because there’s a distinct difference between those who know and those who only voice their opinions based on what they “think” they know. That’s you. And not all commenters on the site are as uncool as you. But then again, they’re not all borderline retarded either.

Why did Chris Paul sign with LeBron’s marketing company?

  • jack

LeBron is just a piece of work truly, wow, thats the nicest thing ive ever said about lebron. its amazing how chris paul, maybe the most loyal man in the nba to his city of new orleans, which has clearly gone through the roughest times, is forced by lebron and his people(who are also close to pauls people) to a possible trade. Lebron did this solely because that would show the media that it is “OK” to swap teams which would get the target and hate off his back, for a little while atleast. The problem is, lebron doesnt want a competitor in the east that could maybe eliminate them(paul would make a nobody like the knicks into a championship contender), so the only way this could have worked was if paul went to a team in the west, which he did not want. lebron thinks he can run the league but the truth is, he hasnt even proven he is a true winner, nevermind run the league. he needs to go and run off to dwades team(it will always be his team) and have a good shot at a title in miami. well lebron, u cant be the best ever when its not ur team, just unbelievable lebron, f**k you
